Four and a half years after Konami has published their last GuitarFreaks & DrumMania home console version, the series has finally been brought back to life with this long-awaited Bemani game sequel. The game successfully combines two great Arcade games into one PlayStation2 software: GuitarFreaks V + DrumMania V. Apart from the two individual and quite different game modes, a session play where both instruments are used at the same time has also been implemented.
GuitarFreaks V & DrumMania V contains a total of more than 60 tunes, including assorted genres for everyone's taste. The PlayStation2 version features exclusive home original modes, such as the "Free Mode", "Training Mode" and "Record". The game also supports a data exchange mode with Konami's pop'n Music 12 and Dance Dance Revolution Strike releases.
Fun stuff Good game, with an interesting song selection and a unlock system that'll take forever to get through. The buttons however can not be re-mapped for the use of a guitar Hero styled controller so you need to get the konami one.
There is a link Between this game and DDR STR!KE and Pop'n music Iroha [12] in that you must have a save file of both games to unlock one song respectivly.
In the end its a satisfying arcade port but Masterpiece Silver is deffintly the way to go.
