Hikari to Kage no Eiyuu is the sequel to the last Fire Emblem strategy RPG. It takes place a year after the first game and follows the conquests of King Marus and an unnamed hero who battled by his side - you.
Put yourself into the game by creating your own character, you are an aspiring knight who enlist into the army in hopes of aiding the hero Marus. See Marus' actions from a fresh point of view and carry out pivotal missions that decides the success of the the king's strategies.
Know the special skills of your regiments when you send them to war, some are better at ambushing, the others are better with direct confrontation or defense. A victory or an annihilation depends on your tactics.

Better remake than Shadow Dragon
Now this is how a remake should look. I love the higher difficultie settings as well as the customisable character. The Wi-fi features are also an welcome addition.

Another lost entry for western gamers
It's getting really annoying to see that Nintendo still gives the cold shoulder to Western gamers when it comes to releasing some of its own gems outside the Japanese market. This new entry (and latest at time of writing) is a worthy addition to the franchise that complements Shadow Dragon perfectly and brings the original Monshou no Nazo plot to full completion. It's just a shame that, Marth being such a notorious Fire Emblem character to Western gamers thanks to its inclusion in the two latest Smash Bros titles, this latest release in the series wasn't given a chance to shine in the hands of non-Japanese speaking audiences (thank God a fan translation is being made). If you're a Fire Emblem fan, get this game while it's still available at an affordable price.

Improvement from previous installment
If you were dissatisfied from the previous FE game (Shadow Dragon) or new to the series you should give this one a go.
This game is a major improvement from the previous game (and its original on SNES, which I played) with many improvements and added features such as Character Customization and 300+ base conversations expanding on each of 70 something characters, some who had no single line in the previous games they appeared in (if you can read Japanese...).
If you thought the difficulty 'Hard 5' ('merciless' in PAL versions) was too easy then the new 'Maniac' or 'Lunatic'* (and another hidden difficulty) will prove to be a challenge to anyone.
(* to core FE players, apparently lunatic & classic is as hard as, or even harder, than FE5 / Thracia 776)
This game is also a great introduction to new FE players as it has a detailed tutorial in the newly added 'Prologue' chapters (in Japanese, of course) and a new 'Casual' mode (where characters do not permanently die).
(But as a long-time fan, I recommend the original 'Classic' mode with permanent death to truly enjoy this game)
Above all,
- If you are a FE fan, this game will not disappoint with all the new features, improvements and gameplay elements.
- If you are new to FE, this will be a great introduction to the series with detailed tutorials.
(In my opinion, I think FE7 / FE8 are better for newcomers)

If you like Fire Emblem, you'll like this one!!!
I'm a fan of Fire Emblem games (played all since 6th to this one, that is the 12nd, i.e., this one is the 7th that I play). I'm not at all disappointed with some new features that some purists may distaste like Casual mode: if if want just fun, this is the best mode (with less suffering and more fun LOL !!!).
