ive played this before and am soon going to order this and ultimate stars from play asia as an anime fan and fighting fan this is the perfect gamecfor anyone else with this taste and i use to like naruto but it kinda sucks now drag out fights and to much focus on sasuke who i hate i watched one piece first and its better anyway so now i can finally wail on the naruto characters asses with onepiece characters but i still have some sympathy for naruto characters anyway a fan of anime or fighting all together this is a must buy for sure

Over 30+ characters, many missions, and it makes it awsome because instead of just beating the game easily in english, it gives you a hard time in Japanese which im currently learning! I've recently bought the game and I've been having fun with it. It only took me about 2 or 3 hours to understand what to do,but when I did,I started to have a lot more fun. My only complaint is the fact that some characters are only for support and not playable at all. Other than that,I still enjoy the game.I think of it as a must-buy for fighting and Shonen Jump fans alike.

A game worth the price!
This game is super dynamic with a list of hundreds of help, support, and battle komas that you can play with. You make a deck with your komas (or manga panels) and can create an awesome deck. The gameplay is ridicolously awesome and you will be glued to your computer looking at the guide. The game does get hard but no worrys because if you play long enough, you will become a master, but that doesn't mean it'll be a walk in a park.

So if you want a game with your favorite manga characters from Shonen Jump magazine and love fighting and whooping some emo ass (obvisously Sasuke) then buy this and you'll be amazed at how great it is.

This is one of the best games I have played in years.

It has the game speed of Naruto GNT 3/4.

It has the charecter randomness of Super Smash Bros.

This game has the most playable characters I have ever seen, mixed with the massave deck building mode, the game play is almost never ending.

My only major complaints would have to be the level designs are too simple, the AI will never be a challenge, and there is no WIFI.

Highly Addicting
This was my first import game and I am happy to say it was a great expericance for me. The game was very much fun and I spent many days on this game. Knowing Kanji isnt really needed to play the game but if you wish to unlock everything, then problems will arise without a guide of some sort. It is also a bit harder to match the Koma together because you dont know what the character is saying. All and all, its easy to jump into (no pun intended), fun to play, and a must buy for any Jump fans.

Crazy fun
First Japanese game ive ever played, tons of characters and moves and combos, and using the touch screen to use your custom special moves is an awesome idea. One of the greatest DS games i own. It's hard to do the missions if you can't read japanese but there are online translation guides to make it easier.
Definatly worth the bucks, can't wait for ultimate stars!

One of the Best Fighting Games in a While!
This was one of the games last year that I REALLY had to buy, but mostly out of Shonen Jump fandom. Really, now that I've had it for a while, it is one of the best fighting games I have ever played. It is reminiscent of Super Smash Bros., in the way that there's all-out battles with interactive levels and barrels of goodies, and each character has a great set of moves to work with. Personally, Ichigo and Zolo are my favs, and to those who don't know Japanese, don't fret! It's easy to figure out what you're doing, and you might even beat the game without knowing anything about it! That's how I kinda did it...but seriously! Get this game ASAP and reserve Jump Ultimate Stars too! (Insert Hitsugaya fandom here).

I abosolutely LOVE this game!
It wasn't even difficult to learn how to play...and I know NOTHING in Japanese. The graphics are good, the fighting is AWESOME, and the character choice is great! I love the many character combinations and building my own deck, because now I can have Don Patch (Poppa Rocks) and Luffy as a team to beat the heck out of other characters! Yay.

