For those who might be worried about buying a game in Japanese, don't. There's several FAQs out there. You may not understand a lot of the unlockables, but the playability is well worth it. This game is hilarious, and progressively challenging. It's also quite fun to replay levels with different combinations of the huge cast of characters.

A Must Have for any DS collection
JUS is one of THE best games for the nintendo DS and practically makes it worth buy. I bought the game monthes ago and am still online playing which is also one of the beauties of this game: WIFI. There is no need to go to a board and get friend codes and stuff for this game, simply because you can randomly fight players in Japan regardless. This game takes all of the video game elements and system elements, perfects them and sends it right back to the buyer with a rubbery punch in the face.

Best DS game
This game is the best game I own. Even when you finish the super-long story mode, you still will have lots of stuff to unlock. There's loads of every shonen fan's favorite characters, with transformations for the main chars. Not to mention the incredible super-smash like core gameplay. It still entertains me.

Wow, I thought that I wouldn't be able to play another game like Super Smash Bros but this is downright awesome! Especially when you can get to control your favourite characters from your favourite series, this game is classic! One of the best multiplayer games I've had!

The very best Nintendo DS fighting game to date!!
I am a very big fan of the Super Smash Bros. series, so when I heard that this game was very similar I got it! I am a huge fan of the One Piece series and let me tell you that loving an anime or manga really improves the experience! So if you like Smash Bros. and any of the Mangas included in this title, you are crazy not to get it as soon as possible. One of the greatest parts is being able to create your own manga page that is used as like a battle deck during gameplay. The strategy is very expansive! The gameplay is top of the line and the graphics are great. The only problems I have encountered is slow down during online play and some characters are way too unbalanced. Other than that it is a perfect game! There is nothing like beating up your opponents with your favorite character from manga lore!

A must buy for any Shonen anime Fan!
In a word: awesome.

It's loads of fun fighting against characters from various anime. What could be more fun than beating up Ichigo as Kenshin or Killua as Naruto?

The game plays sort of like Super Smash Bros. You pick a character and start fighting on a stage where you can either ring out your opponents or deplete their health to win. There's a couple of different modes, including one where you have to collect more coins than your opponent. It works well and is really fun!

It has excellent 2D sprite graphics supported by strong background music. It'll take a while to beat the story mode and the extra missions plus online play make it a real winner! The only let down is the lack of voice acting. It would have been fun to hear Goku yell out "Kamehameha!"

If you're thinking about it, just buy it. You won't regret it!

The moment this game was released...
I bought it and had it sent to Iraq. On the few moments of my free time I played this game after mastering the first installment; then I master this one. This is perhaps one of the greatest DS games... no GAMES period. Hopefully, they will allow for a new installment on the wii similar to smash bros' success.

Great Game for anime and Fighting lovers alike
If someone put SSB onto the DS, it still won't be as good as this game, which is essentially that. complete insanity, and at the same time, completely coherent.
If you love anime, you'd love seeing your favorite charachters use all their special attacks, and if you don't love anime, the fighting is so well done and so much fun, it won't bother you.
Added online play and so many charachters available to play you'll be playing this game forever.

I'll admit I got this game a few months ago...But I still play it all the time. :3 I STILL haven't gotten everything yet! The challenges are fun and exciting! I recommend this game to everybody who loves fighting games or the Jump! manga

... is all i can describe this with. it is the greatest FIGHTER for the ds, keep in mind i said fighter. The characters and arenas are from the jump graphic novels, both japanese and american series and are each unique in most ways. The controls and menus are easy to get used to as a english or other language speaker besides the in game language used. however, the mission mode, or jump universe mode requires an online guide to know how to complete missions and extra objectives, as you need to complete them to unlock characters. the graphics are a little better than gba (but don't let that confuse you, it alot better than one) and the wifi play against reall players in laggy depending on your wireless connection and number of players fighting. there is over 40 fighters to choose from along with countless support characters that aid you! I thought i wouldn't understand it but i figured it out within a day as an english speaker and that surprised me. all you will need as a non japanese speaker is a mission guide for all the time and a menu guide to memorize and get to know when you start.

so basically:

Great for party playing and soloing
The controls area easy to learn and you get to play with allmost all of your favorite anime characters. The gameplay is somewhat similar to super smash bros, but with "normal" health system (health bar), but because you only have to see your own character it doesn't have to zoom in and out all the time and there are markers for where the enemies are, so you allways know where to go to.

