Pastel Ink
Pastel Ink.
Moetan.
Nendoroid.
Good Smile Company.
No.37.
Sculpted by Nendoron.
Distributed by Good Smile Company.
Certified by Pastel Ink Cheering Party.

Sculpt:

Pastel Ink ridiculously cute, from her big yellow bow to her lollie-pop. She is classic Nendoroid style with a big head and a little chibi body. Some nice details to note is her clear green ball on her top, which is very nice, her litter frills on the sides of her leotard and bottom of her hair, which are all sculpted well and look great. Apart from that not much to say, except that she comes with two yellow bows which plug into her back, one for normal standing pose and one with shorter bits for sitting down, which is a very nice touch, and makes posing easier.

One complaint is that on her sleeves she has yellow ribbons on her straight arms and not on her bent, which makes a mix of straight and bent arms look a bit odd.

7/10

Paint:

Pastel Ink’s paint job is very good. She has a lot of shading which makes her hair and leotard look very nice. Her face is very nicely done, and her colour scheme just adds to her cuteness. One thing I love is that she has a little bit of blush on her cheeks. Over all a very good job of painting.

Pastel Inks accessories are painted nicely, although the red bow on her lollie-pop is a bit messy. Her other faces and limbs are well painted though, and so is her chair.

8/10

Pose:

Pastel Ink uses the standard Nendoroid joints and articulation.

At her hips she has a Nendoroid joint, which allow her legs to move forwards and back and turn in an out and move side to side, Pastel Ink also comes with a pair of legs which are in a sitting position and peg into her hip.

Her hands are on pegs and can swivel around, and her shoulders have a peg so her arms can move forward and back, and that is the extent of arm movement.

Her neck is on a Nenodoroid joint and can move up and down, and side to side.
Pastel Ink also has two joints at each of her pony-tails.

Nenodoroids do not have a great range of movement and articulation, but what they lack in posability they make up for with cuteness.

Plus all the Nendoroid joints have smiley faces molded into the ball part of the joint, which is very cute.

Unfortunately for me my Pastel Ink was carrying a terrible joint flaw. As I was doing the sculpt shots, where in her neck was barely touched or moved her neck joint snapped! Poor Pastel Ink brand new and already broken, well I thought no big-deal I can use a joint from another of her faces, but alas it wasn’t to be, when I picked up her other face and moved the joint back and forward to check its stability it snapped also! At this point I was rather annoyed, as I was in no way being rough with them, in fact to joints felt very loose and moved, and snapped far to easily. But I had one left and so I very carefully extracted it from it head, and could clearly see that this peg had a crack, and If I was to move the joint back and forward it would snap like the others.

Apparently I have been told this was a particular flaw with the Pastel Ink Nendo, I am just lucky I had another Nendoroid, if not it would have been a worse predicament. I have since noticed though that she has a small crack on one of her hair joints, I am going to try and use super glue or something as a filler on it so that it doesn’t break! So I don’t know whether I just got some bad luck with this Nendoroid or if it is serious malpractice, as I only own this Nendoroid and Raspberyl, so I am not sure whether I bother to lay a complaint or not, what do you all think?

Over all a very low score for this one as I lucked out with the joints 4/10

Base:

Pastel Ink comes with the special Nendoroid stand. Made of clear plastic it has a little pole but instead of a little saddle, she has a piece which goes in between her bow and her back, securing her to the stand. This piece can slide up and down the pole at different heights.

She also comes with a piece which plugs into the stand of a 1/8 scale figure of herself which Good Smile Company also made.

6/10

Packaging:

Paste Ink comes with the standard Nenodoroid box, with a window at the front, little windows and a picture of her posing on the each side, and on the back pictures of her posing with her accessories, and other info, with her authorization and warning statements (all writing in Japanese)

Inside the box she is held between two molded pieces of plastic, with a space for her all her accessories. This is standard Nendoroid packaging. Also take note of the authorization, each figure should have one.

7/10

Enjoyment:

I will break down my review of enjoyment into two categories, accessories, and play value.

Accessories:

Pastel Ink comes with a number of accessories. First of all she comes with a little chair, and related to this are her sitting legs, and her extra yellow bow which has shorter pieces so she can sit down properly, a very nice touch by Good Smile Company. She also comes with two bent arms, and closed fist hands, a pointing hand and a hand for holding her lollie-pop. She has two extra faces, one depressed or tired looking face, and one stubborn yet crying face, very cute indeed. And of course her little girl lollie-pop.

Play Value:

Pastel Ink is just so damn cute. With her good number of accessories and very expressive faces I can see a lot of play value to be had, and she has already had some with Raspberyl, however I do not think she would see her broken neck getting fixed as playing. With two Nendoroids I can now envision a few very fun scenes to act out.

Enjoyment is a 9/10

Overall, and despite the broken neck joints I thoroughly enjoy Pastel Ink and recommend her (hopefully you won’t have the problem I had). She is a uber cute figure to add to my collection, and I can see her and Raspberyl getting up to a lot of mischief
