XCM 1080p Mega-Cool VGA Box
Even with using the AV component cables which came with my PS2 I can only get a black and white picture on my monitor. Absolutely dreadful. What a complete and utter waste of money!

One Amazing Little Device
The XCM Mega Cool VGA box is top ten one of the best and most useful things I have ever purchased. It actually does everything it says it does, and more.
Despite what people say about hooking this up to a PS2 and not getting an amazing picture quality, they need to look closer. When you are used to gaming on a tv that has horrible picture quality, and you can't read text or see anything in a dark room, then this is the product for you.
It literally makes playing games that are dark in nature such as Silent Hill, Resident Evil, and Devil May Cry look like they are set in daylight. Watching movies on it is insanely clear and sharp. It still blows my mind at the potential of what this little box can do.
My only advice is if you are planning on purchasing this, go out and get the Official Sony PS2/PS3 AV Component Cables and swap out the stock RCA cables that came with your system and use the included USB power cable that comes with the AV cables and hook it directly into your PS2/PS3 system. It allows you to turn off the box when you cut off your system.
It's simple to set up, easy to use and after awhile you know exactly what screen settings and refresh rates you prefer. The only thing I wish it done differently is the ability to save your current settings instead of having to set them everytime.
Otherwise I love this product and I wouldn't trade it for anything. It is a Godsend for people who just don't have the cash or don't want to spend an ungodly amount of money on a flat screen tv.
I personally am sold on this product, and if anything ever happens to mine, I will gladly purchase a new one. It is definitely a must for any gamer who wants to take their gaming experience to new levels without shelling out the cash for a high dollar tv.

Ok...but, no composite/s-video input and YUV cables
I have bought this VGABox because i have only a computer screen (22" HP) to watch TV or play video game.
There is just one thing, there are no composite/s-video input include in the box for all others game consoles (like VSmile for my daughter) .
Thanks to Play-Asia, but think to include a cable with it :S

a little bit dissapointing
The picture's quality is great! But you cant control the brightness, contrast, color, hue, sharpness on your own and the picture shown were result in dark and almost unplayable when running into the dark valley in the game. whenever you're buying vga box, these features is the most important of all! the rest is acceptable, though there's some interlace problem when the motion get too fast to render in the game e.g when the character are running, you could see the lines on the character shoulder as he swing while running.

Poor Quality
This product is not very impressive - a couple of points.
1) As another reviewer mentioned, the picture is very dark with this box - I have another VGA box made by another company to compare it to. There are no brightness/contrast controls to change this.
Using GTA San Andreas on the PS2, doing missions at night makes them almost unplayable.
2) The image quality is terrible when used with a PS2. Distortion, wavy lines on the screen, text is no-way near as crisp as when using my other VGA box.
The only reason for getting this is for the 1080p support.

Great tool if you know what you're doing.
This device doesn't allow you to record gameplay. You'll need a capture device/card for that. Only misleading thing about this was that the multi-component cable is not included.
Great this is that it only requires USB for power and it support pretty much every video quality there is.
Only downside is that you have to buy cables separately.

does not come with all cables needed.
doesnt work on regular vg cables(component only).
doesnt seem like there's a way to actually record videos and transfer images despite it's description, and high price

Very disapointing.
First of all this VGABOX does not come with a component cable! Which i find outrageous for the price.
The object look ok on the photos, but in reality it look, touch and SMELL cheap (and it is cheap).
Only positive point, it didn't exploded my monitor and PS3 when I turn it on (yet)
On my LCD monitor, Packard Bell Maestro 220w I can't go over 1280x1024 probably because of the 16:10 format while the PS3 expect 16:9 so this was basically useless for me and I can't recommend this product for anyone except if your monitor is 16:9 format and you already have a quality component cable.

Do not buy this!
Device is working but they never tested it with CRT monitor! I tested it with 3 different CRTs and with every of them 640x480x60Hz mode is useless because they used ridiculous timings. Also with 720p and 1080p I can see only part of screen... I must increase refresh rate(with is bad because animation become not smooth
anymore) or upscale resolution(with is also bad because of image distortion) to see something on screen.
Another thing are horizontal bars pop ups on screen when upscaling image from 480p into 1080p. You can even see it on XCM youtube video (at 6:41).
But the worst thing is dark image! If you want play on dark games like Metroid the you can't with it. It is not just normal dark image. They lowered gamma curve on beginning of it so first lower group of dark hues are black. Yep. I would say that first 40 colors from 255 are all black with this device. Hues from 41 to 255 are fine. So no dark games with it and games with lighter textures will lost darken detail.
I have another vga-box from Neonya for use with Xbox and that one is working fine with every resolutions with all my monitors. So from comparison XCM Mega-Cool Mistake with Neonya I can say that XCM is broken by design.
However I will not return it because I live in Poland and I paid so high customs and taxes fees and spend so much time to arrange all customs formalities(because play-asia forgot to attach invoice into the package) that it will not worth to go through it again.

I can finally play games again!
Hooked it up to my PS2, works like a charm. Love the USB power. This is definitely better than the similar product I bought in the past, and a little cheaper.
Worth it if you already own the HD monitor. Otherwise this + a new monitor will be about the same price as a half-decent TV, and the TV's picture quality WILL be better.

Overall a good piece of gadget
I am using this piece of gadget to connect my Samsung Monitor 2033 to my wii. Overall the output is nice but one thing is this piece of gadget lack the feature of remembering my preferred resolution settings. Everytime when I switch off and turn on the box, it goes back to the default setting. Another thing is I am not sure whether is it my Samsung 2033 problem or the box problem, so of my game namely, naruto series and sakura war, the display are weird with green and white lines. Overall this is still a good piece of "investment"

Pretty awesome
Let's me play PS2 and Wii on my HD monitor that doesn't have component or composite just fine, but it's too dark. Better than nothing though, I don't regret the purchase.