The game supports single card play, but then it just randomizes your characters between, naruto, lupin(one piece), and some character I did not recognize, so my suggestion try to get your friends to get the game too ^_^

The unlocking process can be a bit of pain for us who don't read japanese, due to the 'mission' based levesl (you have te beat a the level enemies with special attacks, or support attacks, don't use block , etc) but luckily there are walktroughs written in english.

Very good play of baston to the smash bros sauce shonen. If you are fan of the shonen published in Weekly Shonen Jump, buy it !

By far the best ds game ever
I'm soo glad I got this game. It was given to me as a present last year and I never stop playing it. It's usually the only thing in my DS, for a year strong. I've unlocked all of the characters and they are amazing. Every different form of the character brings something new to the table, the online play is seamless, if you can learn how to make the perfect strip it will be awesome! It takes some time to get used to, but take time in the training mode, it will help you a lot. Every Shonen Jump character you have ever known and loved is in this, especially if you are a Japan oriented anime fan. I'm not saying that the American known characters are better ( You know, Ichigo, Goku, Kenshin, etc.) But some of the characters from the animes that are only out in Japan can do a lot of damage too, don't underestimate anybody! This game is seriously addicting and easy to get used to. If you're not Japanese savvy ( Since there is a LOT of text) Just check your local game guide websites for some translated strategy guides. Have fun and enjoy!

Also, a word to the wise: For those who think that there's a best character, there isn't, once you think you have the best character you will quickly find somebody who's a counter to your 'best'. Believe me, it makes it soo much more fun.

i wouldnt say good or awesome, but awesomester, ive had it for a while, its a MUST have for all fans of manga/anime, great characters, interactive stages, even if it is in jap, its easy to understand except quiz mode, but u dont need that, characters are upgraed to the highest ever ranks and it even has wifi, as i said before, MUST have

i do not know where to begin...
i mean, one of my decks has kenshin & goku another has yoh & vegeta, and and other has train & ichigo. yes frame rate chokes when players are on top of one another blasting super moves, BUT that's the only and relatively insignificant flaw.

people talk about interactive maps, wi-fi compatibility, or simply the very fact that it has all-time favorite manga characters in one.

but, the thing that surprised me the most was that being a ds game, containing all the other features, the move set of each character varies in a wide range.

at first, i expected all the characters being basically the same, except different art.

however, that was not the case at all! (i mean, except for dragon ball z, but they are all saiyans!! and they have different flashy moves neway)

kenshin has his ultimate move as described in manga yoh has amidamaru as his oversoul and does kick-ass moves, and goku's after-image kamehameha in
super-saiyan 3 looks freakin' impressive.

with, virtually, endless things (characters, etc) to unlock, it's gonna keep you interested with the single-player mode alone.

and then there was WI-FI. dum-dum-dum-dum. there's no ending the fun now with wi-fi.

well, i just got it 2 days ago, and i have to get back.

This. Game. Is. Awesome!
This is the only Japanese DS game that you MUST have.
NO don't tell me you don't have enough money or you can't read japanese.

A manga fan's dream
What other game out there allows you to have Kenshiro and Jotaro beat the mess out of Goku and Naruto? A truly wonderful experience. The completionist will spend many hours trying to unlock every koma there is (I've been playing since it came out and still haven't got 100%), the casual gamer will find it easy to pick up like Smash Bros, and the manga fan will be overcome with joy. The only problem I have with it is that series like Dragonball Z get a ton of battle characters while series like Hokuto no Ken, Rurouni Kenshin and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure get 2 at most, but it's not like that wasn't an understandable move. This is still an absolutely amazing game, and even more fun with other people.

believe me this lil game is the best I have out of everyother game I've got currently I can't read it very well but nonetheless if you want it don't hesitate just order it. way worth it ^^

This is the only true game where all come together. I believe that this game should be upgraded to the Wii system. It deserves a worldwide release. This Game has got to be one of the greatest ever made for the NINTENDO DS. It is the manga version of SUPER SMASH BROS. This is a must buy. If you have already played JUMP SUPER STARS, then know that JUMP ULTIMATE STARS is atleast twice as good if not better!!!