This game is really good!! The language barrier is not a big problem and the guides are helpful too(although i printed mine weird). I like the game but I'm sure an english version would be more easily understood. It only took 6 days to get to canada which is awesome. ummm...... not much more to say... Ohhh i'm trying to learn japanese and i hope this sorta budges me into that language a bit.... i doubt it though....any way good game, reccommended by ME!.... now that I think about what i wrote it's not really a review then me talking. I cant wait for pt 2. the only thing lacking is wifi. put that on pt2 and its on. id like to beat all of u who have the game. wifi definitely needs to be a part of all handheld games. it adds longer gameplay plus bragging rights.just hope pt2 has ss4 goku and some bad guys from all.villains have skills n fans too.

dude, this is great. It's like smash bros just with anime characters. And even better, not only do you get to play a game of smash bros with your fav anime characters, but you get to play as your fav anime characters AND beat up the really gay anime characters, like pumbling the one piece guy as kakashi! It's good, but...
You know, if my brother didn't have it it wouldn't be half as fun. Yes, using Zoro and Sanji and Luffy and Yoh (I wish I could use Hao) and Naruto and Sasuke and Gokuu and Gohan (I wanted Yamcha...) is great fun, but throwing in Death Note characters (Raito, L, Misa) just as support characters sorta bothers me. And once you get all the koma, there's really nothing to do but multiplayer.

However, with the announced Jump! Super Stars 2... maybe we'll at least get villains to play or something in addition to Wi-Fi play. Who else wants to beat up little Japanese kids?

Honestly, its like SuperSmash Brothers hit Shounen Jump with a paper Fan and merged! You combine your favorite characters with your gaming skill to put them up against duels against others, whats there not to like? Who hasnt wanted to See Goku Againts Naruto, or even Kenshin vs Luffei.

I'm a pretty big anime fan, and let me say that this game has everything you'd want in a fighting game! Double team moves, counters, switching char's on the fly, a big character list, good move list, (similar to SSBM) a great fighting system, and a lot of strategy! This is hands down one of the best fighters I've ever played, and I've played my fair share of them. Even if you don't know one bit of Japanese, (I don't know a thing) this game is still amazing. Just go on gamefaqs or ign(they have the best guide available.) The fact that you can be Naruto, Goku, Luffy, Bobobobobobo, Vegeta, Picollo, Sasuke, Kenshin, among many other famous anime characters, is enough reason to buy the game in itself. I recommend this game to any fighter fan and also anime fans. Heck, even if you don't like anime this game is still the shiz:)

Unbelievable!!
Just like the title...this game is unbelievable!!! You can use a huge amount of anime and manga characters from Naruto, Shaman King, One Piece, and more!

You cannot use ALL of the characters in the game, you can only use a certain amount, but those are a lot too; the rest of them you use them like support (they appear and attack, or make an effect or something, and leave), and help characters (only affect status).

Another thing is that some people complain of the game being entirely japanese...I don't complain...and I don't have a clue of how to read japanese..it feels kinda funny looking at all those symbols and don't understand anything, I'm starting to get used to it, and I like it. Of course, to get through the game, you can get a walktrough of this game almost anywhere..so there's no problem of not knowing what to do next.

To make this short..this game rocks!, you can hardly find a better game on DS..at least in the U.S. ..so it's well worth the import..and Play-Asia is faithful in the deliveries..but if you are not sure...just order it with UPS..it's safer taht way..and you know where your parcel is.

Well..I just leave you with the last few words: "IF YOU LIKE ANIME OR MANGA, YOU HAVE TO BUY THIS GAME!"..

Awesome... while it lasts
This is so far my favorite DS game on the market. i got through this game in 31 hours so its prety lengthy. of course this doesnet include the multiplayer (ive spent probaly 6 hours on single card and 3 hours on multicard.)

I have also convinced 3 of my friends to get this game by just playing single card download play.

If you like fighting games of any type then i suggest getting this.

Pros: The best fighting game for any system.

Cons: There's not much to do after you complete the single player story mode, besides play with friends.

I don't speak Japanese, I don't know half the characters (over 150!!) and I love this game! The ability to customize your "deck" is just awesome. Very exstensive adventure mode. Spectacular special attacks ( and funny ones too ). The stages are a bit dull though...

This is by far one of my favs for the DS so far. A blast to play in story mode, but made for multiplayer! If they make another, it'd better be WiFi!

