Daigasso! Band Brothers gives you the chance to rock out on your Nintendo DS.
To make sweet music, all you have to do is grab the stylus, choose your favorite instrument and a song and cue the scrolling dots on the touch screen with perfect timing.
If your solo career isn't flying, you can always join a band. An unlimited number of people can link up for a massive jam session, as long as all players are in wireless range and have their own game cards.
Plus, up to eight people can jam together over a wireless connection with just one game card. If you aren't in the mood to play one of the included songs, you can create original compositions just by humming into the microphone.
simple and classic great game. being an expert gamer, i still admit to it getting a little difficult. the songs are great but the presentation alone keeps it from getting five stars. buy it. addicting.

Awesome rhythm game A great pick-up-and-go game, I started playing it on the bus as soon as it arrived. You can play many variants of a song by playing the different instruments, and there is also an interesting 'survival mode' you can test your skills with.
However, the midi quality of the songs is a bit of a turnoff... though the gameplay largely makes up for it. And don't forgot 8 player wireless!

BEST GAME EVER!! I'm so hooked! This game is one of the reasons I bought a DS Lite. It's true it may not have the best visuals like the Bemani games, but what it lacks in that department makes up for the overall gameplay. (It also helps that it has some of my favorite J-pop songs in the game) Also, for all you instrument players, if you have a favorite piece of sheet music, you can input songs in the editor and then play them as you would any of the featured songs in the game. BUY it! It's worth it.

Still a great bemani game I am a big fan of bemani games, so i got DJ MAX for PSP (great game, if you have one, buy it). I was really happy to see that there was a bemani game for DS where you could write your own songs. It was one of the reasons i even got a DS. When i got it i started playing it directly. It really is a fun game. I have played it for some time now, and haven´t gotten tired of it.
The best part is multiplayer. Up to eight players can play your creations with one game card. Of course you already know that. The only bad thing about the game is that you can´t change the time signature of your songs. It´s a small flaw for a great game. If you haven´t got it already, buy it.

It's really good!! This is a really fun game!! I would liken the game to Beatmania, in that you have to press certain buttons at certain times, but in this case, you're actually playing the instruments featured in the songs.
The songs are great, and deserve to have an English version. But, for the time being, this is a fantastic start. The game-centric songs are easily one of the best to play through :)

Fun but could be so much better Bad:
- mostly bad music
- almost unbearable instruments sounds (think old midi crap on the PC 15 years ago)
- no high scores or stats
- poor visuals during game
Good:
- challenging
- fun

A must-have! There isn't much I can add that hasn't been mentioned already.
This is a must have gave though. This game is full of kanji and it doesn't offer any furigana to help you read the kana. However, if you only know basic Japanese (high school level) like I do, the game isn't too difficult to figure out. It's a great way to build on your vocabulary!

SWEET!! A "must be played game" for DS owners! Don´t doubt buying this one!!

