Best Ds game around I thought this was going to be a mediocre easy fighting game with rubbish graphics, but i was impressed. It is one of the best games i have played the story mode is perfect, it has enough modes and other extras to unlock which will keep you busy for a long time. As a bonus theres wifi, this game does not disapoint.
Best Bleach Game Below is my review of Bleach DS: Souten Ni Kakeru Unmei from my fanzine, Extra Life:
Extra Life is clearly becoming something of a DS
fanboys magazine, what with all of these brilliant
DS games I seem to keep picking up. Here we
have a rare beast for the handheld wonder: an
astounding fighting game. Even more surprising
is that the fighting game in question here is
based on the popular manga/anime Bleach, which
up until now has seen something but turgid
nonsense released as videogame counterparts
(see Bleach GC review, and avoid the PSP games).
Bleach DS: Souten Ni Kakeru Unmei is the fighting
game that every Bleach fan wanted. Featuring
a huge cast of characters (some of which are
surprising additions), easy to pick up gameplay,
excellent fighting mechanics and, most
importantly of all, the ability to play as
Kurosaki Ichigo and unleash his Bankai.
Of course, not everyone reading this review is
likely to know just what Bleach is, or is about,
so for a brief rundown turn to the anime and
manga reviews ahead. Suffice it to say, Bleach DS
allows you to act out the major battles of the
series for yourself, using all of the relevant
attacks seen or read about in the anime and
manga, which should come as recommendation
enough for most.
As a fighter, the game closely resembles the
likes of Guilty Gear in terms of graphical style
and battle mechanics. The majority of characters
have a weapon (often a sword) and several
attacks associated with that weapon, all of which
will be familiar to fans of the series. Battles can
include up to four combatants, and take place in
levels that usually have a background and
foreground that can be fought in with a swift tap
of ‘L’. Each fighter has a repertoire of special
moves on top of the standard kicks, slashes and
punches, and these can be executed with button
combinations or, a quick stab of the relevant
icon on the touch screen. While the latter
option may seem like something of a cop out,
you can only perform certain attacks when your
reiatsu (spirit) is high enough, so attention
needs to be aid to the top screen too. Still, one
of the greatest draws this game has is the ability
to perform these exciting attacks, so Treasure’s
decision to make them easy to pull off greatly
increases the fun factor here.
There are literally hours of fighting to be had
with Bleach DS, with a story mode, arcade
battle, time attack and survival for each
character, as well as a shop with hundreds of
items to buy, and even a fully featured versus
battle for up to four players which is
playable online as well as off, which mostly
means that you’ll be fighting super skilled
Japanese Bleach players if you play the
multiplayer, because being an import game,
there probably aren’t many people you know
who own the game. That said, this is easily
the most impressive hand held fighting game
I have played for a long time, pipping even
Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper on the GBA to
number one position. The graphics and audio on
offer are extremely close to the level of quality
set by the anime and manga, and the game is
even easy to get into despite the presence of
Japanese text. If that isn’t good enough
reason for you to import the game, I don’t
know what is!
8/10 (which although = 4 stars, I'm giving it 5 here. I;m a harsh reviewer)
cooL fighting game for DS i just started watching *bleach (hardly watch anime nowadays for being busy)and i think the show is really cool and so is this fighting game this is a must get for fighting games fan really
Bleach-experience at its highest level Great game, good and easy controles. allthou, enemies in story and arcade (normal mode) are kinda easy to beat, but i dont know how to change it right now, so i can´t say thats its a too easy game. i recomend this game
Best DS fighter I have I just ordered this game last week. I got the game wednesday. I unlocked every charachter by saturday. Once I started playing I couldn't put it down. Guilty Gear fans or Marvel vs Capcom 2 fans, this is the game that you must pickup for your DS. The battle system is simple a la Smash Brothers but the potential for complex combos is there. The in game Challenge Mode even teaches you how to perform sophisticated aerial attacks. Don't miss out on this great title from Treasure.
Wow... This is a truly amazing game. If you like Bleach you should buy this without a thought in your head. If you don't know what the hell Bleach is, buy the game anyway, you'll love it. The only problems are 1, navagating the menu, which is easily solved by Ichigo's narration, and 2, not understanding a word the people say. If you know the story it will help a small bit, but besides that it's made up stuff supporting a story for each character. Finally, on Ichigo's Story you have to meet certain requirements to get a perfect raiting, and to move through the story as fast as you can. Walkthroughs on Gamespot .com will help you there.
It was hard for me at first to pull off more complicated moves, until I realized there's an option on the bottom left touch screen that allows you to simply touch a certain lettered box to pull of cool moves.
This is definately one of the best 2D fighting games around, and if you ever see it in America, it will probably wake over a year. Why wait when you can buy this highly acclaimed game now? Being able to use character's Bankai should be the selling point for any Bleach fan alone. But it now, you won't regret it!
One of the best 2d fighters around! If you like Bleach and 2d fighting, you HAVE to get this!
Developed by Treasure, this game is full of fantastic gameplay and awesome combos.
Dont be afraid of the language barrier. Its very import friendly and with a little help from a faq, you can understand everything that matters.
gooooooooooooooood this is a fantastic game if you are fan of de anime you like a battle whit the ichigo powers and many other character.
the best game yahooooooooo
GREAT GREAT GREAT Do you like street fighter?? Do you like Bleach?? This game is made for you. You have wonderful combo wonderful power, Many Many characters which are stylish, this game is awesome.
Onward Ho I got this game a few days ago, and I have unlocked all of the characters, and at 28 it is quite a hefty roster. They did not include some of the more important characters (Like hanatarou who played a large role in the soul society arc which is focused on in the game,), yet they instead add joke characters like bonnie which sort of annoyed me. Another (minor) trifle of mine is the costumes. Instead of just switching colors, the characters that have alternate costumes should be able to change onto that, instead of just alternating a shade. And what is up with Komamura and un-masked Komamura being two different characters with the exact same moveset? He really should just have an alternate outfit.
But besides these annoyances Bleach DS is a great game for fans of the anime, and fans of the fighting genre.
I look forward to seeing improvements made upon these issues in the second game.
If you're like me and LOVES combos, then you need this game!!! I just can't believe how cool the combos (bankais) on this game are!!!! GOD!!! Theyre SO freakin' cool! You'll get addicted to this game as soon as you touch it. The fighting system also makes thing much more easy and comfortable for people who doesn't have much experience on fighting games. So, even your grandfather can play this game! XD The replay value is excellent, because you star with 14 characters to choose, and then, on the story mode, you'll unlock another 14...then you'll have a total of 28 characters to choose...that's a LOT, isn't it? And please don't worry...I can't read japanese but I can play the game perfectly. You DON'T NEED TO KNOW JAPANESE to play this game, okay?! Don't worry. So, if you want a GREAT fighting games with lots of characters to choose, a very simple control system and lot's of freakin' cool combos and special attacks for you to "watch" (yes, some of the special combos last almost 30 seconds!!! cooool!!!!!), then please make yourself a favor and GET THIS GAME NOW!!!
Simpy amazing This is a very good import for the DS. I love the series and now, I love this game. I have not had it for too long, but I have already tried the wi-fi. It was incredibly easy to connect, even though everything was in Japanese. I did not have to translate anything, I just went with what looked logically correct and...voila! I was online playing against other Bleach fans instantly.
The story mode is incredible for each character, and there are so many moves that can be done with each one. Definately worth the $50! Now, time to go play some more!
