Just received order-
I just got the GBA Ver. of Mother 1&2 and it's awesome. If you're worried about the fact that this is the Japanese Ver. Don't fret too much. Even a basic knowledge of Japanese should be enough to get you through the game (Although it's completely Hiragana which can be annoying to those who can read Kanji). And if you've ...

Brilliant
This is good games and good edition!!!
About Mother2: Although the GB advance screen has lower resolution than the TV screen (if you're playing SNES version Mother2), this edition has the same graphics (sprites), just slightly decreased the border area of the screen.

Earthbound is awesome
I played the excellent Mother 2 fan translation and wanted to support Nintendo for making such a brilliant game (boo for not translating it themselves though.) I couldn't find a copy of Mother 3 for a reasonable price so I bought this instead.

Amazing game, poor delivery.
I love the Mother series. I love it to the point where I can ignore the sound differences in this version, and enjoy the games for what they are.
The situation I am in, however, is inexcusable. I received my copy of Mother 1+2, promised to be in "Like New" condition, today, after ordering it over a month ago with no explanation for why it had been so late. Furthermore, upon opening the package, I found that the box and several inner components had been damaged in transit.
Before you say I went on the cheap for packaging, I took the third highest option out of four, which is in a box rather than a bubble-wrapped envelope. Tracking was not provided for this.
Needless to say, I expect better from suppliers whom I am giving my hard-earned money to. I will not be purchasing from here again, and I advise you to do the same.
Thank you for reading this,
-Aaron Sky, pissed off customer.

The Mother of all RPGs
Perhaps the Mother series was not the first, but it definitely stands at the top as one of the best.
The games of the Mother series have developed a cult following for the exceptional storyline, fantastic scenarios, innovating gameplay mechanics, humorous dialogue, American pop-culture references, and truly memorable locations and characters.
Mother 1+2, as you may have guessed, captures the magic of both the darker, more difficult Mother 1, and its somewhat more lighthearted and more accessible Mother 2 (Released as EarthBound in the United States), putting both games on one convenient GameBoy Advance cartridge. As the game was released only in Japan (due to legal reasons and to an underwhelming public response to the Super Nintendo release of EarthBound), the dialogue and text in both games is in Japanese. This can make understanding the story difficult, and for a player that understands no Japanese whatsoever (such as myself), it can be frustrating when you find yourself stuck with no clue as to where you need to go. Luckily, there are resources available all over the internet, including excellent walkthroughs by the folks, all of which will bail you out when you just can't go on, and will greatly improve the experience, just by translating important plot events for you, so you can tell what it going on.
Language inconveniences aside, the games are completely true to their respective originals, including all of the same soundtrack and witty dialogue as the games we grew to love fanatically. All of the graphics are the same (Mother might have benefitted from a bit of a makeover, but the NES-style graphics are in no way a hinderance to gameplay). Overall, Mother 1+2 is an excellent game collection, and I was excited to add it to my number of GameBoy Advance games. I have absolutely no reservations about recommending Mother 1+2 to anyone that likes RPGs, or simply wants to own a part of this truly legendary series.
The cartridge itself came packaged safely in its box, with instruction manual, in a bubble-lined envelope that arrived two weeks and a few days after I ordered it. There was no damage at all to the packaging or the box, and I am completely happy with my purchase.
BOTTOM LINE: I love this game collection, and I highly recommend it. Shipping was excellent, and I had no problems during any part of the process.

MOTHER Series = Awesome!
I had recieved my order a while back, and it was in great condition, fast shipping. Even though I could not read Japanese very good, I can still get through the game easily. I recommend this game to many gamers and RPG fans, this series is the best RPG ever made! Will definetely order from Pay-Asia again.

Mother 1+2 = awesome!
It's just what you expect: Mother's 1 and 2 on one GBA cart. The game's in Japanese (of course), but you can find the emulators online.
Package came in a nice cardboard box with Play-Asia logo. Bubble-wrap packaging and not damaged. Came at a decent time like the site said. Good price for a Japanese GBA game, especially two games in one! I also got a $5 off coupon for orders over $50! :)
The Mother series is awesome! Great storytelling, memorable characters, beautifully constructed music...it's a lot better than a good portion of games out today! I know the graphics aren't 'state of the art awesome', but why should the graphics only make a game great? It's all about the story. Love storytelling, you will love this series. Go buy this! You will not regret it!

