The classic series, "Bomberman" is making its grand entrance on the PSP. Besides retaining its trademark scenes and character settings, the main characters have been boldly remade with combat heroes added, making the game more boisterous. The story depicts the player character, Bomberman, being attacked by other worldly bad guys and transformed into Irobom, The challenges posed in alternative classic stages will make you eager to return to this adventure against evil.
Not great, not bad. This is not quite what I expected of bomberman, but I can't complain too much. The only reason I ordered this was to have a portable bomberman game, and that I could get it cheap. Let me tell you that it'll be a little disappointing, but you may very well get over it.
Bomber Man Blast Squadron actually has more english than you'd expect, just enough to get you through important menus and get playing. The loading time isn't long at all, although a somewhat often occurance. I'd still blame the PSP more than the programmers for this.
As for the game. You'll start out with only classic mode, which looks quite cheap, as it is supposed to be a 3D pixelated version with 3D polygonal field and background. Its not classic, its just crappy. The power starts too low and so you'll feel like you are struggling somewhat to get started. Once you manage to make it past the Classic mode, you character will morph into its super hero form or you will enter arrange mode. From here, the characters look like Power Rangers versus the putty patrol in random areas. Its definitly an interesting change. The comic book style text adds a little graphical flava, but otherwise is unecessary. And you now get super bombs, which are kinda hard to explain since its in japanese but I would assume that each character has their own special. The music is decent, nothing exciting, but nothing to sleep to. And then there are extras that I couldn't expain as of yet, but apperently you may be able to change the body shapes later on, probably a mix and match kinda thing. I also couldn't tell you about the multiplayer function either, but playing upto 4-players on 1 UMD also isn't bad, so when you get your friends past anything that may be in japanese, you'll be set.
I wouldn't call it at all a bad game. Its nothing great and wow, but its bomberman, and not that ACt zero crap on the X-Box 360. You can only do so bad with bomberman, and if you are looking especially just for a cheap multiplayer game, now you can get one.
Change for bomberman is not good! Wow, this is such a unique game. (NOT a good unique). Thank heavens the price was cheap. I have always been a big bomberman fan, but this game was awful.
It is easily set to English for most of the game, but the characters in the story mode are tiny, ugly and boring.
The classic mode makes you feel like you are playing legos bomberman instead, I definitely preferred it over the story mode though.
I don't know what Hudson was thinking when they released this game.
I don't have serious regrets over buying this game as the reduced price was reasonable. If this game had been full priced, I would have been very angry.
As usual, great service from Play-Asia, flaky from Hudson!