Rockin' with Band Brothers! After countless hours spent playing, Band Brothers has become one of my favorite games... and definitely one of the coolest music games I have ever had the opportunity to immerse myself in. The premise of the game starts out simple... The game throws notes at you in a fashion similar to Beatmania, except with Band Brothers it is more like reading sheet music once you progress further into the game (I'll explain later). The game starts off in beginner mode in which all the notes that come at you are either red or blue. The red notes indicate that you must hit any face button to play that note and with the blue notes you can hit any directional button to play them. All the notes in the game have a "head" and ones that you must hold out for more than one beat have a "tail". If you fail to hit the "head" of the note you can still get the "tail" if you are fast enough (that is if that particular note has a tail).
There are a few modes in Band Brothers that you need to know about (one in particular I have yet to try out)...
Single Player: In single player there are two different modes, one called 1 Hour and one called Special Event. 1 Hour is unlocked from the get go, but Special Event is not. So, lets start off with 1 Hour... In this mode you have 35 songs to choose from that each have at least four or more different instrument parts to choose from (some of the 35 songs--or certain instruments in said songs are not unlocked when you start out). When you decide on a song and an instrument you are taken to a screen that says Stand-by OK? from which you can either practice or play in order to get graded. The practice mode comes in very handy later in the game, but in the beginning it is easier to get your practice in by getting graded on your performance. Once you get through a few songs (sorry I can't remember the exact number) you unlock Special Event. In Special Event you are given three random songs and you have a bomb with an ignited wick at the top of the screen that starts out at 100% and goes down every time you mess up. If you mess up too much the bomb will explode and it will be game over. If you get through the songs you will unlock the next Special Event (all of which are each called Recording Tickets). Each level of the Recording Tickets become harder as you progress. After you beat all the Recording Tickets in beginner mode you unlock Amateur mode.
One thing I almost forgot to mention is that there are some notes in songs that are out of your league and that is where the touch screen comes into play (this only applies to beginner and amateur modes). There is no easy way to hold the stylus and hit face buttons and the d-pad (believe me, I've tried), so you might as well just give up and get your touch screen dirty by using your thumb;) It makes it fun because most of the time you need to be careful of which thumb you hit the touch screen with because if it is the wrong one you may end up missing the next note because you needed that thumb you just used to hit the according button.
Okay, onto Amateur mode... The single player works essentially the same as in beginner mode with the exception of you can't just hit any button anymore to play the notes in the songs... Each note has an assigned button (up, down, left, right, A, B, X, Y). So, the songs you just blew through in beginner mode aren't going to be as easy this time. With persistance you will pass enough Recording Tickets to unlock Pro Mode in which the L and R buttons are added to make notes flat or sharp (thus if you have to hit A and it is sharp, you must hit A and L at the same time) and all the songs are sped up (which makes it even more difficult). Drum parts get a lot trickier at this point as well with having to hit multiple buttons at the same time. I haven't beat Pro mode yet, so I don't know what happens after you beat it.
Score Maker Pro: This is the mode in which you actually write your own songs and can play them in other modes of the game. You don't unlock this until you unlock Pro Mode. It definitely helps if you know how to read sheet music to reach the full potential of this mode. I haven't messed with it all that much yet, but it is definitely going to be fun to put essentially any song you want in the game.
Band Play: This is the multiplayer mode in which you can have up to eight players with one game card. I don't know too many people that have a DS, so I haven't had the opportunity to try out this mode yet... but from what I have read online it is pretty damn good. There is a guy I work with that has a DS and one day we are gonna try it out two player and when we do I'll be sure to fill you guys in.
Closing Comments: If you enjoy music games and you own a DS there is no reason you should not buy this game... especially since in a few weeks there is an additional song pack coming out in the form of a GBA cartridge that adds 31 more songs. I have preordered my additional song cart and can't wait to see what all it has on it. The 35 songs on the regular game are quite enjoyable... everywhere from J-Pop, Anime, Classical, and good old Nintendo tunes (such as Mario Remix, F-Zero, Zelda, and Kirby).

Best DS-game I扉e played so far! I like music-games - that´s why I love Daigasso! For the first time in the history of videogames you don´t just have to replay the songs of a music-game. You have to play the songs on your own.
Especially the multiplayer mode is one of the best I know. 1 Cartridge - infinite fun.
Something that shouldn´t be forgotten is the great tracklist. The Nintendo-medleys for example are so long, that they could have cut them in the middle, to make 2 songs out of 1 in order to make the tracklist bigger. But Nintendo didn´t. So you have over 30, for a music game unusually long, songs in brilliant quality. I don´t mean the midi-format is brilliant but the notes you have to play fit perfect to the music.
I wonder if this game will ever be released in US/europe, because a lot of the charme of the game comes from its J-Pop songs which would be replaced by "western" songs. If you ask me, I want to play "fragile" from Every Little Thing and not "Hit me baby one more time" from Britney.
Buy the game! It rocks!

