Initial D: Street Stage is the long awaited port of the arcade smash hit, Initial D: Version 3. Street Stage brings all of the game modes straight out of the arcade into your PSP. Players can race head to head via wireless Ad-hoc or take on the racers straight out of the anime! Street Stage introduces a new card system for customization of their vehicle. For every race/battle you win, a card is awarded. Different cards provide different effects, so the more you race, the more powerful your car can be! Street Stage features over 200 cards to collect.
Thanks Play Asia! I am one happy customer, i bought this game and got economy air bubble, i got it in 6 days! ^^ The game itself is really good, its like an exact port of arcade version 3. Plus the manual is in english! :D There is legend of the street where you can fight the characters from the manga, ( If you havent read it you should.) And once you beat everyone of them theres this thing called "bunta's challenge" Anyway, the game was in perfect condition when i bought it, and i have to say that this is the best game you can get for your psp, if you have a psp YOU MUST GET THIS GAME. Sidenote: This game works on every psp no matter what country your in ;o ( I am aware some of these things are self explanatory for you initial d players, however im explaining it to someone who has no idea what initial d is ;o )
Anyway, as i said above if you have a psp BUY THIS GAME

You liked the Arcade...Now you'll like the game! Its time to get Initialized with Sega's new release of Initial D Street Stage. You are the main character of this game! You take on more than 20 racers with more than 10 long-lasting stages. Unlike the arcade, you can unlock more soundtracks, obtain special cards that may enhance your vehicle or unlock bonus features, like sound effects, original artwork, and much more. If you are a big fan of racer titles, and you just love that dam-n series, this is the right game for you.
Pretty good, but gets boring... Don't get me wrong, I love Initial D. That being said, when I finally got a PSP I knew that this was the first game I wanted to get, and I did. And I loved it.
So I played it. And I played it. After about a month and a half, I was just...done. The controls were too difficult to do certain techniques and get really good times on the courses in time attacks, the tuning system is just flat out annoying, and Bunta Challenge is very easy. It's a great game, but it may not last you very long.

amazing i bought that game in about less then 2 weeks i got the game and havent been able too put it down, play asia was fast and easy to buy from! i am a customer for life now after how i was treated thanks play asia i recomend u to all games!!!
Pure racing Intuitive menus (easy to understand thanks to the GREAT english manual) make this a FLAWLESS arcade port. The only negative would be the audio, naturally aspirated car have a really repetitive whir noise lol. But thats just sticking true to the arcade which has the same :S. The STi has one hell of a blow off valve though :D ANYWAY, great game DEFINITLY worth 33 bucks for ANY intiald/wangan/tokyo extreme/import racer fan with a PSP.

Wildly addictive, best game for Initial D fans and drift fans alike Street Stage is possibly the most addictive game, and possibly the best game on the PSP (it's a fight between it and MGS:PO). It's almost arcade perfect, the only thing it's missing is the steering wheel and the shifter. Good sound, graphics are a bit of a downgrade from the arcade version, but hey, it's a PSP. Easy if you know how to play IDASV3 (the only thing is practicing to be as good as you really are in the arcade version). Only thing that should've been added: ONLINE!!! Yes, this game has multiplayer, but none of my friends have it, and I want SOME kind of competition besides the computer controlled ones. But oh well, IF YOU LOVE INITIAL D AND/OR DRIFTING AND/OR ARCADE RACERS, THIS IS A DEFINATE MUST BUY!!!

PERFECT GAME!!!!!! This is really a very very good game, one of my favorites
There is no substitute This game is awsome altough some of the handling is loose this is exactly the adrenaline fix I needed. I feel like when I battle I can't take my eyes away. I would suggest for anyone willing to try something new. Since I am a HUGE! fan of the show I had to have it and this game did not dissapoint. the tracks, characters, cars and just the feel of the entire game blew me away. A definite must have for any fan
Snooze-fest Wow! I can't believe it. Usually, I don't stand alone in my reviews! I tend to go with the majority. But this game was so boring. Maybe I"m not a super arcade freak for this game. I have played it from time to time in an arcade here in San Francisco. But this game really bored the hel1 out of me. I'm surprised by all the glowing reviews.
First of all, most folks must not understand the language being spoken. I suppose some folks can understand it. But I can't.