A Masterpiece
Let me begin by saying this, anyone who's "Thinking" about buying the game, BUY IT.
Let me sum up the story for you. You play as a Teenage Boy known as Ness. One night when you're asleep, you see a Meteorite crash into your hometown of Onett. After a series of Events, you eventually meet a special Bug/Fairy/Alien type thing, that tells you it is your future to save the world. You are informed that you, along with 3 other youths, must save the world from an evil being known as "Gyiyg".
And that's what the Majority of Mother 2 is. Your journey to save the world from Gyiyg. Now I haven't played Mother 1 yet, but I've heard it's equally great, as well as similar to 2.
Anyway, the game has some great Dialog, and is actually funny at time. It's in Japanese, so you need know that before buying. The games uses only Hiragana and Katakana, so this can be easily read by those that know little Kanji. However, if you don't know the language at all you can still get along fine. But you'll miss out on the Story.
As for the shipping, I was pretty pleased. It took 1 Week for my Order to process, as well as 1 Week for it ship. Which is exactly what I expected, the site was actually right about it's shipping length.
As for the condition it arrived in, I say it was pretty nice. It came in it's original Cardboard Packaging, and it was brand new. While the side of the box was slightly dented, it arrived in Great Condition. No real damage to the precious case.
1 word of advice though. The Case is in Cardboard, not plastic. So when ordering DO NOT CHOOSE AIRBUBBLE. If you choose economy Airbubble I can assure you you're box will be Crushed when it arrives. Choose economy Air Box. It'll arrive in a protecting Cardoard Box, as well as plenty of Bubble Wrap to Protect against damage.
Anyway, It also arrived with a Coupon Code for $5 Bucks off my Next Purchase.
Overall, I can say I'm pleased. It came in nice shape, little Damage to the case, and in decent time (2 Weeks). I plan on shopping here again.

GREAT GAME!
I love both of these games, you will be happy buying them.
I just wouldn't do it from this site. I got my game 14 days after I ordered it, (That I didn't mind, I understand that it would take time). But what I hate is that everything I got was crushed big time.... and I wasn't even offered my money back or even a replacement.... That is screwed up....
But yeah the game is a AMAZING FUN AWESOME GAME!!!!
I am sorry for posting this, but I am so mad at this place....

Amazing
I found this game after a few searches looking for Earthbound for the SNES, and since it was late at night/very early morning I couldn't think of the difference between this and the oh-so-valued Earthbound version. After I ordered and not only remembered that this of less value than Earthbound but was also realized this was a re-release of a re-release (Value Selection version was made a few years after the GBA version), I was a little disappointed, but I was still very very excited.
It took a little longer to get here than I expected and it's in Hiragana but I'm absolutely pleased with it. I can't read a single thing in it (gives me a reason to learn. ;)) and I'm surprised I managed to get out the front door in MOTHER, but even so I recommend anyone looking at this game to seriously consider it. The MOTHER series is amazing and should be experienced by many people.
Somehow I started praising the game itself, but if you're on this page you probably already know of the game. I was impressed by the quality of the game when it got to me. It was shipped in it's original packaging with everything untouched, slipped into a bubble-wrap bag (with a coupon code, I might add), and placed carefully into a moderately-sized box with just enough packaging peanuts that it didn't crush anything. It's as if they knew how much the game meant to me! I'm definitely shopping here at Play-Asia again.

This game brings back old memories to both nintendo fans, and Mother fans, we won't forget the game since during our childhood. I believe this game is the best RPG game out of all the games, and plus it have the old traditional ways. It is funny, heartwarming, and action. I hope the next generations knows about this game...

A great way to be able to take Mother's 1 & 2 with you on the go & for a reasonable price too. Both may be in Japanese, but you should be able to find a helpful walk through to help you out.

Mother 1+2 Value Selection
Awesome game. I already own the original SNES game complete and have a prototype EB zero cartridge, but I wanted a portable version to keep me busy on my breaks between college classes. I have learned to recognize some Japanese characters (language that is) a little bit, but when I have more time to spend on the game, I am sure I will be able to play through the enitre game in its original language. Great product, fast shipping, just plain cool!

Earthbound on the go
Mother 1+2 is everything you could reasonably expect of an NES and a SNES game compiled on the GBA. Mother 2 sometimes sounds a bit off, much like the Final Fantasy GBA ports, but it's barely noticable once you get wrapped up in the gameplay.
One word of warning: If you haven't played either game in English and you don't read Japanese, I strongly suggest keeping a walkthrough on standby. This is a perfect RPG collection for your GBA, so don't let a language barrier stop you!

I love it! It's very fun and like the graphics. However, the sound quality isn't as good as it could have been. But this was a good buy. The sound isn't so bad once you're used to it.

Overall this is a good game, they didn't really change anything except bugs/glitches (nothing like what they did to FF 3,same graphics and all that.)The language barrier isn't bad,no kanji.I'd suggest printing of info list's for PSI and item's (around 100 each.)So worth the 40 bucks I paid for it.

