Perhaps Hamauzu's Best Album Yet
Masashi Hamauzu has not had as much work as other videogame composers, but that may ultimately be to his benefit, as his work is rarely flat or considered "filler". The quality of the live instrumentation of this album, focusing on strings such as violin and piano, and experimenting with the implementation of techno into his melodies is a very refreshing method. The style that he has composed, one of conservative and modern sounds, rarely makes a misstep in appealing to its audience. Being commissioned to assist with Final Fantasy X's soundtrack and the whole of Final Fantasy XIII's soundtrack should only give you more confidence in considering purchasing his work. A much better value than other game soundtracks, I assure you.