The races: When you race, you're on a dark street all alone, with very little interaction or scenery around you. As Homer Simpson would say: Borrinnng. I honestly thought this would give Gran Turismo Portable a run for its money. But this doesn't even come close! (Hey, when is Gran Turismo Portable coming out? I just looked it up; March 2007, and it was the USA version listed at Play-Asia.) Wow! Can somebody clue me in on who and why this game is so popular?
Easily the best PSP game I've played. This is a very close port of IDASv3, minus the Akina Snow track, and it's brilliant. The only problems I had were control issues thanks to the PSP analog nub, not the game itself.
Very, very addictive game. This is something you will find yourself playing "just one more race" all the time.
Great Game Initial D fans will love it. In addition this one is a very high quality game worth buying. I highly recommend this one. Play the game at hard setting with #5 steering option, it becomes much more fun.
Better than I expected. For a portable version, I'm quite impressed with its graphic. Not the best I have ever seen on PSP(hopefully GT4 is better). If you plan to buy this game, make sure you know what you are doing. I must say, the control is extremely sensitive(for me anyway). And buy Asia version if you don't know Japanese because it comes with a manual in English.
Best PSP Game I've Ever Got! I played the Arcade before and it was fun. I also loved the anime. So i decided to buy the game. Guess what?! I LOVED it! It's really fun just like the arcade. Best racing game I've ever played. The shipping took only one and a half week, it's my fault for picking the slowest shipping.
best game ever made initial d street stage is one of the best game that ever came out for the psp this really is a must have for all you racers out there some people say the controls suck some say it sucks cause its not based on a point system but when i bought and played it the controls are perfect and so what if its based on a card system i dont mind and the gameplay is hella fun feels like your playing from the arcade i recommend buying from playasia.com though cause when they say it'll be there in 5 days and well enough it will come to you in five days i will order from here again no doubt about it plus it has an english manual so it'll make it easy to get through and straight to the gameplay
best game made for the psp initial d street stage is the real deal man.......... so what if its based on a card system instead of a point system at least you aint spending lots of money in the arcade not to mention play-asia's right on time shipping
Initial D Street Stage is a must buy!! By far the best racer on psp!...without a doubt...ive never played Initial D before but ive always wanted too...verry verry impressed...im a hugh fan of the intial d series...if you like initial d you need this game...super sweet....and the music is really cool 2...and thanks play-asia for a speedy shipping...only took a week to get from hong kong to north carolina...not bad...2 thumbs up play-asia...ill be buying from you guys again!
Excellent racer for the PSP. Initial D: Street Stage is probably one of the best arcade-style racers on the PSP right now. Even for those not initiated with the Initial D license, the game offers fun (and not so realistic) racing with the opportunity to customize your car. For those who are familiar with Initial D, Street Stage is a fairly accurate conversion of Arcade Stage version 3, with some notable omissions (lack of a points system, no snow options). The card collecting system (which replaces the points system) is strange at first, but in no time you'll be aiming to collect them all.
best game but missing a mode initial d street stage is the best racing game hands down...but its missing a mode. story mode. like playing as tak and racing downhill on akina while cole is in da car or racing down akina while balancing a cup of water. other than that best game hands down
best psp game so far.. i just got this game today.and playasia is by far the best import game store that i had shop at.about the game,im a fan since the series started.i love the game from the moment i load it up,and may i say the loading was great.the only problem i found was the card system.i mean it would be nice if u get a deck to mess around with.but all you get are random cards that by any luck you can finaly mod your car.but dont look away from this game due to some minor issue.this game really shine on the psp.a must buy
Downfall They only down fall the Initial D PSP game is, ITS NOT ON THE POINT SYSTEMS...its on a cards system every race u race/finish u pick 3 cards..ither tuners or just ppl giving u hint etc...but other then that I LOVE IT
Lightning fast shipping and awsome game! Hands down one of the best games for the psp. I now have a game that alot of people in the states dont have. It shipped 4 days before projected and arrived at my house in the states 4 days later!!! Will definetly be back to buy more games. Highly recommended to buy this game.
Best game for the psp hands down!!!=D For all of you initial d fans this is a collectable that you do not want to miss out on!!!!!i was sceptical at first but as soon as i turned on i was hooked this is a collectable for sure even if it is in japanese that makes it that more worth the wait i got it in a about a week after they shipped it... the rendering of the game to the story line was great i just cant wait to see it in action in ad hoc mode!!! so for anyone looking for a great game this is worth the money.....plus at it this way you pay just as much for it with the air bubble shipping as you do for one in the states in english!!!!(actually you save like 8 dollars)and if japanese in america retail at frys is like 70 dollars Ouch!!!!
aznmc gives this one 10 stars and 2 thumbs up
Why spend a lot of money at the arcades when you have it in your PSP Recomended for all initial d enthusiast. Steering may be awkaward to get used to, but it takes only one day to get used to it. IMO, having a card mode makes you play more to to unlock so much stuff. It's worth the time to play like 24 hours a day lol. You'd want to keep on playing till you full tune your car.
