description
The Nintendo 3DS is based on a custom Pica200 graphics processor from a Japanese start-up Digital Media Professionals (DMP). It has two screens; the top screen is a 3.53-inch 5:3 3D screen with a resolution of 800x240 pixels (400x240 pixels per eye, WQVGA) that is able to produce a stereoscopic three-dimensional effect without 3D glasses, while the bottom screen is a 3.02-inch 4:3 non-3D touch panel with a resolution of 320x240 pixels (QVGA). The 3DS weighs approximately 8 oz. and, when closed, is 5.3 inches wide, 2.9 inches long, and 0.8 inches tall.
The system features several additions to the design of the original DS, including a slider on the side of the device that adjusts the intensity of the 3D effect, a round nub analog input called the "Slide Pad", an accelerometer, and a gyroscope. In addition, there is an infra-red communicator port situated on the top of the unit.
The 3DS has two cameras on the outside of the device, capable of taking 3D photos and capturing 3D video, as well as a camera positioned above the top screen that faces the player; both cameras have a resolution of 640x480 pixels (0.3 Megapixel). The system also has 3D movie playback capability.
Compatible with both Nintendo DS and DSi games, and a new generation of 3DS games.

This next-gen handheld is a joy to own
This system is packed with features, and innovation. The augmented reality games are near impossible to describe to someone, you just have to see it in action. It can take 3d pictures, and with a software update it can also take 3d movies. I could go on ad nauseum about the goodies Nintendo has packed into this machine.
That said, the system does have some drawbacks.
The construction of the system feels cheap. The hinge on the system can sometimes allow the top screen to slam into the bottom screen, resulting in 2 vertical scratches on the 3d display. Invest in a protection filter.
The internet browser on this machine is quite frankly, broken. Until it is fixed I just cannot give this system 5 stars, however incredible and cutting edge it may be.
HTML5 and Flash simply do not work on it. Nintendo does not want their customers watching video content for free and playing Flash based games. What this means is that about 90% of the websites you like to visit just won't work on this machine.
If you're like me and like to travel light, this is a serious drawback. I don't like carrying around multiple expensive electronic devices, and Nintendo's decision to deliberately cripple their internet browser has ensured that my 3DS stays at home comfortably sitting on its charging dock.
I recently emailed Nintendo of America to level criticisms at them for this decision (their competitor, Sony, at least has a browser that works) and they basically told me to go pound sand. They have no intentions of making the 3DS internet browser work with modern websites.

Dang I love this, thought I dont own any Japanese 3DS games, it can play your DS games, and your Japanese DSi enhancement games I do plan on getting KH3D thats one of the main reasons I got this. Also the menu isnt hard just if you have the US version one you can Just follow that and look at the Japanese and US version one at the same time to get the menu memorized :3

Nintendo 3DS
Despite being region locked, it's still easy to get used to reading the 3DS home menu in Japanese. liked the augmented reality games and cards, but the cards didn't exactly "move", only had a series of poses.