Unlocking characters can be a pain if you can't read Japanese, but there are good FAQs on GameFAQs that can walk you through the process.

From what I've heard, the next installment of the Naruto series on DS is going to be similar to this rather than a sidescroller. Can't wait for that, either.

All in all, if you like anime, manga, fighters, or just enjoy having a great time playing with your friends, then give this game a shot. It's a blast!

no way does this game deserve 5 stars. and yes, it might be the best fighting game on the ds, but thats not saying much. overall its fun to play, very similar to smash bros, but the luster of character involvement ultimately becomes overshadowed by the limited gameplay. and trust me, if you cant speak japanese in the slightest, it only hinders the experience.

Fun while it lasts, an honest review
This game is fun.

The character selection is good but this isn't your normal fighter.

Keep in mind you'll have to using the touch screen to aid you in the fights, summonig support characters and using help characters to aid you is a crucial part. Alothough you can beat it all without using a single help or support character.

Don't be decieved by the "Over 100 character"

Most are just help and support. There a fewer fighting ones.

The most popular Manga characters made it in this game, sorry Beet. That means you'll see a lot of DBZ, One Piece, and Naruto fighters in this game (as well as help and support characters). The less popular ones like Gintama have one fighter and around 2-3 support and help characters. This won't be a problem however if you like big name Manga.

The top screen is where up to four players duke it out for the title of the wnner. The bottom screen is the most interesting part of the game. Here, you place KOMA. KOMA are the little blocks you see on the bottom screen and consist of Help (1 block), support (2-3), and Battle (4-6 blocks, popular fighters might have a 7 block that must be unlocked). You gain these things by going through the main adventure mode, where you MUST have a translation or help guide nearby to help beat the
game if you CANNOT speak japanese. These can be convieniently found on GameFAQS. Putting together the "Deck" is the funnest part. Think of all the combinations you can do... Kakashi and Ichigo teaming and showing everyone true power or Jo Jo and Bo Bo Bo kicking some serious butt.
This is all a lot of fun and gives the game 1 STAR!

This is a good game, however, it is short and can be VERY BORING after you get every Koma. Especially if you don't know anyone else who has this game. The computers aren't very challenging, the toughest level computer can beat by using the same attack over and over. It is obvious after playing that the target audience for this game in Japan was 7-13 year olds due to game difficulty. Sometimes, Koma will boost other Koma if placed by each other. Such as placing Naruto next to Kakashi or placing Rukia next to Ichigo. This adds another depth of startegy to the whole Deck making process.

There is another thing to this game that adds more depth to the game, each Character's atribute. There are three atributes: Power, Laughter, and Knowledge.

Power>Knowledge>Laughter>Power
Power beats Knowledge
Knowledge beats Laughter
Laughter beats Power
Well they don't really beat it, more or less it just adds extra damage (x1.5) if you connect hits rightly and counter your fore's fighter. Let's see... it's like this...

Does 45 damage points.
Kenshin does Kyuzu-Ryusen to Kakashi (Knowledge)
Does 67 damage (rounded down)
Use your fighters wisely

It gains a point for offering some of the best multiplayer the DS can offer right now. You can even play single pack, but it can get boring after a while.

It's OK
But not all 150 characters are playable. Most of them are just simply strickers that will help you recover HP or put a trap into the stage.

The Manga strips in the bottom screen is just a character selection menu to change characters in the level. Something more dynamic could do the trick.

The only use thet gave to the stylus was to navigate through the menu.

It's still pretty cool if you're an otaku though.

The multiplayer mode is the reason I bought this game because i heard it was like super smash bros, and i love playing ssb multiplayer, so i bought this game and i got a bunch of friends together and we played for hours and now they too are thinking of buying this game!

I'll start by saying I don't have anyone to play multiplayer with (yet; I'm giving a second copy as a christmas gift), can't read any Japanese, and don't know 95% of the characters. That said, this game is really, really fun. Don't worry about the language barrier, any online guide can tell you what you need to know.

