Complete Collection
The term "kanzenban", used to denote a collection's completeness, is a perfect description of Umihara Kawase DS. Featuring both the original Super Famicom game as well as the PlayStation sequel, Shun, it is a perfect bundle of the series' titles.
The SFC game is practially the same as the original, down to the "5 minute rule" code, with some added options. The screen has been cropped from 256x224 to 256x192, but it hardly hurts the experience. The music has been remixed, and the playlist shuffled about a bit, but other than that it's a perfect 1:1 copy.
Shun is the repackaged "Second Edition" with a few extra levels. The game is largely identical to the PSX original, but a new "DS Route" features some more fields (very hard ones at that), while touching up a few of the existing ones. Since it runs in 3D, the game creators were nice enough to provide a "zoom" feature: you can play with the full sized picture, cropped from 320x224, or scale it down to the DS's resolution for maximum visibility range, at the expense of loss of graphic legacy.
The game also features an illustration/sound gallery, where individual pieces of artwork and music can be unlocked by performing certain tasks in the games (read: similar to achievements), as well as a Fish Encyclopedia, where you can find bios on every enemy you've defeated in Shun.
Replay functionality is fully present, and saved replays can be sent to other game cards via local wireless.
The definitive version of Umihara Kawase on a portable game system, and a great way to get your hands on a fantastic series without having to spend too much.

Perfect
This is the perfect version available for Umihara Kawase. Having 2 ports of the series. A perfect Snes port and also the PS 2nd Edition. An easy way to play the series without spending a small fortune.

Umihara Kawase Shun
Having spent well over a hundred hours on the first game, and a fair amount on the second, I think I am in a good enough position to say that Umihara Kawase DS is perhaps as good as a handheld port is likely to get. The glitches that beset the PSP version are thankfully all but gone here, and as an added bonus, there is a perfect port of the Super Famicom original to enjoy as well.
The game itself is as fascinating as ever: a simply presented platform game with oceans of depth to explore. While you may be able to finish the game fairly quickly, there are always more difficult routes through to discover, as well as more stylish ways to get through a level. The game includes a feature to swap replays locally with other DS owners, which only goes to encourage the player to play the game in the most impressive way possible.
Everyone I've known who's played these games across the years has enjoyed them, no matter what their skill level is. This is Umihara Kawase DS's greatest strength. I strongly recommend it.

Handheld addiction.
Two perfect ports of two amazing games are included in this package. If you've ever been a fan of Umihara Kawase you will be very pleased with this collection. I've had it for a month and I feel like I've barely scratched the surface. Even after I unlock everything I'll keep playing for a long long time because finding different tricks to perform with the game's superb physics engine is half the fun.

Perfect ports
Umihara Kawase Shun Second Edition Kanzenban has two perfect ports of two of most strangest and compelling game yet. Unlike Shun's PSP port this DS release is thus far completely bug free and rope physics work just as they should. In addition there is also a perfect port of the Super Famicon (SNES) game, and they've thrown in fifteen new levels with additional unlockable artwork and BG music. It takes long time to master these games and even longer to unlock every single item in the game.
Recommended for those who enjoy challenging yet overly fun game. Language barrier is low, as there isn't any plot and all text are inside menus, thou there is an explanation in boss screen, which basically tell you to survive half the time and /or get to the door in said boss stage.
