Besides missing out on some of the extra modes, you have the core story and the great graphics, which more should make up for the lack of.. well the extra mode which i wont say

You play as Leon S Keneddy sent to rescue Ashley the presidents daughter, and before you know it you are caught up in well things that get way way way over your head

Needless to say this is resident evil re invented, you no longer walk like a tank, you can shoot people freely, aiming at whatever limb, head etc you like and watching the damage, you can climb up ladders, jump down etc, jump through windows, knife people etc

Review
One of the top 5 games of all times. Wonderful in every aspect. Resident Evil 4 is the best non-Nintendo game on the GameCube, and one of the systems best games. CapCom has removed everything that was bad from it`s previous titles, and made Resident Evil 4 close to perfect. This could be the game that makes way for a long and brilliant series of games.

Biohazard 4 in discounted price
Biohazard 4, a game that was scrapped many times. Afterall it returned to PS2. The first version of Biohazard 4 was Devil May Cry for PS2. But as development progressed the game deviated from the standards of Biohazard game and became DMC.
Then other versions of Biohazard 4 followed (fog version, hook man version, zombie version) but evetually they were all scrapped. Finally Mikami took over the Biohazard 4 project, wrote the story, directed it and along with the development team, they gave to Biohazard 4 its present form. Mikami directing again a biohazard game after the Biohazard 1 and Biohazard remake.
They game has changed, the story has changed from a standard Biohazard games. The now is action oriented with some horror moments. The camera is over the character's shoulder (ala Tomb Raider) an many actions performable in real time (ala Metal Gear Solid). The game is huge. The areas are huge. Lots of enemies-> The player has to face hordes of enemies(ganados, garradors, giants, gigantic salamander, etc).
I think that Mikami Shinji did a good job serving as the director one more time.
The PS2 version might have inferior graphics in compare to GC version (& not only that: the cut scenes are not real time anymore, probably FMVs!!!!!!!!)
but it has extra modes included. The extra stuff are: new costumes for Leon & Sherry, new weapons, The Another Order, Movie browser.

This discounted version has a bonus OST included with 14 tracks and appox 30 mins duration. Also I preordered Biohazard 4 and I got the Anniversary Special DVD ( don't forget that this year is the 10th Anniversary of Biohazard & 5th of Devil May Cry) that has: Biohazard 5 & DMC4 TGS 2005 trailers, promo videos, Wesker's Report (the one from Biohazard Code Veronica Kanzenban).

Overall a great game. The changes gave a fresh vivid breath in the biohazard series. Maybe some fans will not like the story but the story is addictive. Besides all the PS2 users can finally enjoy biohazard 4 on their system.

If you haven't bought the game just buy it right now!!

This is resident evil..... What else is there to say...
Ok Quick summary... Presidents daughter goes missing and Leon our hero from Resident evil 2 goes to find her in Europe.... Everyone knows what resident evil is all about and this has to be the best of the bunch. the control system has been changed from the rest of the series making a great improvement. If you have a japanese console this is recomended. Bonus being that its in English but even with the japanese version you should have any problems. Get this and Enjoy..... You wont be disapointed.

Stupendeous
This game brought everything that the GC version did and more. They have taken off the zombies but given you smarted opponents that have a built in AI system that no longer makes this just a hack and slash of slow walking creatures. They will lure you in and take you out and groups so don't be fooled!

This is one of the best (if not the best) games for the cube. Completely different to the other resident evil games which i didnt get on so well with. The graphics are amazing and really show what the cube is capable of. Highly recommeded !!!!

I was never a fan of the fixed cameras used in the previous games in the series. I was hesitant about picking up RE4 for the GC. I'm glad I did. Greatly improved cameras, good graphics, engaging story, awesome gameplay. Highly recommend!

the people voting on this don't get it
all the 5 star reviews seem to be for the game and not for the game + gun package. Like dalcimaius says, the gun is a really small trinket, not a full-blown replica. Looks like a waste of money.