I'm sure I'd get more out of the game if I knew Japanese or if I was more familiar with the characters, but I can say that the gameplay alone is reason enough to get it. I just got MarioKart, and this is the only game that makes me take that out of the DS. The only thing they could have added is online play, but I guess it was released too early for that. Still definitely worth getting, especially if you know someone else who has it.

Awesome fun
All my favourite characters from Shounen Jump in this Smash Brothers-styled fighting all-out beat-'em-up. It's a very fun game, great sound effects but the background music is a bit repetitive. The graphics look amazing and a lot of detail has gone into the character designs and attacks.

There's a fair bit of Japanese text in this game, which made 'adventure mode' a little challenging as you need to fulfil certain requirements before you can clear a stage e.g. don't use special attacks or get more KOs than your opponent.

Haven't tried multiplayer yet as I don't know anyone with a DS, but it looks great.

This game is soo entertaining, with all the manga characters appearing on your DS screen. From Goku to Naruto. It is very exciting to unlock characters as there are many of them. I manage to unlock all of them and enjoy every character. This is a must for anime fans.

Gameplay (10/10)
For a fighting game, the battle system is INCREDIBLY detailed. Who you fight as depends on your Koma deck. Help Komas take up one square, Partner Komas take up 2-3, and Battle Komas (who you play as) take up 4-7 squares, with 7 being the most powerful. When you create your deck, placing certain characters next to each other, connecting them, or putting specific help komas in the deck, can make the deck/characters stronger. The single player experience takes at least 25 hours to get a decent amount of Komas. Unlocking them all (527) can take a while longer though. The battle system never got old, and I was having fun the whole time.

Graphics (10/10)
Although being in 2D, the special effects are amazing. Huge blasts of energy fly across the screen, and backrounds are very detailed. There is no slowdown at all, which surprised me. There is alot of action on screen at once. All in all the graphics were awesome. It makes you sad that 2D is going away.

Sound (8/10)
Nothing real special. The music was catchy sometimes, but the blasts/attacks weren't all that great. Not bad though. Most of the time I played with the sound off, but that's just me.

Multiplayer (10/10)
Perfect. THE multiplayer game for the DS, (with the exception being Mario Kart, since it's online) which had me showing all my friends how awesome this game was. Single cart only allows 1 map, and a handful of characters, but multicart is AMAZING. Talk your friends into getting it. Seriously, it will amaze you.

Replay Value (10/10)
Remember when i said 527 Komas? Yeah, I think that's all that needs to be said. Finding all of them gives this game extreme length. It will last you a while, making it worth the money you spent on it. Plus mulitplayer will keep you coming back for more.

Don't hesitate to get this game. If you don't have a DS, I suggest you get one. Because there is a lot of great software coming out for it, including this game.

I've recieve the game a long time already. The game has 657 characters available. The last one will be Goku 7 blocks, which has an incredible HP, defense, attack and with it's reji Sword the attack is violent. In order to get it you must unlock all the 656 characters and blank. You have to win what they ask for example you have to hit until opponent fall down from cliff 3 times for each.

Super Smash Bros., what's that? This IS the ultimate game for everybody who liked SSB, although this is ten times better than Super Smash Bros. Single Player is great, you really do have to get 'em all. Multiplayer is the greatest things ever if everybody has their own copy of the game, "one game multiplayer" is a joke demo version compared to the full version of the multiplayer. Can't recommend this enough.

Absolutely recommended. Although Japanese languase is REALLY present in this game, you'll figure it out. Trust me. Will it be on your own or with IGN's FAQ's who knows... just get it. And fight Kenshin against cursed Sasuke with your friends and be happy. For good.

They hit every nail on the head with this and now I believe more than ever there should be a super smash bros on the DS if this game is any indication.

