- All game control is via the touch screen, and the stylus makes controlling Link more natural than ever. Touch the screen to guide Link through the world, or sweep the stylus around him to swing his sword. Players can even make notes on the map, chart routes for their boat or draw paths for their boomerang.
- With Tetra missing, Link must enlist the aid of several fairies as he explores dangerous wilds, uncharted seas and baffling dungeons. As he does, he meets an array of fascinating characters, hunts for powerful weapons and collects sand for a mysterious artifact called the Phantom Hourglass. Over time, it will enable him to progress deeper and deeper into the ultimate dungeon.
- Players compete with a friend over local wireless or Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection as they guide Link through special battle stages to capture Force Gems or command the forces that oppose him.

The Legend of Zelda®: Wind Waker closed with Link and Tetra setting sail for waters unknown ... but their story was just beginning, and it continues on the Nintendo DS. When a mysterious fog waylays their band of pirates and leaves Link alone on an unfamiliar island, a new adventure begins.
Link, Tetra and Tetra's band of pirates have set sail in search of new lands at the end of the Wind Waker adventure. Several months later, they come across a patch of ocean covered in a dense fog, in which they discover a mysterious ghost ship. Tetra falls into danger when she sets out to explore the ship alone, and Link falls into the ocean when he attempts to rescue her. When he washes up unconscious, he is awakened by the sound of a fairy's voice. With the aid of this fairy and other allies, he sets off to explore waters uknown.

Gotta love Zelda games
Phantom Hourglass is the first Zelda game for the DS system, it follows the classic zelda formula, having dungeons to explore, items to find, puzzles to solve and entertaining bosses to kill.
This game implemented the Stylus controlled Zelda games, and even when people think it can be annoying or not convinient, the game does an awesome job and the controls are perfect (except for rolling, which was fixed for Spirit Tracks).
New and old items get a innovative way to use thanks to the Stylus based controls, such as drawing a path for a Bombchu to follow.
Also, another important and cool feature added thanks to the Stylus is the writing on maps, to take note of hints, or to mark important things required to solve puzzles.
The graphics are just as cute as they were in Wind Waker, using the same Toon Link style. Sound effects and music don't fall behind either.
On the bad side, the game has a dungeon called Temple of the Ocean King, which has a time limit, and resets every time the palyer leaves it. Its required to come in, because each time the player ventures in it with a new item, he/she can delve further in, to find a new piece of sea chart to explore new places outside and reach the next dungeon. The good thing is that every new item allows for a shortcut on the previously visited floors, this way the "re-exploring" of floors is shorter, but its still annoying to have to see the same exact place between every temple done.
Closing this, the game is awesome, and a must have for any DS owner... or 3DS owner.

A good follow up to wind waker
I am happy to see that the universe described in "The wind waker" has been put to use in a new Zelda game.
The graphics are good enough (especially during boss battles) and the control scheme works well (except for the roll). The new items are well thought and adapted to the touch screen.
I also have to say that unlike many people I enjoyed the central dungeon, which isn't that repetitive since new items let you get to hidden chests and shortcuts on the floors you have already played.
Overall, I preferred this game to its sequel (spirit tracks). I just wish the story was a little longer.

A nice ARPG for the handheld
I was looking for a nice action RPG aside from Falcom's Ys series.
At first I was skeptical of the stylus control system with no way of turning it off but to my surprise, the game controls really well and boss fights feel intense enough.
The last Zelda I played was A Link to the Past. More than a decade later, Phantom Hourglass still plays like a Zelda, which is good.
I must say, bushwhacking for rupees is still as addictive X)

Good Game to Buy Imported
This game has good graphics (for DS) and solid gameplay. It forces you to use the touchscreen for movement which I found slightly annoying, I would have preferred the option to use the buttons.
Furigana is available for all Kanji so this is a really good game to buy if you're not great at reading Japanese (like me).
