Great Game
I am a big fan of Dragon Quest series. Dragon Quest IV is a great game: good story, multiple playable character, nostalgic music, smooth animation and overall a great remake. If you a fan of DQ series, don't hesitate: buy it now!

Great RPG!
Dragon Quest IV is a great JRPG. If you like classic RPG
this is the one! The game very easy to get on and have decent graphic for Nintendo DS.

Typical Dragon Quest fare.
Despite lacking a great story and being a little easy, it was very fun to play for the 50 or so hours.

Number 1 in the Heavenly Series
Fun RPG game with lovable characters brought to the DS. You can't go wrong with this game.

DQ? Buy it.
Yes. You can buy any of the Dragon Quests - it's always the highest class game. DQIV is even better - it is a remake! Story, characters, music - you can enjoy them forever.

Great RPG
I am in chapter 4 so far, and this game is great.
Story:
Ok, it's not final fantasy, but the story of dragon quest is still interesting. The game is much more light hearted than other rpgs, and the story is always showing new situations that keep you going forward. The characters are likeable enough, and people in towns always have something interesting to say.
Gameplay:
The gameplay is classic japanese menu driven RPG, although I find it a bit more difficult than normal (but it's far from impossible, and you can always grind). Basically, you do dungeon crawnling, visit towns, buy stuff, kill monsters etc. Battles don't last too long, making it enjoyable.
Music:
The music is great. The only problem I have with the music is that it resets after each battle. This means that if you don't wait for the music to play you will only hear the first 30 seconds, which is a shame, because the music in general is great.
Presentation:
The graphics are 2d (although you can rotate the camera, making it look like as if it is 3d). The animation is smooth, the characters, monsters and environments are well drawn. It's nowhere as good as Dragon Quest IX, but still it's great for a remake.
Overall:
I'm a huge fan of Final Fantasy, and this is the first Dragon Quest I ever played. So far it's been great, and I certainly plan to continue playing until I reach DQ9. If you want to play a good old-fashioned jrpg, look nowhere else.

That's what I call classic good
If you have played Nintendo or PS version, there is no need to say a thing. If you liked the game, yeah, just go for it!

Finished it!
Finaly I managed to finish it, and it´s a great little story.
It has it´s grinding moments, but also delivers a lot of satisfaction into getting to the end.
I also liked to build my own little city and see it grow.

A great classic
Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the chosen embodies the definitions of the Dragon Quest series, delivering a tale that all role playing fans will cherish and enjoy.
Cleverly presented in chapters, which are basically snippets of stories introducing each of the 8 main characters, DQ IV tells the tale of a hero destined to relinquish the evil that dooms the world.
For those looking for a good role playing experience, this game should last for 30-40 hours, with an additional chapter not found in the SNES original.
Great music and cheerful looking sprites complete the excellent package. Role playing fans, or owners of DS looking for a good rpg- DQ IV is an easy pick up.

A great story divided in chapters!!
Well, this is not my firts Dragon Quest but this one is excellent!!
The story and the characters are a bit richer than usual due to the separation of the game in chapter. You can then enjoy the story of all the charcters and get involved easily in the story.
The great strenght of this episode is Psaro, a superb villain I really loved. His story is quite interesting.
In addition to that, graphics are superb for a DS, the music is excellent too and you will get for 30 - 35 hours of fabulous gameplay.
Definitely a must have for all the RPG fans.

Great, nostalgic game!
This is a great RPG. The graphics scream nostalgy, and at the same time, they look modern on 3d. The art style from Toriyama is just great, and of course, who can forget the cute Slime! Gameplay is simple and very easy in the beggining, but it gets harder, and you hare your share of grinding here too. It´s just great to be able to play this RPG (I never got my hands on the NES or PS1 versions, and I don´t speak Japanese) and follow this story. Awesome game!

A great choice for RPG fans.
I loved this game this is one of the best examples of old school RPGs around.
The flexible party system allows you to play with a variety of different strategies.
The presentation and different introduction for the different characters really makes this game feel epic in proportion.
This game will really make you hunger for translations of the other dragon quest games to be released.

Already perfect before, made better now!
I have loved this game since I played the NES version years ago. It is even the favorite Dragon Quest for a lot of people, and it is easy to see why. The character development and the way the story is presented is very original (at least at the time the game was first released).
The version for the Nintendo DS features reworked towns and dungeons, which now can be seen in both screens at the same time, animated monsters and icons showing items and character profiles (all in all, it makes very good use of the dual screen).
The game lets you do a "quick save" anywhere (even in dungeons). This is helpful when you have to turn your game off suddenly. I am not sure if this gets deleted after you load it or not (have to confirm if it stays available for later loads).
It also has the changes introduced by the PlayStation remake, so there are many things in this game not present in the original.
Highly recommended to buy this game, or wait for the translation, but don't leave it out of your Nintendo DS game library.

Excellent
Square-Enix did a great job remaking Dragon Quest 4. It brings back a lot of memories from playing the game oh so many years ago. If you played this a lot on the NES then you shouldn't have much trouble with little or no Japanese ability - nearly everything will be in familiar places. Some improvements on the original title include a bag to put excess items in (like DQ7 had) and some new special abilities for Taloon/Toruneko, and I've heard theres a player built city (I'm just finishing chapter 4 now). It's a great remake of the original.

One of the best.
Dragon Quest IV was already at the top of the RPG list, but this remake pushed it ever higher.
The graphics may not be what today's (american) gamers want, but they suit the game perfectly, and no more is needed when the battle system and story are already perfect.
Import this game and see what a classic is about.