This game is a must have for anyone with a DS. Its story is better than the last one and so is the character upgrade system.

This game is amazing-simple fighting system, great controls, huge list of collectable characters and a whole lot of fun. The character evolution is as good as the serif koma system from the previous game. The only flaw with this game is the length of the story. There are only about 100 levels, with 5 goals each. In the previous one, there were easily a lot more than that, each with 5 goals again. The muliplayer system is brilliant, although i have only 1 friend who has the game. I'd advise that before you get this, go for jump super stars, then when you have finished it, go for this, as it is well worth it. Im still collecting characters, so it is a very long game when trying to get everything. Get it.

Incredibly Awesom
Every anime fan asks those questions every once awhile, or at some point, "What would happen if Naruto fought Goku?" or something like that. That's what's so cool about this game, 40 different series with over 300 characters from them that you can pick and beat the crap out of each other with them! And EVEN cooler than that is the fact that you can evolve which ever characters you want and make them even more powerful. Basically, like said already, it's like Super Smash Bros., but with manga characters and (To me) better attacking moves.

On the note of whether or not to buy it, definately. If you import any game ever for any system, make it this one. And with UPS shipping it got to my house in 4 days (Arrived today :D ) and I live right in the middle of the US, so if you live alittle further east you might get it even sooner,

Best DS Fighter Game Ever
Seriously.

I swear, this is y favorite DS game. With more than 30 fighters, and 700 help, support, and battle characters in total, why wouldn't anyone like this game? The Japanese is kind of confusing at first, but within the first day, at some time, you will memorize most of the menus and stuff like that. The missions are the only thing that are kind of hard to understand, but if you just look and see if there are any numbers in the description, or if there are any KO's scattered throughout, I guarentee that you will love and understand this game. BUY IT NOW!

Worth the money, and the wait
Jump Ultimate Stars took 9 days to get to my house since it shipped, but it was worth waiting and worth the money.

This is easily one of the best games I have ever gotten in my entire life. Bascially, think Super Smash Bros. with your favorite anime characters.

Even though it's in Japanese, I found it fairly easy to understand what was going on. I don't know a word of Japanese, but it took me about 10 minutes to get used to it with the help of a guide

But if you're planing on ordering this, I highly recommend getting better shipping than the worst one. Even though it was worth the wait, it wasn't pleasant waiting for it.

This is the perfect game for the DS if only most games were like this I like that In the first one naruto was a kid and in these one his a teen but I just wish that more naruto teen characters were in here like Neji Hyuga and Hinata Hyuga and the other members of Akusuki(Dieidara and Sasori out of his puppet) I also wish that Tsunade,Jiraiya and Orochimaru also 1st and 2nd hokage as battle character

It's hard to imagine many people being disappointed with this game. As a beat-em-up game in the style of Smash Bros, except with loads of anime characters rather than Nintendo ones - this game will not only meet your expectations, but likely exceed them. There's just so much to the game!

Word of warning though: it's not the easiest game for those (like myself) who don't know Japanese. Luckily, there's a comprehensive walkthrough/guide on www.gamefaqs.com which makes it all very manageable.

Could be THE greatest DS game yet
The amount of customization in this game is simply stunning. There's countless different deck combinations which you can modify to your liking. The gameplay is fast paced and simply a joy. I can't stress enough how incredible of a fighting game this is.

As far as the in game text, if you don't know Japanese you can easily find on-line translations. It is a bit cumbersome to have to play the game while consulting my laptop to see mission specifications, but to get anywhere in this game you will need to know what you have to do.

Wi-fi support is great with barely any lag. The option of saving online opponent decks for your own use is just another added piece of wonderfullness.

If you import, if you're thinking about importing, if you have no intent of starting to import games BUY THIS GAME!