No doubt about it, this is one of the best games on GCube! The game is a testament of GCube's capalities. Anyway, the japanese version is remarkably import friendly to the english understanding audience as the most key dialogue is in english. Some dialogue is in spanish. Main menus are in english, in-game menus and other text is in japanese. As always, you need a japanese console or the Freeloader software to play this version of the game. The japanese version comes with a making of -DVD, which is pretty interresting if you understand japanese. On the last note the game packeting is notably different from the european version. It's about half the size of the standard dvd-case, in which the PAL-games are supplied.

Help me Leon!
Great game. Better on the GC but for ps2 owners still a treat. The shortcomings in the ps2 version's gameplay are made up for with the new Ada Wong side missions which reveal more about what was going on behind the scenes when Leon was busy killing townsfolk. Fans of the series won't be disappointed.

The Man With The Biohazard Gun...
This should be done more often! Getting a gun replica is a REAL novelty. It's not every day that you get to hold a look a like gun from the wonderful Biohazard series (Resident Evil series outside of Japan). I have just ordered it and can not wait to receive it!

This truly is the best game ever. Having played it 8 times on GC and just finished it on PS2, I have to say wow. The graphics, the story, the sound everything. If God had made a game, this would have been it. By the way, if you say Halo 2 is better than this, then you are an absoloute dummy!!! I just can't say how absouloutley positively brilliant this is. I really am disappointed with the return of the zombies in resi 5, though. Los Gandos are so cool, but I think 5 should include Leon instead of Chris Redfield. Leon is so cool.

A big recommendation - one of the best games ever released!
This game is amazing! New gameplay which is very easy to pick up. Great features such as less loading time while opening doors (almost instantly), many guns such as sniper rifles, and many more. I do enjoy sniping the zombies/villagers, but the only weird thing is that they are smarter than you; I sniped them from VERY far away and if I missed they can sense where I am instantly and chase me down. It's still good & exciting, but I'm having like a KILLZONE type of feeling while playing. RE1 is simply more scarier out of all RE series but RE4 has the best controls, gameplay & views. This game is still a big big recommendation because it's simply one of the best titles ever released.

Comparing the other Resident Evil games to no.4 maybe unfair but you just can't deny the fact that everything about it outshines the previous efforts handsdown.
The Graphics are the best i've seen on pretty much any console game that is out at the moment, just showing that the Gamecube can still bring it with the big boys!.
The Gameplay has been changed up and improved, it suits the Gamecube Controller a treat.
Basically if you own a Gamecube then you must buy this game!, if you don't then go out and buy one! It is worth it just to play this game!!!!.

UNMISSABLE
This game seems certain to achieve legendary status like Super Mario 64 and other genre-defining classics of that stature. It's everything a Biohazard fan could've hoped for, and much, much, more.
Even if you're new to the series, the game will accomodate you as it's pretty-much independent from the other Biohazard games, and is radically different in nature. A lot of elements remain reassuringly familiar to veterans, but it focuses more on action rather than horror, and it's a change for the better.

Please, just buy a Gamecube for it if you have to. It REALLY is THAT good!

If you fancy getting this JPN version with the bonus DVD, it's a breeze to play with no real language difficulties. (^_^)

Though quite a detour from the original survival horror game that everyone fell in love with, it still lives up to the acclaimed name and brings new gamers into the world that is Resident Evil. Resi 4 is an absolute must have for anyone! Don't like it?? Go jump off a bridge i just don't have the time or patience for people like you! Resi 4 is a revolution in gaming experience! i haven't been so enthroughled in such a game for such a long time! LOZ:Ocarina was the last game that i felt this way about! It's just so much fun to play everytime you play it! The gameplay,sound,graphics and secrets and extras are all top notch stuff! But what about the resi story factor...? Well the story is there, but their is absolutely no word of whatever happened to chris,jill,claire,steve,sherry...considering their was so much debate over wether ashley was sherry or not i thought somethin about her would have been said! saying this though, it is no flaw in the game at all! The game is fantastic without any mention of these other characters exploits within the last 6 years! Resi 4 is a masterpiece, a classic before it was even released! It takes a rare quality to make a game so good, i'll enjoy it for years to come! Hey i still play resi 2 and love it! just can't wait to see what resi 5 has to offer us!

