description
Dementium: The Ward combines action-adventure, first-person shooter and survival horror into one nightmarish experience. Pushing the limits of the Nintendo DS with full 3D visuals, this "next generation" title will set the bar for mature handheld games.
Dementium tells the tale of a man who awakens to find himself alone, with no memories of his past, in a mysterious, derelict hospital that is frozen in time. Confronted by the deadly, grotesque surgical experiments that wander the halls, a series of challenging puzzles and a cast of peculiar characters, he must face his deepest fears, unlock the mysteries of the hospital, and escape with his life. A completely new experience on the Nintendo DS, Dementium promises to creep you out with gory visuals and bone-chilling audio that brings the world screaming to life.

Good survival horror game
Pretty good atmosphere and graphics, good controls, but frustrating saving system

Interesting failure
This first person horror adventure can really suck you in with it's creepy visuals and haunting atmosphere, but it just as quickly spits you out with it's incomprehensibly stupid design choices. When you die you have to restart an entire level. Enemies respawn but ammo and health items do not. Short draw distance hides enemies that leap at you and kill you in a few hits before you can react, and a dozen other things that make no sense in modern games. But I will say this, keep an eye out for the sequel, there is a lot of good ideas here that I hope will not go to waste twice.

Good horror game
Dementium makes good use of the DS abilities with tight, responsive controls (better than Metroid). The game isn't action-packed, but oozes atmosphere which is greatly helped by fantastic graphics and sound.
However, the levels are very repetitive and frequent viewing of the map is necessary. Sadly, you can't label the map although there is a notebook for taking down clues.
Additional complaints are that, unless you really enjoy the game, you probably wont replay it once you finish. Completion will take about 8 hours (not including deaths or puzzle problems)
If you like the sound of a horror game on DS and have/dislike Resident Evil/Bio-hazard, consider this game as a worthwhile purchase.
