Under the twin moons and the rule of the great empire, people have been leading peaceful lives albeit unsettling legends about a sleeping princess, dream eating monsters and the falling moons continue to pass around.
No matter how unsettling, people have been seeing these legends as mere stories to scare children, until the day a mysterious plague started spreading and the culprit of the illness seems to be the dream eating monsters. Under the onslaught of these evil forces, a special substance in people's hearts, spiria gets contaminated.
The only thing to counter the monsters is Soma, hidden within the Spire Maze.
All these strives of the land are unknown to the hero, Shing until he rescues a mysterious girl Kohaku from the monsters. Together, the two set off to find the mysterious substance Soma, save the land and find out the truth about the legends.
Nice addition to Tales series Story is typical of Tales series: saving the world, ancient technology, etc. There is also a 'face chat' function, where the characters carry out funny conversation. Sometimes, it will also give you hint on your next destination.
Battle system is fun. You can control your character to dash, walk, jump, etc. You can string several special attacks for some impressive combos. And the final attack animation is really amazing (ignoring the zigzag in the characters' sprites). You can use the touch screen to set additional attacks or call for support from other characters.
Highly recommended for people who love RPG.

Amazing game a top NDS JRPG Game Tales of hearts is the one of the best of series, and one of the best games on the NDS System, the battle system is simple amazing, the characters, plus almost every scene in the game is voiced, and the cut scenes are amazing. The game play is so well done, the use of the touch screen in battle, is a great adition. a must have for every tales series fan and for every RPG fan or NDS owner.

Brilliant RPG I came into this game expecting "Oh, just another Tales of" title, however was extremely surprised. Having completely not enjoyed the recent Tales of title for the Wii, the DS game, Tales of Hearts reignited my faith in the series. Similar to Tales of Eternia, in the portable sense on the PSP version, this title is just pure RPG gaming bliss.
Combined with a great story, excellent soundtrack, extremely brilliant and fun battle system, to even excellent visuals including animation, this RPG for the DS comes highly recommended from me.
So what are you waiting for? Knowledge of Japanese or not, checkout this product, and you'll be in for an excellent RPG experience on the DS!

One of the Best This game is really awesome for DS and definitely one of the best among any other DS JRPG. Other than great/enjoyable storyline and gameplay, I would say that Tales of Hearts offers likable heroes and heroines plus amazing, and i would consider the best voice actor team in tales series ever.

Amazing! This game is awesome and very well put together. Its a great game for fans of the tales series and for newcomers alike. Although the game is in japanese and I dont understand it I found it very easy to find a strategy guide to help me understand the plot of the game. The characters are easily likable and the story is great. Also the cut-scenes and animations are beautiful. This game is loads of fun and I highly recommend it.

Surprisingly good! I was a little sceptical at first whether this game would be playable for non-native speakers or not but I have to say I'm pleasently surprised! The game offers A LOT of gameplay value for your money, even if you don't speak japanese very well. The graphics are great, the combat system is well balanced and the overall storyline is quite the intriguing one ;) Although I only understand about roughly 10% of the game's dialogue, many things can be "guessed" by the reactions of NPCs or other "RPG typical things". All in all a great RPG to add to your DS library!

A great game! I haven't played a good RPG for a while, and this one is so amazing, you won't believe it is just a NDS game!

Great game This is a fantastic game. It has a lot of japanese text but that doesn't hinder the enjoyment. There's lots to explore and the 2-d combat system is very user friendly. Plus the cut-scenes look wonderful. highly recommended.

A Very Wonderful Tales Tales of Hearts goes back to the roots of the Tales Series by having the battle system on a 2D plane style of fighting, but just as deep as its 3D counterparts, with rapid action and special effects galore.
The story is very heart-warming n loving, as it explores about the different emotions a person can portray.
The in-game graphics are gorgeous for a DS title, and the music is excellently done by Motoi Sakuraba. This also being the first in the series to use 3D for its cinematics, makes it a wonderful blend of all things great that makes it a must-own Tales.

Great DS RPG Being a Tales fan, I was overjoyed to learn that the price for Tales of Hearts had gone down. I may not understand much of it, but it is definitely a keeper!
Not only are the visuals beautiful to look at, but the story and the battle system are both engaging and fun. Especially the battle system! It has always been one of the many great aspects of the series, and that continues here.
Did I mention that a majority of the game is voice acted? Amazing game on the Nintendo DS!
