I simply do not like this game
I love RPGs, I like 3rd person shooters, I am crazy about sci-fi, but I could not see what people like about this game. I did however enjoy the sequel. They changed many of the things that put me off about this game. I bought this game twice I wanted to like it so much but just could not get drawn in.
play it if MUST get the story for the 2nd or 3rd game, but before you start the 2nd game you are treated to a great movie that sums up all the events of the this game. IMO skip this one and move straight to the 2nd game, it is far more focused of an experience.

Epic RPG

This game stole my life
I was not sure weather I would like this game or not, but 40 hours of gaming in about a week and a half (during ordinary work weeks) reveals that I did. I basically did not do anything except eat, work and Play Mass Effect, and occasionally sleep. Time was taken from me, but I have no regrets! Now I know I just MUST have the second in the series. Great fun in space and with RPG concept. I have even though I finished the game yesterday already began playing again with a new character with a different personality... it will be so much fun!

Great RPG & 3rd Person Shooter
One of the best of its kind out there. For those who are new to the Mass Effect franchise, I suppose you guys can get Mass Effect 2 or wait for the third installment but it helps to play Mass Effect 1. The storytelling is great. Playing Mass Effect gave me a bigger picture in Mass Effect 2 to make the best decisions for my character.
