Very helpful!
I got this game when I could read very little more than hiragana and (most) katakana. I could read no kanji, and knew the stroke orders of very few. I guess you would call me something of a beginner.
However, anytime I found a new kanji, I would look it up in a dictionary, memorize it and its readings, THEN do the tests offered by this game. I found it to be a tremendous way to organize my learning!
But the background music makes small children cry.

Brilliant learning tool !
I have been using 漢検DS and 漢検DS2 for a while. As with Nazotte, all these learning tools require that you already have acquired a certain level. Nazotte is fine from an upper intermediate level, while the others might work from an intermediate level.
Nazotte, however, has a much better learning system and my progress definitively picked up a pace :) Since I am not a native Japanese speaker, I use an electronic kanji input dictionary while studying, as I am learning vocabulary on the way.
I highly recommend investing in Nazotte - you get a lot for your money!

Excellent and Robust Kanji Software
This is an excellent piece of software for learning, reviewing, and reinforcing knowledge of kanji.
This software is intended for people who are native Japanese speakers. While non-native speakers can still use this software, the benefits to non-native speakers will be minimal until such individuals have a much firmer grasp of the Japanese language. Once that grasp is attained, the benefits will grow exponentially.
In addition to "reading practice," "writing practice," and tests based on the questions asked in those practices, there are tons of minigames in this software. The minigames can be and are difficult even for native Japanese people. However, the games can become fun once the users understand what they're supposed to do and how they're supposed to be played. Even so, getting to that point will be a challenge for non-native speakers.
This software is highly recommended for native Japanese speakers who want to review and reinforce their kanji knowledge. This software is highly recommended for non-native speakers who already have a solid grasp of the Japanese language and want to learn more.

A Good Kanji Game
This is my first kanji game, so I don't really have anything to compare it to, but so far I like this game. I wouldn't recommend it for beginners though because it is all in Japanese. The vocabulary in the example sentences can be difficult (at least for me.) The good thing is that all of the kanji in the sentence (except for the one you're studying) have furigana.
The one thing I would change about this game is that you can't go back to earlier kanji in "Today's Practice" In "Today's Practice" you are given a new kanji and you can find out it's readings and how to write it. You can do the same thing after a test, but you have to take the test first before you can get to the screen with stroke order, etc. All in all though, I like this game. It is pretty fun.

The best kanji game I have played.
This game not only teaches how to read, but also how to write kanji. Really good for practising those kanji you have forgotten or even learning new ones. You may need a Japanese-English dictionary when playing, though.
May become a bit boring if you play too long, but works in short sessions. There's also a variety of minigames to choose from.
