The music for Silent Hill 3 is the best of the four games. If you do not have the "Art and Music of Silent Hill" DVD this is the CD for you.

Perhaps the best SH OST for pure listening enjoyment.
SH3's OST strikes a great balance between the nightmarish SH1 OST and the beautifully melodic SH2 OST. In my opinion it's the best one to relax and just listen to; it's never as harsh as SH1, but never as subdued as the very scene-oriented SH2. Above all it's a very atmospheric, immersive album from start to finish.
Musically it's far more elaborate and developed than the first two, with masterful examples of Akira Yamaoka's melodic talent ("Dance With The Night Wind") as well as his gift for unnerving ambient music ("Prayer"). In between are songs that display all of his talent, like "A Stray Child," simultaneously a pretty and very dark track.
Overall it's a pleasure to listen to. Get SH1's OST to be scared; SH2's if you've played the game and can appreciate the songs' emotional context; but if you're a fan of atmospheric music, simply get this soundtrack.

Einfach nur geil! (Von Julian Huber)
Ich hab zwar nur den deutschen Soundtrack, der hier aufgeführte 26. Track fehlt mir also auf meiner CD, ich kenne ihn jedoch von der UMD "The Silent Hill Experience". Schade, schade, denn diesen Song könnte ich nur rauf und runter hören...
Aber auch der Rest ist sehr gut! Die Musik setzt sich aus einer bunten Mischung aus Pop, Rock, Industrial und etwas Instrumental zusammen und das Ergebnis ist einfach nur genial und stimmungsvoll. Im Spiel kommt die Musik ja nur sehr dezent zum Einsatz, so ist es bei allen SH-Spielen.
Die Musik ist dynamisch, kraft- und doch gefühlvoll. Zwar hat mich der Gesang von Melissa Williamson nicht so ganz überzeugt aber man kann es sich anhören...
Joe Romersa kommt dafür aber mit einer hammerharten, tiefen Jazz-Stimme daher und macht einen sehr guten Job.
Insgesamt sehr gut gelungen! Trotzdem finde ich den Soundtrack zu SH2 immernoch ungeschlagen...

A great soundtrack for a great game
This has to be one of the most well made horror games, in sh3 you can experience many things, from love to pain, and this is the first time that Akira Yamaoka added vocals to the silent hill music and you can find them in this soundtrack, the voice of Mary Mc Glinn will make your skin chill, if you really like silent hill and vocals then this is for you, it's a shame that they didn't include the track called "The Waiting" from the save screen it really got me deep, is one of the best SH tracks ever, this CD is highly recommended for all SH fans.
