An excellent SRPG
Anybody looking for a Strategy RPG in the vein of Final Fantasy Tactics or Jeanne D Arc, look no further. Wild Arms XF is a highly enjoyable tactics based rpg.
The gameplay is very similar to other titles in its genre. The are 4 categories in the gameplay department: World Map, Towns, Menus and Battle. The World Map allows you to move between locations or battles. However unlike its predecessors, there are no random battles. Simply select your destination and your character will go there.
The class selection is one of the best aspects of Wild Arms XF. There are 20 different unique classes that you can choose. You only have access to 4 classes besides the default one for each player that you have access to. Each class is unique and has certain skills that are more beneficial to certain missions than others. You can also create your own characters and choose their names and classes which brilliant, but hard to find in SRPGs nowadays.
Graphically, Wild Arms XF is pretty good. Its not as good looking as games like Crisis Core : Final Fantasy 7 but it really doesnt need to be in a game of this genre. Where the game does excel however is in its presentation. Wild Arms delivers a solid story and strong tactical gameplay.
The game features a western inspired soundtrack which blends with the action and even during the cutscenes. The battle sounds are also pretty cool. The english voice overs are decent overall, however the japanese is better.
I was very impressed with this title and I would recommend Wild Arms XF to anyone that is looking for a new a Strategy RPG to play and they just don’t get any better than this.

A refreshing take on the series
I am not normally a fan of SRPGs, but the way it uses the HEX system this time around is done very well. The pacing of the game-play is just right, at the same time retaining a lot of strategy to keep you thinking. I am also impressed with the characters, and soundtrack for the game.
For anyone who is a fan of both Japanese and English voice acting, the game is dual-audio.
Definitely a worthy installment to the series.