THIS WILL BE THE BEST DS GAME EVER!
I have heard much about this game and all that i have heard has made it sound better and better. I am going to get this game VERY soon and when i do i will just lay on my bed for about 5 hours and just play non-stop. Great game
It takes a bit of getting use to since it is in Japanese but there are plenty of online walkthroughs for it and eventually you will figure out stuff on your own. Online is fun but so far hard for me haha, japanese people are good.

my first import game here. At the beginning i thought it was gonna take me forever to figure out what each menu would do and the game play was going the same for a while. But once you start to unlock the characters and see the combos everything just changed, it go to the point that i was making tons of decks to see how each character would be with one another. their super moves are awesome too. each one can be upgraded. Your opponents know what they are doing. depending on how fast u do on each mission u can unlock what is needed.

i had a website just help me with the menu, after a while playing, you will know what each option on the screen is. I'll tell ya its the best game i ever played on the Nintendo DS. now i just have to hide it from my little brother or i wont be playing for a while... get the game if you think you want to play something for a long time.

I really like this game and the all the modes that within it. One of the coolest features to me are the huge selection of anime characters. It has a single-cart DS download that is awesome, but it also really limits the amount of gameplay done. I suggest to bring this game out 100%, have a friend to get it to play it with.

Incredible game!
This is my first import game, I know nothing about Manga or a word of Japanese but this is easily the best game on the DS. With a little work using a guide, you can figure this out no problem. I'm understanding more and more about it and the range of characters and moves is immense!

It's an essential title and is light years ahead of anything out here in the UK. Wi-Fi works great here too, some lag sometimes but not always. Just buy it and see. Treat yourself, you deserve it!

I was surprised when I first bought this... Fighting games rarely work on the DS, yet this game did! I love the sheer range of Battle Characters (Kenshin is my favourite)
I highly suggest this game... WiFi is the icing on the cake, and it's not actually that hard to play without knowledge of Japanese!

(One would almost assume that Ganbaron created it specifically to make it easy for non-Japanese gamers to play it...)

This is even better than Smash Bros! I can't understand a word they say, yet I beat the whole thing! Wifi is awesome and the game is the best game ever for tons of reasons, but mostly because it features Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo characters! Get this game NOW. If you don't, you will be missing out on an amazing experience. And even though i'm not very familiar with most of the anime on it, I still LOVE this game. This game has so much things to do. I mean the story mode isn't very intresting but the game play is so fun and this game never gets old. There are so many characters and combonations you are able to pull off and master, you can spend a lot of time on this game if you have wi-fi.
That said, if I were you, only get this game is you have wi fi.

Best Import Game of the Moment
Called the "Anime" and "DS" version of Super Smash Bros., JUS is a hit. It has a high replayable value and you'll never get bored from it. WiFi is a great addition to the game, as most people you play with are friendly, but competitive. Graphics are great, for a game that holds over 400+ sprites, but they might seem like they're from a newly released GBA game.

My only (obvious complaint) is the language barrier it holds. Noneless, once you get used to the menus and decipher the mission objectives, you'll have to trouble playing it.

If you need a game to entertain you for a long time, and/or you have Wireless access, and you love anime, without reserve, buy this game.

Jump Ultimate Stars is an extremely good game. It is possible to customize your abilities and playable characters to a much greater extent than any other fighting game. You basically arrange manga panels on a grid to make a "deck" of sorts. Each panel has a different effect which can be used until the "special bars" are fully depleted.
My only issue with the game is that the characters move noticeably slower than in the prequel... However, the "dash" ability makes up for it greatly.

Basically, either get it or not. If you do, you'll have a great game on your hands and if you don't, there will be one more copy of the game for me!

There's no doubt: this game is absolutely great! With plenty of characters, it will be a delight for everyone! Of course, for non-Japanese people, the language will be a relevant barrier, that won't allow to appreciate completely the product. But if you make a little effort, wou will find many walktroughs and faqs on the net.. that won't solve the problem, but, at least, you could understand what you have to do...

Pure beat-em up action
This is one of the best games I have played on the DS. It is easy to understand the game play and Koma system after about 30 minutes of playing. I recommend this game to any manga fans. Also Play-Asia's service was great, my game made it to my mail box in the US in just 8 days!

Japanese anime goodness
yup all the super powered god modding characters from shonen jump anime are finally yours to control, sure it may become a little dull when you do unlock everything(good luck!) but with wifi support in this game allows you to test your skills against other players whether they be in japan or anywhere else this game has been imported.
In short this game is good I recommend it to anime junkies and 2D fighting game fans.

