The best FF3 ever.
Great art direction.
THis is a remake of a the ancient FF3.
While the gameplay feel grindy, the story is pretty decent and charming.

Great!
First off, English speaking buyers... don't hold back, this game comes in both English and Japanese (Possibly a few more languages, I haven;t tried more, since the game displays text in the language selected in the menu for the PSP settings).

Another great point is that the secret quests are not dependent of you communicating with other players via wi-fi anymore.

All in all a great buy.

Good RPG
I would have rather this game stuck to sprite based 2D graphics. That being said they still did a good job with the 3D rendering.

Since this is the only official release of FF3 in English fans of the series should experience the story no matter what the game looks like!

New Mood and fun to play
Well, I've never played FF3 before among all the FF series. In my opinion was a fun game to play through and graphically was very nice. Altough the storyline not too intense and deep compare to other FF series but I do enjoy playing it. Not a bad RPG for hardcore RPGs fans

another great remake
FF III is the only Final Fantasy that hasn't been remade or ported from its original console (NES or Famicom) into another.
but no worries! for you FF fans who want to play FF III, now it's been remade in Nintendo DS!
just like FF IV, this FF is fully remade into 3D world, voice acting is added, and another features like Wifi connection supported.
must have for FF fans out there!

New graphics, but its true age shows
FF3 shows how much the franchise, as well as RPGs in general, have grown over the years. All the core elements of a Final Fantasy game are here. Jobs, air ships, dude called Cid, crystal warriors chosen to save the world from evil, chocobos and ultimate weapons.

The job system allows for easy party customisation. Any character can be any class and there are a lot of classes. If you want 4 melee classes you can do that. If you want 4 casters you can do that. If you want a balanced party you can also do that.Jobs gain levels when you use them and become more powerful as you use them. Job level is based on actions taken not exp gained so a lvl 1 white mage will still need 6 actions to reach level 2 whether they are fighting Bahamut or a Goblin. This makes the game very punishing to anyone who likes to change jobs often. Combined with a transition period after switching jobs which lasts 10 battles and you will find yourself wanting to stick with the same class for the majority of the game. Some classes don't become available until the end of the game and by then your job levels will be so high you probably won't want to switch.

World exploration leads to random battles, which are turn based, so nothing new here. This makes combat pretty simple; you either heal before they hit you, or after they hit you. Everyone else attacks/uses magic. Most physical classes have minimal difference between their abilities and you will usually just attack. Equipment can be found, but later in the game it is usually bought. This becomes very expensive and encourages A LOT of grind if you want good gear early on, or at all. Many players won't even bother buying the more powerful spells because they are so expensive.

Graphically the game is a fully 3D world and it looks nice enough. Character sprites are chibified with big heads and cutesy designs but they capture the original class designs well. Dungeons are 3D but the simplistic design of many of them makes the areas lack in atmosphere almost as if they were randomly generated. Enemy design is interesting and fits the genre well, the sprites look good and animations are mostly smooth.

The story is really where FF3 falls down. The game feels souless. The four player characters have names and are all orphans. That sums up their character development. They are souless shells you control, very little character or personality comes across. There is almost no plot or story involved in this game and that is a huge dissapointment. Half of the game I wasn't even sure what I was doing because there was also very little exposition. Towns lack personality and merely serve as locations to buy spells/weapons. Supporting characters are given as little attention as the playable ones and this leaves a huge hole in the game. I didn't care at all about any of these characters, they were just sprites.

The added wifi quest is simply a mailing quest to access the most powerful weapons, but this simply acts as a barrier to those without wifi or friends with the game, or at best, a burden to those with it. It offers no new gameplay or multiplayer content, just a hoop to jump through.

Final Fantasy 3 was a fun game to play through and graphically was very nice. Unfortunately the absence of a story or character development is a severe flaw which makes the experience feel empty and forgettable, especially compared to the increasingly complex stories of modern RPGs. With a little more love this could have been a great game. It is currently just a good game. The game play is fun enough and there is enough content to keep you going for 30+ hours. Fans of the old school RPG will enjoy the gameplay, but will probably crave a deeper story. People expecting a FF title as polished in every area as the more recent releases will probably be disappointed.

Yes! It's is The Final Fantasy
For those who seeking an original PRG, this is the game for you. It will drive you into the age of knight and magic when Bad guy rule the world and only you, the light warrior, could defeat the army of him. Classical plot, but very enjoy. I love it more than modern RPG in 3D world. And I wish Square-enix will keep transform FF V, FF VI into NDS.

old school rpg remake
A faithful remake of an old but very solid rpg originally for the Japanese nes with a few added bonuses such as wireless communication.
The 3D graphics are amazing for a nintendo DS game, the sound and music are both high quality and the gameplay is both solid and challenging.