This kinda like IDAS ver. 2.9 because there's no Haruna Snow stage, but it's all good. Maybe it'd be hard to control on the PSP or something lol!
Great game. nuff said. what can I say?, I love eurobeat, I love Initial D, read a lot of reviews on the game, didn't have a PSP, went and bought one just for this game and I don't regret paying a single cent. If you love blowing a bunch of change at the arcade you'll love having the arcade in your hands for free with you at any time of the day :D. The japanese isn't hard to pick up on really but I'm still encouraged to learn the language for some parts, AND the console strap is so cool!.
Well worth the $60 or $70 in my opinion. a must get.
Great racing game First i would like to say thanks PlayAsia for a speedy delivery for the cheapest price. One week for three dollars, it doesnt get better than that.
This game is simply great. It does not have a great feel like a Ridge Racer, but it has something else that Ridge Racer does not have, substance. This game has style! From the characters from the comic book to the hills of Japan, this game has a great feel and look to it. It has great cars, a lot of the same car with minor differences, and it also has great tracks. The tracks are difficult but not too hard. They show enough variety that when you are racing a track in reverse you dont even realize you jsut raced the same track. The Japanese can be hard to get used too, but with a great instructions manual this game is a breeze to navigate. I would recommend this game to any racing fan especially any Initial D fan. A must buy for import lovers.
Great game! Although I'd have to say the delivery was extremely slow, I'd definitely say it was well worth the wait.
It doesn't compare to arcade version, mainly because the arcade version is more realistic(feeling), of course :), but VERY fun. Harder to control too, but after you get used to it you enjoy not having to pay for every race =D, and the fact that you get to choose from any of the cars to use to race is a bonus.
Get your copy NOW!!!! For all you Initial D fans this is the perfect game for you...its basically the arcade in your own hands except for the steering wheel and pedals..but its worth it....i played this game all day and actually learned japanese....its not hard to navigate the menus..considerin you probably played the arcade version like over 800 times....but this is a MUST HAVE game....SO BUY NOW!!!!
Great game I was addicted to the arcade game, and this is a pretty much perfect port, only missing the Akina Snow track and adding a bit of motion blur on the corners. Also there is a new card tuning system which can either put you prematurely ahead of the game tuning wise or leave you lagging behind, depending on how lucky you are.
I have played this more than any other PSP game I own, and would highly reccomend it despite its few flaws.
A damn good port of the arcade I ordered mine a few weeks ago and it came finally last week. i gotta admit, playing on a handheld system was difficult for me first, but after a few runs, I'm enjoying the game more and more. Its very challenging even for an expert player. The opening, BGM, and stages are done very well, and the menu is really easy to navigate even if its in Japanese. A must have any Initial D or racing fan. Pick it up, you will love it!
Best PSP game ever! This game is the best! I ordered mine around 2 weeks ago and after a patient wait I got it yesterday!
I ripped off the game and chucked it into my PSP. OH! A very good reminder to all who are still waiting for their copies to arrive. Make sure you charge up your PSP and even better upgrade it to firmware 2.60 as this game requires it to play!
Anyhoo, I was amazed once the game started up! It doesn't take long to learn how to navigate through a Japanese menus thanks to the helpful English menu and the game just blows me away! I was hard-glued to it for the whole day. The game graphic, SE, BGM and gameplay are just too good to put in words. Especially on a little PSP! A very highly recommended game to own if you are an Initial D fans!
Thanks to Play-Asia with the best price and very informative purchase order. A very worth it game after a long wait!
Simply Amazing! Finally, now I don't have to go to the arcades and pay $1 USD per play. The graphics look just like, if not, better than the arcade version. Just the fact that it works with the US version PSP made me pick it up. I like the anime and I definitly enjoy drifting. So when I'm not playing the game, I'm probably on the tracks. For those of you who love racing games and haven't had the chance to try Initial D, just get it. You won't regret it.
Fast delivery & Superb gameplay Thought was gonna wait a while for the delivery but it came before the estimated timeframe. Good job thr, Play-Asia!!