The mgea cool box is mega cool. Here are some facts about it:
- silver chassis looks nice but feels cheap
- connectors are sturdy and do not buckle
- input signal auto detection has no memory: manually changed resolution and refresh rate settings are not saved
- don't forget to switch your PS2 from RGB tu YUV beforehand
- picture quality is great (tested PS2 with 640x480, and the upscaling to 1024x768 and 1280x1024 is great as well)
I'd recommend it.

Works but PS2 & PSP disappointing
I bought this so that i could connect my PS2 through my new LCD monitor. It does the job i can play the PS2 on my monitor but the graphics look grainy and lower quality than what it does on my TV. Tried my PSP with it as well with again disappointing results. Going to fiddle with it more to see if i can get it to produce better quality video, otherwise will stick with PS2 on my TV.

Poor image quality with PS2
I used the XCM Box to connect my PlayStation 2 to a Samsung 20" 1680 x 1050 LCD display. It did the job, but produced an annoying background pattern of dark green horizontal lines. This isn't noticeable during bright scenes but is quite distracting during dark ones.

Horrible...
Do not even bother wasting your money on this one. It has horrible ghosting issues when converting component signals to VGA. Even on the highest resolution, games are rendered virtually unplayable, the colours are atrocious and it is extremely pixellated. Tested using Xbox 360 & PS2.

Great quality!!
I bought this device approximately 2 months ago for my PS3 and I am very satisfied with it!! It is even possible to put to it its PS2!! A lot choice of resolutions! For my part I turn(shoot) on 1600*1200 on 1 cathode-ray screen!! It is the must in YUV especially if you possess 1 PS3!!

Nice VGA Box
I've bought this vga box two months ago, image quality is verry nice with Xbox (1080p) but it isn't necessary for Wii because the output resolution is only 640*480.
Only problem, i have a pixel line of 1 cm like a mirror on the right but it isn't verry embarrassing...

Amazingly Mega Cool VGA Box!
I hooked up my PS2 to my 18.5 inch lcd monitor using this XCM Mega Cool VGA box and wow what a sight to witness it was! I have the normal third party component av cables, but now I am planning to get the official sony component av cable to get even better picture quality. It shows picture without any lag. The text is way much clearer and sharper. This is the best VGA box you want for any console out there today in the market. I have seen other videos showing this box working with Wii, XBOX360, PS3 and they all were superb. But I never found a good video for PS2, still I risked buying it, and I am not regretting. It's worth every penny. But I had to shell out extra 32 dollars for the custom duty and octroi crap. If only play-asia had mentioned lower price on the package, I would have escaped paying that. But anyways, I am loving this thing and it's beautiful indeed!

Great for PS3 / 360, bad for Wii / PS2
I bought this comverter box so I could use my Wii with my Dell 23" full-HD 1080p monitor. The results were lacking - while the image was *definitely* sharper and up-converted, the colors were washed out, and blocky scan lines were easy to spot. However, when I hooked up a Playstation 3 and set the video output to 1080i, it looked superb, with great color balance and no noticeable scan lines.
This VGA box is lag-free, and great for hooking your HD console up to your monitor. However, if you aim to use an SD or ED console, such as the PS2 or Wii, don't bother, as you're better off with a good pair of component cables and a TV that supports 480p.

Great quality!!!
Although the PS2's picture quality becomes quite ugly, the PS3's is amped alot higher. You can see more detailed stuff on your screen as opposed to a composite cable.
screen size is adjustable which is good, coz you can choose your own size. Switching between PS3/PS2 and PC is quick and easy.
Tested with PS2, PS3 and PC on my 19inch Samsung SyncMaster 930B monitor.

Beautiful
I plugged in everything turned on my Ps3 and wow this VGA box is incredible. The video quality is superb. Perfect for the PS3 and the Xbox 360. I have no idea why the other viewers dont like it.

I dont know what the pother reviewers are talking about. this box was shipped to me rather fast. It works perfectly. clear no lag. I'm using a 22" Samsung dvi/vga. 1680 x 1050. This product is great as far as im concerned.

Lots of PROBLEMS........
MMMMMMM.... Lets take a look..
Well this VGA box has lots of problems ... first of all it only ships with USB cable . Second is you have to get a gender converter to convert VGA input.. Third you have to get audio link cables and extra VGA cable... Fourth it was failed to pass 100% correct signals either from PC or any console...
You have to use original VGA cables (gold plated) to get best result .. but it can help you to get 98% of actual signal..
If you put a blank dark light plane color on your LCD screen. You can able to find some diagonal lines which was disturbing your actual display quality and you can also see slightly blur on some places on your screen....
But if you can compromise those problems that is for you and it pass approx 98% of actual signals form PC and Console....
So best deal is that .... Go to the market and buy a new LCD for your console .. that is the best investment of your money...
Don't waste money .. it is hard earned...

Best VGA box for the Wii
Finally a VGA box that can handle the PAL 576i.
Now I can launch my old NGC games on my VGA screen.
I was using the Vdigi and the XCM 1080P but now this one is the ONLY one to acquire if you want the best VGA box for your Wii.
The only issue is about the image quality, not as good as the Vdigi or the XCM 1080P.

Gets the job done.
This box does exactly as advertised. The only problem is that it's really only the best for PS2 or games that require 480i. It handles all the different resolutions but they look kind of choppy and grainy on my monitor. For use with PS2, Gamecube, and the original Xbox. I'd recommend this box, but for PS3, 360, and Wii I'd have to recommend the XCM 1080P VGA BOX Plus. Also, this box does not come with any cables, only the USB cable needed to supply power. The XCM 1080P VGA BOX comes with cables for all supported systems.