This game is by far the best DS game yet. I don't know a word of japanise and with a little help from the internet guilds I was fighting like a pro in no time. Even with the language barrier this game is extremely excesible and simply a blast to play. If you can get a friend to get the game you will have a multilplayer match not seen since your SSBM days. So print off you faq, read up on some of the charactors and order yours today!

If you have a DS, you simply need this game. If you have no knowledge of japanese, it may take you a bit to figure stuff out, but you'll manage! When I first heard that my favorite Jump titles would be in it like One Piece, Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, Dragon Ball. Death Note, Bleach, Eyeshield 21, Hikaru no Go and Death Note... I was thinking that it would suck because it seemed too good to be true... but I put hope in and imported it and I love the game. Not only was I able to kick Naruto's ass as much as I wanted, but it was simply fun. Multiplayer is a blast. Trading decks is fun so you can try out your friend's deck and possibly try characters out that you would not try on your own and end up liking them. It's simply a great game and I am going to go play it more now...

Wow. Just...Wow.
First off, I wanna tell all the Smash Bros. Fanatics that there is finally a game that is better than SSBM. It is Jump! Superstars. Theres more to Unlock. More characters. More fun. And I can say this because I LOVE Smash Bros. But alas, Jump! is better. If only because Theres nowhere else in the world where you can see Yugi and Goku go at it!

If you've ever enjoyed a Japanese Manga, you will like this game. But I warn you: It is SERIOUSLY Text heavy. So if you don't know any Japanese, or couldn't be bothered to learn, you'll be spending a ton of time playing this with your PC. (Translation guides are all over the net.) But if you know Japanese, or are learning, (Like me! ^^) you will get 110% out of this game.

The single player modes have tons of stuff to unlock, its funny to see crazy manga/anime dream matches, and the multiplayer is a blast! (Single card download included! 2-4 players.) So do yourself the favour of buying this one from play-asia.com. Its worth it!

The only thing that can make this game better, is if Nintendo releases a translated verson over here. It'd make millions! And lets all look forward to the possible sequel. Nintendo Jump! Superstars 2. Where Mario and Link can duke it out with Naruto and Krillin! That's all we need. Enjoy the game! It is truly amazing.

My first import and boy, what a game. Although I have no knowledge of Japanese whatsoever, it's still fun to battle it out in exhibition and I managed to figure out the koma. As I continue, it should be pretty great!

GREATESR GAMES IVE EVER PLAYED! And there are tons of translation guides on the net. But thats really the only problem.
If your gonna play the story mode or if your gonna make a deck you have to pretty much stay at the computer unless you know japanese. If only there was something on the DS that translated japanese to english.
That would be the best ^_^

I know this game is one of the best right now on DS with Advance Wars and Kirby but it's not a reason or any game will be a reason to trade PSP with DS!!! cmon it's crazy and really fanboyish please don't put things like that here! your makin a bad impression on buyers! Amazing Game
It plays kind of like smash bros and has a sould calibur esque stroy mode, which has immense replayability due to teh fact that most levels have multiple completion condition. It all starts of with a fair range of characters split up amongst the thr4ee categories of attack support and help with an immense amound of characters lifted from some of the most popular anime series out there. Like most of the lovely japanese releases tthis supports single cart play, with more options being available via multicart mode.
Even though i was stung by teh customs man to teh tune of 8 of my english pounds, i still believe this to be well worthy of the purchase, and has given me added impetus to enrol for beginners japanese classes so as to be able to better understand the full nature of the titles greatness.

The game offers an inivative but yet intuitive use of the touch screen and provides a fluid method of control that just wouldnt be as fluid on any other console.

Graphics filt the subjet matter very well and sound is right up there with the familiar beats that can be found in the various anime series.