Although it took me a while to get hold of this game I can easily says that it looks like the game itself is a cutsene. I now know that I made a perfect choice in buying a Gamecube only for Resident Evil games, especially this one. A gamer should not miss this experience

Truly amazing
This game is so full of details you cannot imagine. Just when you pay closer attention to all those details those guys at Capcom spent their time to create and touch up every part of the game, it's breathtaking. I never believed they could surpass their previous Biohazard games with pre-rendered backgrounds with a 3D version of one, but they proved it can be just as good, if not better. You're in for some huge surprises in this game and the cooles RE girl is back (the one that I thought died in RE2), and she's as cool as ever. This just adds up to the mystery and makes me wonder when will Wesker appear next, in which sequel. Also, there are many cool scenes with Shenmue-like quick-events and direction of some action scenes is as good as that in MGS games. Furthermore, this game is long, it's 20+ hours of gameplay, no horror-survival game was ever this long, and it doesn't get boring for a second. Kudos to Capcom, they've outdone themselves.

What a game!
This game is simply amazng. It has everything. Great graphics, sound and gameplay, not to mention the storyline. The service from play-asia.com was brilliant as well. Ordered it on a Thursday night and had it on my doorstep on the following Wednesday morning. That is 6 days from Hong Kong to rural Ireland on standard air-mail. You can't argue with that!

Best Game Ever (in this Genre)
i couldn´t get my hands off when i started to play for HOURS. Usually i play only 1 hour continously, but this game didn´t let me go away for 5 hours !
Super awesome graphics, environment, athmosphere and play mechanics. Its a super scary and fun making game ! A MUST BUY !

mindblowing graphics, awesome atmosphere full of dread and foreboding. time just seems to vanish when you play it - 5hrs flew by in what seemed like 5 mins! Its a tour-de-force of how to make a modern video game, that just blows everything else out of the water. capcom have thrown down a huge evil-filled gauntlet to everyone else out there, can anyone possibly top this? i doubt it. long live the gamecube!

In Germany RE 4 comes out first in March , thats to long , and the US import cost here 69,95 € ...thats about uhm...85-90 $ i think..
However , i ordered it here and it was shipped at 27. January ... i guess i will receive it on thursday or friday..i cant no longer wait..in that time i will play the RE Remake on Gamecube ^^

The best I've seen this generation
I've played the game around 6 hours, and it's just awesome. Porbably the best graphics of all GameCube games, the best effects, a really nice story, an additive gameplay, a new perspective... it just have all you wish in new a Resident Evil... it would be a dream if it wasn't real, but it is, so come on an get it!!!!! Capcom win again
Resident Evil 4 is much different from it's other Predicessors offering lot's of Action and gunfighting almost non stop and there's plenty of fun to be had.
Hit detection is great and there are plenty of "actions" to perform at certain points and even interactive cut scenes that are similar to Shenmue's QTE but much smaller :)
There is a disturbing undertone to the game instead of full on scares and the game does a good job of keeping you on the edge of your seat with the constanct action and unsafeness of your surroundings.
All together Resident Evil 4 is a refreshingly brave change to the usual style of RE and come's out on top.
A great game all round you wont be dissapointed.

An incredible game
I've always liked the RE series, but never been able to play it (just didn't "get" it I suppose). This game is a monumental achievement for the franchise, as far as I am concerned. It is crazy fun, and even better looking than you think (yeah... better). Any gamer (read: not squeamish gamer) owes it to themselves, and their past-time, to give this game a try.

The graphics on this game are phemoenal, and the detection system when you shoot a zombie is highly advanced as well. Shoot them in the knee cap and they fall over ^^

Have been waiting for this game for an age it seems and now its finally here, Capcom you have done it again you have brought Resi back to life (hehe) with all new 3D and buying selling of items.