crazy cheesey fun! anyone with a long and deep-rooted gaming heritage will remember the old soundblaster/adlib soundcard midi days! back when there were 127 basic sounds that were all being produced from an FM synthesis chip - daigasso uses this kind of sound setset for its songs, and to be honest, it sounds fantastic! some find the midi-style sounds to be horrible, but it's all part of the charm of the game. to put actual samples and implement a full sample-set and sampler for every track would have taken up an enormous amount of data, so it's understandable why the developers have gone for this option. one of the rare exceptions is the drum sound-set which has fairly decent kick, snare, hi-hat, toms and crash samples, as-well as some classic electronic samples for the more j-pop oriented tracks.
as some on the ntsc-uk forums have said, daigasso turns your DS into an instrument! the more you practice, the more familiar you are with the controls and the songs, the more fun it will be. this is particularly true of the harder modes when you get the sharp and octave modifiers (left and right shoulder buttons) - it becomes very difficult!
one of the best features though is the single-cart multiplayer mode. one DS player selects the song, and the others download it - the funny thing is that unlike a game like donkey konga, if someone drops their part, having off timing or missing alltogether, it reflects in the overall sound... so if your drummer stops, you'll have no drums! it's hillarious - and when one person messes up, it can keep snowballing untill everyone's lost it! the most players i've had in a multi-game is three, but i'd love to have a full 8... i just don't know that many people with DSes!!!
as with Electroplanktion, this isn't the average game, but this makes it all the more suited to the DS, which isn't the average platform. a truly different and outstanding game, well implemented, and a whole lot of fun!

The best DS Game I've had this game since its launch in Japan - and I'm still playing it. Without a doubt - the best DS game available. Amazing!

First That's saying something. I wanted this game so bad, I just couldn't wait for a North American release. I'm actually really glad I ordered it. The song selection is great: very varied! I especially love the medley's (which is most of them). Actually . . . I liked all the songs. I even made Donkey Kong Jungle Beat songs that I got from the Nintendo web site. It's really a great game. It took 11 business days to come to Canada, and I am now awaiting 11 business days for my copy of Electroplankton!

Very impressive This game is by far one of the coolest handheld games I have ever played. The single and multiplayer are both excellent, and it is totally worth the import. A MUST buy for any DS owner, whether you know music or not.

Awesome This game was really worth the money I paid for it. The japenese doesn't really make it hard to navigate because there is some english in it. The only thing about the japenese part that kinda is hard to do it the score maker pro where you compose songs because I don't know Japenese. The multiplayer is sweet and I love this game. Highly recommended.

The best... This is without any doubt in my mind:
The best Bemani style game idea ever.
The best multiplayer game on DS.
One of the top 10 multiplayer games ever.
Get some friends and play this... its truly rewarding and absolute joyous fun. If the US version has different songs I may buy that as well...its that good.

Excellent game This game is lots of fun. In multiplayer, LOTS of laughs are added, and even in Single Player, LOADS of stuff to do. Good learning curve, easy enough at first, yet hard enough as the game progresses to give you a great challenge.
Also, as was previously stated, you unlock the Pro Editor upon Amateur Mode completion, which allows you to write anything song you might fancy, with a limit of 8 instruments.
HIGHLY recommended game, the only language barrier being the instrument names, which you can try and hear before starting a song anyway...
burlingtonbill(1) on 20, Jan. 2005 08:55 (HKT)
This game rawkss?! Everyone who owns a Nintendo DS should buy this game! The multiplayer in this game is so much fun and everyone needs this beast. With 8 people on one game card it makes things even better!
There are a buttload of unlockables and in the Pro Editor mode you can actualy recreate songs using sheet music :O
Also this game is totaly easy to understand in the menu department so no worries there.
AND this game will be a great on to pick up when it comes over state side aswell because it will have a brand new list of songs! It will be like 2 totaly different games so you really have nothing to lose ;)
