description
Konami sprinkles a little old-school magic on the Game Boy Advance in Konami Collector's Series: Arcade Advanced.
Throughout the 1980s Konami was responsible for some awesome arcade games. Back when Reagan ruled the land and otherwise rational adults considered prime-time soap "Dynasty" the epitome of class, youths were pulling quarters from their stone-washed jeans and dropping them into high-tech arcade machines like Frogger.
Now, Konami has hand-picked six titles to appear on the Game Boy Advance. Besides the aforesaid Frogger, Konami's portable time machine includes Gyruss, Time Pilot, Scramble, Yie Ar Kung Fu and Rush'n Attack. Like vintage hair bands, some games have aged better than others the past 20 years, but each one is sure to send you on a trip down memory lane.
Frogger fans will be glad to see this classic is virtually unchanged from the original. Yie Ar Kung-Fu stands tall as a predecessor of modern fighting games. The-near perfect ports of Time Pilot and Scramble are sure to please, but the unique controls of Gyruss do not translate well to the four-direction pad of the Game Boy Advance.
Rush'n Attack, a personal favorite, makes a beautiful transition to the 21st century. The game play is as challenging as ever, while the Cold War theme has taken on the nostalgic glow of a Shirley Temple coloring book.
In Konami Collector's Series: Arcade Advanced classic gamers are sure to have a blast. Konami has even added new multiplayer modes to four of the titles, including a versus mode in Yie Ar Kung Fu and cooperative play in Rush'n Attack.