Must say this game is SUPERB. Being a fan of the anime, this game really satisfy the lust to "participate" in the action. Only prob now is to master the controls.
The coolest PSP game so far I have never played v3 in the arcade, and since I have a UK PS2 I was never able to play that version of the game either, so for me it has been a great pleasure playing this game.
Most of the reviews focus on the game being good as an arcade port, but even if it wasn't, it is still a great PSP game. There is a lot of Japanese in the game, so those of you who find that off-putting, be aware. As far as I am concerned, it adds to the charm of the game.
There are various modes in the game, but upgrading your car takes a while and the original tunning of the vehicles is not always the most comfortable.
The graphics, for the PSP are great, and in some ways is showcases the processing power of the machine as the tracks have an extraordinary amount of trackside detail which is both coloruful and flys by at a scorching pace. The shading nd lighting is especially impressive and the game is a sheer pleasure to play just to look at it. The great thing about Initial D is that it has an animated style, it does not aspire to be realistic, and achieves a beautiful style that resembles the racing tracks of the anime show.
The stages in the dark are especially cool, and the premise of the story mode is also great because not only are you racing against a rival, you must also make sure you keep speed with the clock.
With the unlockable features, this game would keep you playing. As for the cards that you get, they are utterly useless, and it is just a pathetic novelty, but for some reason it is quite poular, so if you are into that sort of thing, you may get extra mileage from this game.
The online mode is also a great bonus, a sort of virtual arcade where you can play against other players and this game is truly competitive in that sense. Online modes and competitions do add to the games lifespan.
The soundtrack is OK, not great, just the standard fare of J-pop and electronic beat driven music. It is listenable, but I just wish if PSP games offered you the option of listening to tracks saved on your memory stick. I would love to spin Ligeti and high brow music as I wind up drunk on this virtual hairpin turn infested tracks.
Overall, if you like simulations, this may not be your idea of fun, but if you prefer the instant graification of arcade games with all the frills and none of the boring aspects of realistic handling, then this is the game you want.
Remember people, no matter how realistic a virtual car feels, it is NO substitute for the real thing anyway - so all the Gran Turismo lovers - it is STILL a computer game, which incidentally are supposed to be FUN.
initial D is a great triumph for Sega, and it is a shame that it would probably never make its way here. In the Uk, the only games to this day on the shelf are the titles that came out when the machine was launched, so the import market is the best option all round. I think this UK/US game drought is true for all consoles because the last few machines that have launched have seen minimum support here and the audience just loses faith and the consoles flop.
Anyway. Initial D. Since I never played the arcade game, I cannot comment on how good this is as an adaptation, but even if it is not, it is a heck of a lot of fun to play because the controls are good, the speed is good, and the graphics are wonderful especially for a handheld.
Now only if Sega do a PSP version of Virtua Fighter 4 Final Tuned!!
Still haven't played it!!! Too busy to play it. It sits unopened in my work desk, locked away of course. But I have a very busy life, and still have not played it. You would think having imported a Japanese game, and paid $40.00 I would have ripped it open the minute I got it, but some of us Hardcore gamers have lives, and I don't have the luxury like some of you college kids and teen-agers to just sit around and play games non-stop. So the next time your parents are yelling at you for some reason, think about that; you're living the good life now. Enjoy it while you can. Having a wife yell at you is a lot worse than parents!
A definite must-have for any PSP owner! Anyone with a PSP MUST have this game! If you haven't imported it yet, do it now! This game was definitely well worth the wait from the day it was announced so long ago! It's pretty much like owning the arcade machine! (minus the steering wheel etc.) Initial D fans WON'T be disappointed, and new players will get hooked instantly!
Got my order in 3 days from the moment the payment cleared. This place is also the cheapest place to get it too. If you're going to import this game, or any other game, get it from Play-Asia!
Thanks Play-Asia for your great service! I'll be back here as soon as I find another game to import!
Excellent choice on my part! This game simply rocks! I just got my copy on Monday of this week. I got a free Lanyard, which I don't think they mentioned in the description. I have not even played it yet, but am looking forward to it, based on all the reviews! I have played the PS2 version, and am happy to see this game being compared to it so positively.
