Metal Slug 7 follows in the footsteps of its predecessors by continuing to deliver the high-energy and frantic, fast-paced 2-D shooting action that the franchise has always been widely renowned for.
Players will join Marco, Tarma, Eri, Fiolina, Clark and Ralph as they prepare to take on Modern's Forces across 7 new missions that will bring them from Garbage Island to the Fortress of Ruins and beyond. Aside from featuring 7 brand new and fully detailed missions and six playable characters, Metal Slug 7 will also feature a host of new weapons, colossal new bosses, new Slugs to pilot and new gameplay modes for added replay value.

Real Metal Slug
It's Metal Slug and it back so well. Addicting as all the others games.
Bad point is: The screen below doesn't serve for nothing (and it could be a curious "evolution" on the gameplay).

What can I say, it's Metal Slug. I adore the series, even the supposed 'lowlights' of later instalments, and this DS chapter gets my thumbs up. Oh, and it looks gorgeous on the DSi XL...

for the fans but also worth trying for newcomers
I've always prefered Metal Slug over Contra. It has always felt more action packed and it has little comedic touches through out the game.
If you're a fan, this is a no brainer. Single Player is awesome, the training challenges are more fun than I expected and the packaging it top notch.
If you're new to side scrolling shooters this may be worth trying. They have included a range of difficulty modes with easy being very easy (in my opinion) and you're not forced to have a steep learning curve like Contra 4.