Two excellent games in one package
Mother 1+2 combines both Mother and Mother 2 which are both popular games in Japan. Both games were released years ago but they still hold fun for anyone looking for a good game.
Like your typical RPG, you walk around the over world and fight the occasional enemy. These two games, however, mix up the formula by adding humorous dialog, unique weapons, and strange characters.
These two games were masterpieces when they first came out, and they are masterpieces still to this day.

The Mother series is one of the best rpg series ever & this port is no exception. It may be in all Japanese but that doesn't deserve to lose a star. Again: A MUST HAVE FOR ALL RPG FANS!

Very Good Game.
I really like the game. It is both fun and challenging, both Mother and Mother 2. Unfortunately, being in Japanese, it takes away from the experience, since I don't know the language.

Mother 1+2
Mother 1+2 are great games. I personally bought this package just for Mother 2, but Mother 1 was a pleasant surprise. If you're worried you won't understand it, you can always find a walkthrough of the game. Trial and error works too. The only thing I have to say is not understanding the language takes away from the experience. If you don't feel like paying over $100 on EarthBound though, this is a great deal.

If you're worried you won't understand it, you can always find a walkthrough of the game. Trial and error works too. The only thing I have to say is not understanding the language takes away from the experience. If you don't feel like paying over $100 on EarthBound though, this is a great deal.

Just received my order!!!
This game rocks! This is my first time playing Mother 1+2, both games that I never heard of or played since I was born in the 1989. It is sad they could of put it on Wii Virtual Console for english copies.
So far so good, Mother 1 is easy and bearly got Loid to join and Paula in Mother 2.
Just hope they restock Mother 3 befor I finish this game becuase I'm totally into it like a Man in a sandwich (Manwich!)
Itoi Rules, BOING!!

On It's Way
I asked a lot of people before ordering this and without EarthBound on VC this is my only real option. I've watched some videos and the music sounds fine. I can't wait for it to get here!

Super Excited!!
Ever since learning about the Mother series, I've been hooked! EarthBound is extremely expensive and not quite on the Virtual Console yet, so this is a much cheaper alternative, and, it's compact! I don't have it yet, but I can't wait until I get it!

And if you've never used Play-Asia before, don't worry about it. My product was promptly shipped within 24 hours and came in perfect condition. Earthbound was an amazing game, and the GBA Ver. is no exception!

Amazing
I bought this game with Mother 3. It's amazing how much of the game you can understand without knowing japanese. Though there are parts where a walkthrough or translation guide can help.

Perfect thing too buy with Mother 3
When I bought Mother 3, I bought this game to go with it. Thanks to my Earthbound experience, i was able too play through quite well without the use of a translation guide. If your a fellow mother fan that has played either mother game, and wants this game in there collection, buy it.

Second best to Mother 3
This is one of the best GBA games that have ever been created. You don't even have to understand Japanese to get the full impact of these TWO games. They are both excellent, and at such a cheap price you CAN NOT go wrong!

Mother 1+2 (Earthbound)
I would say that this is one of the best games in the history of Nintendo games and it is way underrated. It's unfortunate that the sales of the original SNES release were crappy and because of that, it's unlikely that Nintendo of America will ever localize this game.
Since the original SNES version is nearly impossible to find today and it's way overpriced on ebay, order this game! It's in Japanese of course, but it's not difficult to play. There are plenty of guides online to get you through the game. The sound quality isn't quite as good as the original SNES version, but it's still fun and enjoyable. In my opinion, the sound is quite good considering the fact that two games (with three save files per game) were squeezed into one cartridge. If you're a big fan of RPG games like myself, this game is a must for your collection.

Great game
This is one of those original RPGs. Most RPGs focused on the Middle Ages when Mother first came out on the Famicom. This one focused more on people with unique talents trying to save the world from this alien force. This does require Japanese reading though to understand commands, items, PSI. If you want a copy of this in English you can buy Earthbound(Mother 2) for the SNES.

A perennial favorite.
I was a big fan of EarthBound, and it's awesome that Mother 1 and 2 have been released on one cartridge (and manage to retain most of the graphic and sound quality).
For those of you with little or no Japanese skills, it's relatively easy to play and navigate your way through the game. A great addition to any collection!

Greatest Game Ever
This is the greatest game ever. I imported it when it first came out, however, unfortunatley for me, it was stolen from me. I'm now hoping to save up for a second copy. It was finished and everything, too.

Very Good Game.
This is one of my favorite games!
One of the best games since
Final Fantasy and Pokemon.
It has funny graphics dialogue,
etc!
The graphics may be obsolete, but
the game designers concentrated on making
a game that's FUN.
