A Worthy Portable Sequel
Valkyria Chronicles, despite not knowing much about it, turned out to be one of my favorite PS3 games. The gameplay was addicting, the graphics were beautiful, and the best part, the story, kept you intertwined in the world. Valkyria Chronicles 2 is much of the same, except it is now on a smaller screen with a different cast of characters.
The gameplay of Valkyria Chronicles is nearly identical to the original. The biggest difference are the changes to the class system. Classes are now upgradable after gaining enough experience. Sniper is now an advanced version of Scout. The game also introduces a new class called the Armored soldier which is a strong defensive unit.
Knowing that the series transitioned from the PS3 to the PSP should make it clear that the game just won't be as good looking as it was on the PS3. The original Valkyria Chronicles to me was probably the most visually pleasing game on the PS3 because the clarity of the animated characters was so vivid. The PSP sequel unfortunately does not reach this level. The portrait cutscenes are no longer 3D rendered, but static pictures. The level of detail in the battle characters has also taken a significant drop. The colors are just as lush, but the game looks a lot more jagged. This of course is to be expected, it's just that the transition from the PS3 to the PSP was very strong. Valkyria Chronicles 2 is a relatively good looking PSP game.
The music is just as satisfying as the first. The music feels very grand which fits the setting of the game. Battle sounds and voices are also very strong.
Valkyria Chronicles 2 is a game worthy of a sequel. The only thing fans of the original will have to get used to are the lowered visuals and the transition to the PSP. But that is really a negligible point as the overall experience is just as great as the first, with an engaging story and addictive gameplay.

This is an fantastic sequel to the amazing Valkryia Chronicles. Whilst the story is not as deep as the prequel, the game play mechanics have undergone some notable improvements. The wonderful water colour painting visual style is back and the game looks incredible for a PSP game. This is a must-own for anyone who loved the first Valkryia game, it is a sheer joy to play this game.

too good to deny
No matter you are a Valkyria Chronicle fans or not, this game is strongly suggested to get one.
As you can see, the average rating is obviously very high.
Even if you already played 150+ hrs, it is probably that you still cannot 100% complete this game and would like to continue playing. Tons of download missions make this game even more rich in content.
Varied and interesting gameplay which is well improved comparing to the first one on PS3, addictive music, stunning main storyline and varied side characters' event, all these factors make this game one of the best PSP game ever.

Great follow up
An improvement over the first game, which was already fantastic. Definitely worth playing.

This game is a must buy for VC fans
Really fun play, a little storyline here and there. A whole new "job" system, get job requirements and upgrade your units. Must buy!
Only thing I didn't like is, you could only use 6 units per mission. But I guess that's how the game works.
