Quite possibly the greatest game ever made... (IMO)
To this day, I still remember playing FFIX for the first time. I used to think that FF games were for old and boring people so I avoided it at every corner but I found a copy at a friend's house and was curious (the designs were unique) and stole it.

for me this is THE BEST final fantasy storyline i've ever played since when i was a kid. now i'm 22 age years, play this game via psn, i remember how the joy when the first time i played the game. but, for the battle system i admited it that very slow compare to battle system on RPG game at this time. but this game always number one for me, and i bought this japan version for collection only.. thanks PA!

In my opinion this game was one of the best RPG ever. Great game play, nice mini games, good story, best graphic (compared to the other PSOne FF series), great soundtrack and lovable character.

Final Fantasy IX, a Great Traditional RPG.
The Last game released for the PS one and it so happens that this game is my first in the final fantasy franchise, this game has superior graphics and soundtracks, a great game to close the book on the PS one, the game play is easy, a lot simple than FF VII & VIII,
However many of the fans may see this game to be a bit of a disappointment because of the story, the story take place in magical world (like most classic RPGs) where there is a kingdom that needs to be saved, a good princess, an evil queen, a villain that acts behind the scenes and a hero with mysteries powers, in general the characters look more childish than the adult looking characters of FF VII & VIII, the story also lacks the Sci-Fi element that made FF VII & VIII so popular, any way this is a traditional RPG at it's best, simple yet good looking, I'm so proud that a played this and managed to finished it with almost every item available.

Downsides: I found Kuja (the main villain) poorly developed. I also didn't like Garnet so much - but that's just me.

I love this game! It's my 2nd favorite of the FF series! I sampled the U.S. version which got pretty far before going to the outer continent, but also missed a lot. It sucks how Garnet/Dagger lost her Eidolons but great how you have to put in an effort to gain them back for her! and I'm currently in the process of advancing to the outer continent! Woohoo! Beautiful cg scenes, music and epic adventure! Plus it's all in Japanese! Playing these games altruistic

Characters and storyline are not as adult as in Final Fantasy VII or Final Fantasy VIII, but a great game nonetheless.
It comes with all those great things you can expect from a FF game: astonishing, amazing soundtrack, state-of-the-art (for back then) graphics, and simple/precise gameplay.
It does remind you of those older versions, taking you back to "Medieval European Fantasy" lol

My best game of all times
Final Fantasy 9 is my very first RPG game. I recall my first impression of this games..."is this a movie or a game?" definitely both... Every aspects in this game is so awesome. it's outstanding graphic, memorable music, playful gameplay, thousands of minigames.. the only faults of this game is it makes me becoming an rpg freak... ^_^ and i'm so thankful for it...

Final Fantasy IX
This is the first and only Final Fantasy I have ever played and still not have beaten it. I constantly had to borrow it from friends and now I purchased this for myself and I'm satisfied with it.
The graphics and movement of the game is very impressive when you look back at these old classics. I heard Final Fantasy IX was the worst of the series, but I don't care(and I don't really know myself)! I still like it.

One of the best Classic FF games I've Played
Even after FF7 and FF8, i thought every FF games succeeding with be futuristic, but i was wrong, and i really loved this game as it mixes technology and bringing the roots back. One of the best FF games out there.

Amazing Game
The English version of this game was amazing. Wonderful plot, beautiful music composed by, of course, Nobuo Ueamtsu. This was the first Final Fantasy I ever played, and having the Japanese version is really helping me to apply what I am learning as a Japanese linguistics major in college.

The nostalgic appeal of Final Fantasy IX is undeniable, it's mirrored by a less pleasant sort of Déjà vu.
I still prefer FF VIII, but game have something special, you must get this, totally recommend.

Pretty Good
A turned based rpg. You slowly unravel the mystery surrounding the myst and where you came from. You evently have to face off against your brother. Not as good as FF 7, but better than FF 8.

Final Fantasy have been a huge success in my life, personally i have not found any game to be better than a final fantasy game (im highly stubborn)
This one im replacing cos i lost me old copys.
The amount of things you can do in this game, from finding ultimate weapons, finding summons, new magic spells, quest for the golden chocobo, ahhh it's just great fun.

There are also many side-quests that are extremely hard to achieve without practice (Excalibur II) and a unique Chocobo minigame. All these little things make it feel as if the developers actually cared for the game and did not make it for a quick buck.
I have heard many a reviewer diss FFIX for its plot but they might have been looking at it wrongly. They all except uniqueness and freshness but FFIX is not meant to be all that. Rather, FFIX is a testament to its predecessors, more than ten years of pent up passion at Square is pumped into this marvel of RPG gaming. It even has more little references to older FF's, e.g. 'No cloud no squall shall hinder us' at the end of the game and a few other references.
Finally, that leaves me to the CG and Music. Simply put, this is Square themselves. They never disappoint in these categories if you share the same kind of taste as I.
Buy this game if you have the cash (but if you didn't you wouldn't be reading this now, would you. Unless you're a lurker) I would 6 star this if possible.

I played this when i was way younger, years ago, anyway quite simply, i love this game, the main character is Zidane, he ends up on this airship if im not mistaken that eventually has to perform this play to the crowd at the start, to entertain the nobles, thats when his story begins