Great Port, Prompt Shipping I've been playing for the last few hours and I must say that this game almost lives up to the actual Arcade Stage. The only problem I really is getting to the D-Pad. That one problem makes the game rather difficult for a fairly new player like myself. Aside from that, the game is too just addictive, if you like Initial D, you'll be in for a treat and hours of play :)
GREAT GAME!!! I play Initial d arcade stage v3 all the time and this version seems to be almost exactly as good as the arcade stage. The game play is highly similar to the arcade version but seems to run faster due to a smaller screen.
The lanyard that came with the game (pre-ordered?) seems to be a nice touch even though it doesn’t seem to be of the highest quality, it is still a great piece, and seemingly even better then any other I've used before due to the attachments that come on it are quite secure with two instead of one. The Tofu shop logo that is attached is a nice touch.
Although the Akina Snow course is seemingly missing, overall the courses are still there exactly like the arcade stage. Tuning takes a while, but the card system is a really nice touch (if I could read Japanese that is). The d-pad works way better then the analog but for most users needs some getting used to.
The wireless feature is something I need to test out and seems to be a great system to use with the card trading feature.
This game is definitely something that is worth buying if you are an Initial D fan and has great replay ability. It is great for practicing if you want to beat your friends at the arcade!
Perfect for any Initial D Fan From the intro sequence to the music and gameplay, this game bleeds Initial D. Menus and cut-scenes are excellent. You might not understand whats going on if your not an Initial D fan, but this is one great racer. Best PSP game so far.
Not a perfect port, but still excellent Though Street Stage is based on Arcade Stage v3, the Akina Snow course is strangely absent. On the other hand, the sound track has been roughly doubled from v3's original offering, which I didn't find all that great aside from a couple tracks. The larger selection is a welcome addition.
Tuning has been changed completely, and depending on how patient you are waiting to get more step tuning cards, you may or may not pull your hair out waiting for the 5 you will need to complete basic tuning on any car. Tuning beyond the basic 5 steps, and replacing parts from the selected tuning course's body upgrades seems to have been left out, meaning the game is overall just a tad slower than the arcade where you could keep getting minor upgrades all the way up to a million points or so.
Control with the analog stick feels way too twitchy, but the d-pad works like a charm and has 5 different sensitivity levels to chose from (using anything less than the maximum on the harder courses is certain death, mind you).
Wireless features allow you to battle another player, or trade cards, replays, and time records. Loading times are very quick, and honestly feel faster than Special Stage on the PS2. Certain night courses are VERY difficult to see when playing in a well-lit room. Overall, it's not perfect, but the minor flaws probably won't stop fans from playing the game enough to drain the PSP's battery many times over.

If you are into Initial D at all you MUST own this! This is the best import racer on the PSP right now. If you are an Initial D fan and you own a PSP and you have yet to own this game, then something is SERIOUSLY wrong with you! This game will more than likely NOT be released anywhere outside Japan and Asia, so this game is a must-import. I got my order from play-asia in 5 days with the cheapest shipping option, and I live in the east coast United States. Thank you play-asia, for great service and even better prices! I will definetly be ordering from you again!
Yes ! Wow for this game. I work at an arcade and i know arcade stage ver. 3 runs on naomi 2 which is a system made for only certain games, the psp did a good job in porting its graphics. They are not exactly the same, but what can you say for an arcade system vs. PSP. This game rocks, especially for any hard core initial d player !
INITIAL D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ordered the game and got it in three days from the day I ordered it. This game rocks,I beat it in nine hours at 42% and now I'm gonna go another round to achieve 100% I recommend this to any racer fan, Thanks playasia for good customer service
Initial D Best Import Racer Ordered Game as Huge Fan of Initial D and as well Huge fan of PSP. Shipping amazing from Play-Asia and the game is actually melting my psp from so much usage. Game is just what i expected and is amazing to have english intruction manual. Must have if you enjoy racer and especially if you enjoy seeing Tak outrace his opponents. Live the dream of Initial Drift...
Pre-order I pre-ordered this one, as well as many of the other people here. Initial D was shipped on day 2 (2-4 day shipping), and it exactly what i had paid for. I usually dont trust purchasing things online, but play-asia is a great place to get games.
Yes!!! This game rocks. If you're a fan of Initial D, you should already bought this game. It's a challenging one and a good one if compared to Ridge Racer, IMO.
Pre-orded this one I have pre-ordered this one. Very competitive pricing, and probably will not be available in the USA. Can't wait for it. Glad to see an English manual will be included. I have this on PS2, and its difficult at times to manuever throught the screens. I'll keep trying. I'll give a follow-up as soon as I've received this game and had time to play.
