description
The battles between the hollows and the wielders of the Shining Force were fierce eons back, however all power dissipates in the course of time, and soon the Shining Force is replaced by newer technology.
Although the wars between humans and hollows have ended, strife between countries never did. Within this chaos, treasure hunters reaped the benefits.
During an expedition in one of the Shining Force historical sites, the hero Jin unsealed the artificial life form Alfin from her sleep and gained her powers. Yet, he is not the only one, for the ambitious second prince of the empire has also awakened his own source of power.
To prevent the claws of evil sinking into the land, think strategically during battles and employ your forces wisely.

Insanely good RPG This is easily one the best RPG's on the DS. I've been a huge fan of the Shining series for as long as I can remember... and this one certainly doesn't disappoint.
This game rocks on so many levels, I could easily type a 1000 word review on it... but I'll just say this; DON'T MISS THIS GAME!! it's perfect style game play for handheld gaming.
Sega really are making quality games these days.
...and at this reduced price, probably the best game I've bought on the DS, as far as 'bang-for-buck' go's.
Doesn't reinvent the wheel as far as RPG's go - but this is a solid quality rpg, that will impress in the most jaded J-RPG fans out there.

This game is great!!!! I must say that I am stuck just playing the training battles for now but the game play is excellent. The higher lever battles do get long but that is no problem since the battles combine strategy and great animation "when an attack is engaged." The double team attacks make the game more dynamic and it helps vs high HP monsters. I am sure that there is more to this game that I haven't seen, but when I start the story line I'm sure the game will be much more fun. This game is a must get for anyone that is looking for a good RPG on the DS.

Awesome game!!!! I've never played a game in this series but I must say its a pretty awesome game. The text is Japanese heavy but I bought it for the action, not the story, so this may matter for some buyers. Action wise, the game is fun, but once the game progresses, battles can become long....like 25-30 mins long. All in all, its a good game, buy it while its on sale. A must have for any strategy-RPG player.

Shining Force finally gets an SRPG - sort of Anybody who still misses the classic grid-based games of old will still find them missing here, but it's a good middle ground between the old and the new. The game uses a gridless movement system (similar to Phantom Brave/Sakura Taisen 3) and in battle what can only be described as a Valkyrie Profile-esque system where you select attacks in real time. It sounds odd (and awkward!) but it works when you play it.