In short a solid resoning for why having a ds can be cool

The reason why I traded my PSP
I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 because of my lack of japaness skills. OK now to move forward I traded my PSP for a Nintendo DS because of one great game and is Jump superstar and I'm happy I gamble on it because it is great hoping this would be dubbed for a U.S. release. Look out PSP it look like nintendo is here to stay in the handheld market for a very very very...........longtime and still regin as KING OF HANDHELD. Reasons is because nintendo know what game is and is ment to be fun. NOT SERIOUS LIKE PSP Which is one main reason why I traded it for a nintendo ds. NINTENDO DO A PART 2 WITH JUMP SUPERSTAR VS. it's not my favorite, but it's good; even if the gameplay isn't as great as smash bors melee, it's still good and fun playing with all those chars...even if for now I haven't played with more than 5 characters, I m really stuck due to my almost zero japanese skills. well I received it today, so i guess I should try a little more, but it seems a lot complicated.

What more can one say?
This game is quite simply amazing. It is a Super Smash Bros. like battle jump'n'run with the customization fun of a trading card game (but no luck required) and tons of unlockable support- and battle-characters (each of which handles differently). And it works perfectly on the DS, with the second touch screen. This game is a true highlight, even if (like me) you're only a little familiar with two of those mangas (a fact which even now is changing). There's no real reason NOT to buy this game (After all, japanese can be learned and the DS has lots of other games to offer). But excuse me now, I have to get back to battling...

Yo I just played this game at my friends house who got it shipped from japan and its crazyyy!!! He knew japanese so he taught me how to play and told me what was going on. Man Kenshin, dbz, one piece, NARUTO... too much lol

Great game!
I wouldn't say it's the perfect game, but it's definitely worth buying. You'd probably get the most out of it if you have a good grasp of Japanese; you'll need it to play adventure mode...and it's probably good to know at least a little so you know what you're doing in the menus. Don't worry if you don't know any Japanese though, there's plenty of online FAQs to help you out too. ^_^ Play-Asia was very fast in processing and shipping out the game to me too.

Fantastic!
This game was one of the reasons that made me buy NDS, and I don't regret that I bought one. The Adventure mode is nice! So much to unlock and stuff...The deck making was a bit difficult at first, but after reading the manual (with my lousy japanese skills) I managed to get a grip on it! A must buy! and thanks to Play-Asia.com for the fast delivery.

If you have no knowledge of japanese this game is difficult, yet all the more rewarding (instead of matching up manga panels using clues you have to do it systematically!!) THe walkthroughs help, but i personally only use them if i cant figure out what to do in the j world by scouring the text descriptions for an A B X Y or up down left right 5 10 20. Awesome game awesome fun, but if there were just a few more option in the otherwise seamless and smooth single card multiplayer it would have been all the better!!

If I have to wait for Smash Bros. DS...
Hands down, this is one of the best handheld fighting games I have everplayed. The DS hardware is used superbly in this title. The music, sound effects, character roster, and play engine are all spot on. Definately a must own for DS owners and Jump fans alike.

Jump Super Stars is such a great game. There is just so much to unlock and it has single cart multiplayer. It is text heavy but there are english walkthroughs online that you can find to help you out.

You really can make a deck all your own. The game play is really like a hand held smash bro's. I cannot read a word of japanesse or chinese. i herd that this game was gonna be a hit for the DS out in japan so i already reserved mine in America. It has already come out here but it got sold out in ONE DAY!!! So i have to come back another time when they are in stock...i know the jump comics are in english too but i dont think this game will come out for america in english.

Got the game today and kept playing it the whole day long! Really awesome how much characters and moves this game features! And the gameplay is great. The only thing I missed: Character Voices. But if you think about, more than 100 characters... that would cost a lot of voice actors. :P

THE import-game
Chances for a North American release aren't very big, and for an european one they are even smaller. This game is without a doubt worth a place in your collection.

Jump Superstars - the wet dream of every manga lover?
What surprised me is the fact that Raito from Death Note is playable - one of the best manga characters I know of.
And even Hitman Reborn! Jump chose really good characters, and if the action plays like Super Smash Bros then this title is going to be absolutley rocking your DS!