Pleasantly surprised
I had seen mixed reviews about the game but finally decided to get it and I'm glad I did. It's been done really well. I'm really impressed with the graphics and gameplay. The only let down is the seriously dated storyline; by today's standards it's rather cliche, but thats to be expected with a remake of an older game. Definitely worth the purchase.

It’s FF3 and it’s now also portable, need I say more? Oh, and graphically its had a complete overhaul, leaving it looking quite nice for a DS game. Plus there’s no other way to play FF3, so it’s great for fans of the series. Still haven’t finished the game but from what I’ve played I like.

Great remake
If only more remakes of older games were of this calibre. The graphics are some of the best you'll see on the DS and the soundtrack is just as impressive. Sure the game is a bit light on story, but there is enough there to keep you motivated to play through the game. The game isn't as difficult as some people have made it out to be and you do not have to level grind ad nauseum to pass dungeons. The only exception to this is the last boss who is a cheap $%^#. Definitely a worthwhile addition to your DS library.

i didnt like this game
graphics are realy good for a ds game, but apart from that you can tell this is a game originally made for the NES, and it shows big time, with a lame storyline, and insanely repetitive gameplay that makes you go mad and plus this game is very hard, and the atrocious save system does not help at all making it even harder.

I feel the game for all it's hype...
is lacking heavly in the additional screen that’s also touchable department.

But save for that and the general chompy-like handling it’s a beautiful game that I think needed a bit more time in develpment.

I'm surprised they didn't put this on the psp since the graphics would have been about 10 times better and I don't feel the ds stylus really added anything. However, the dual screens was very helpful, especially for knowing where you're going on the map! Never-the-less, this is a really enjoyable game. The character classes will keep you occupied...and give some great cosplay ideas ;)
The plot doesn't live up to that of any other final fantasy, apart from tactics advance, but the different moves depending on your class and the need for magic to get through the game will stop you from continuously pushing the 'attack' button....until you get the really powerful weapons that is.

Really GOOD! Yay! :D
This is absolutely worth every penny. I ordered it from here because it's so.much.cheaper than in stores, especially over here in holland, and fell in love with it right from the bat.

For starters, it looks great. Adorable sprites and quite impressive in-game graphics. The way the characters are portrayed really takes me back to the good ol FF7 days, and I'm not entirely sure but I THINK I heard FF8's end credit's song about 2 hours in. It's so nostalgic! I'm really utterly charmed by it.

Another great thing about this game is that it'll take you quite a while. I'm only a few hours in and the difficulty is, for me, just right. It fluctuates a bit, for example a certain dungeon is right in front of your nose,a nd should you wander in you will no doubt be killed. I can't remember any recent rpg's who did that sort of thing anymore. What I'm saying is that it's not a game you can just breeze through, but at the same time it's not so hard that it gets frustrating.

So for me this is just another high point. I loved Magical Starsign but was kinda let-down by the overall too easy gameplay. FF 3 is a big step up from other recent ds rpgs, and just a FUN game to play.
The job system is a bit confusing at first, but you'll figure it out quickly and from there on it's a really nice feature. Just seeing the sprites change outfits is just so cute XDDD Oh and yeah, it's a nice strategic (and fun) spin on the whole fighting thing.

The ONLY thing that let me down is the Mognet system, but I'm not terribly sad about it. XD Even without Wifi this is a great game, no kidding, PLUS the mognet system is in fact use-able and all, it's just really.grating. >_< But it works! Just takes a bit of patience.

miya's superdooper rating: 9/10!! ^__^

Play-Asia has his service well unpacked. I will sure drop by for more stuff.

As for the game itself. Its amazing! It brings me back to the days when i was playing FF7. The music, the story, the characters, it all hooks you up from the very begining of the game. Its just makes you wanna cry. LoL!

FF3 is also the main reason why i bought the Nintendo DS Lite. I am glad that i have done it. If you are a FF fan this is a must have to your collection. If you have never played RPG and you want to enter this world. This will be a great welcome game to the genre. Square Enix trully know how to bring the magic.

Absolutely awesome!
This game is just simply brilliant. The graphics are awesome, the gameplay is awesome, and to be able to play a FF game on my DS is just awesome!! I use the guide from Gamebrink to get myself through the game. It is worth buying if you don't know Japanese because you have the gamebrink guide ^_^. Definately worth buying whatever version you buy. And it was delivered to me in 4 days!!! That is superb service from the best import site out there! Thank you Play-Asia!

Instant classic...again!
You'll simultaneously fall in love with both the game and Play-Asia!

I’ll most likely buy the US version from this site too.
