A mystery movie in vein of Resident Evil (minus the zombies).
|
A game producer uses his girlfriend, Nami (Megumi Okina), as the heroine for their new video game.
They drive out to a mansion she just inherited from her dead father. Nami, for the first time, discovers that she has a twin sister but finds several horrible mummified young bodies.
Nami is suddenly attacked in the shower and almost strangled. Why was she attacked? Whats with the mummified bodies? What dirty family secrets lie in waiting for Nami to discover?
ST. JOHNS WORT is a mystery movie plain and simple, to expect any more from it would be a total disappointment.
The acting is alright and if youve seen JU-ON: THE GRUDGE youll no doubt recognise Megumi Okina as the lead.
The actors arent bad at all but they definitely wont win any awards for their performances, thats for sure.
As for the story, its pretty standard but it picks up a lot towards the end where the revelation feels very similar to SCOOBY DOO. The ending has a very cool twist to it when all is revealed but unfortunately they take it one step too far and ruin the impact it wouldve had on the viewer.
If you can ignore where they took the end too far you might really enjoy this.
I love mystery movies and this one isnt too bad, I just wish they didnt overuse the video game theme too much and it all wouldve been alright, not too bad though.
