This is a remake of two games: Langrisser (known as Warsong in USA) and its sequel, Langrisser II – or, better to say, the enhanced version of this sequel, known as Der Langrisser.
In the first game, you play the role of prince Ledin, the son of Isaac, king of Baltia. The evil Emperor Deigoz heard about the legendary magic sword Langrisser which was kept in Isaac's castle, attacked Baltia and killed the king. Ledin had to flee, and his goal is now to reclaim his kingdom back and to defeat Deigoz.
In the second game, the Rayguard Empire, the new superpower in the world, is searching for Langrisser's counterpart, an evil magic sword called Alhazzard. They kidnap the princess Riana who might know the whereabouts of the sword. Ledin's son Elwin and his friends have to stop the empire generals and to prevent them from finding Alhazzard.
The remake features the Ultima-style character creation (you choose between various answers to morally provoking questions) introduced in "Der Langrisser", and also offers branching storyline (you can be good or side with the evil forces, if you wish).