When I first picked up JUS, I had alot of fun with it. Later, I kinda lost interest in it. You begin with very few characters and get more as you go along, but the komi system is pretty aggravating, and eventually, the goals get impossible to complete without knowing what all your komi do, when to use them, and what your goals actually are. Good, but hard to recommend to someone who knows little or no Japanese.

Without doubt, the best game for DS
The reason I bought this game was primary to play as Himura Kenshin - but I have to admit, I was (and still am) completely overwhelmed with the character roster. Each character (that's over 300) plays differently to each other. Forget New Super Mario Brothers, this is the game that matters. The touch screen use is one the best I've seen so far - you build your team into the bottom screen of the DS, you have your main players, and your backups that you can press in battle, who will then jump straight into the action. The only game I've played that I can say is similar to this (and that's saying it loosely) is Powerstone. The action is absolutely frantic, plus you'll be surprised just how deep the gameplay is on this. Once Jump Ultimate Stars has hooked you in, there's no letting go.

This is definetly my favorite DS game right now and probably always will be. The gameplay is a lot like Super Smash Bros and it is very addicting, the character evolution system is sweet too, you can upgrade your characters to make them stronger or a different type. If anyone is thinking about getting this game but thinks it would be too hard because of the Japanese I assure you you will get used to it and will be navigating the menus like they were english in no time, plus there are many FAQs that can help you get through the game.

A Game You Will Keep Coming Back To....
As said in other reviews, this game is like Super Smash Brothers with manga characters. Yes there is a decent deal of Japanese but even if you don't read Japanese do not fear, there are great guides on-line to help you out. Once you learn what to do...this game becomes an addiction. It hasn't left my DS for very long before I come back to it for yet another round of "Beat 'em Up".

Surely the best Nintendo DS game ever. Has everything you'd expect from a good fighting game and LOTS of characters so you can battle with your favourite chars from your favourite manga series. Only wish they had more playable characters for rurouni kenshin like saito hajime or sanosuke sagara...still the loveliest game ever, though it takes some time to figure out what you're supposed to do in story mode :D

Yup, it's everything people say it is -- it's like having a SSBM-type game on the DS. The customization and menu options are massive, and there's no game like this in the States. As to Play-Asia's performance, they did mighty fine as well. I received my copy within the time they said it would arrive, and was up & running in no time.

this game is great, even if you're not into anime this is a very fun game, it's easy to get the hang of it and you can play for hours and not get bored at all.
the only complaint i have is with fedex they took 3 more days than what they told me and i ended up having to go pick it up at the station and theyeven charged me 20 dlls for some type of tax.
oh well, thats the last time i use fedex, but the game was worth it.

Alright, I ordered this game with absolutely NO skills in japanese text. I'll be honest, at first I was completely clueless, even to the point of being frustrated but after taking a look and gamefaqs and getting familiar with the menus, this game is utterly awesome. I was playing it for 2 hours straight just now. And I diidnt even realize how much time had passed, i even got yelled at for not doing the dishes but this was worth it. =]

A must import for anime/manga fans, since it has an EXTREMELY low chance of being released in america.

Great but with some flaws IMO
this game is pretty good definitely better than the first but with some flaws as well.. i love how they changed the "panel-matching" system to the "evolving system" which is less tedious to unlock all the characters. but one thing i noticed is that the character control isn't as fast and responsive as the first, seems the char's lag a little bit between the attacks.. the online play is a nice addition, but i've experienced a massive lag game when it was only 3 players, but when after i played a 1 vs. 1 it wasn't an issue. so overall if you liked the first, the second is definitely a must. nice new systems and lots of new playable characters!

I just got it last Friday and let me just say that I haven't been able to tear myself away from it. I have charged my DS twice in two days. I just got my copy from Play-Asia, and i must say that this game is the greatest anime game of all time. The game is just perfect...

It's just fantastic to play as Luffy Gear 3rd, Naruto 3 Tails Kyuubi, Sasuke Nextgen, or Seiya his gold armour. The gameplay is even better than the first, with lots of improvments with the deck and in the ingame gameplay.
