The story began in Midgar, city of mako, where a corporate superpower known as Shinra used its monopoly of mako energy to dominate all aspects of life, securing political power in the process. Shinras mako reactors dotted in the city, harvesting the energy and converting it to a viable source of power.
However, mako energy was not the wellspring of happiness Shinra claimed it to be, but rather the vitality of the planet itself, the source of all life. Some began to realize: If we let this continue, the planet will die. These individuals set up an anti-Shina organization called Avalanche, and began resistance efforts using guerilla tactics.
Finally, Avalanche decided to blow up one of the mako reactors. Among the members chosen for the mission was Cloud Strife, a former member of Shinras elite guard, SOLDIER.
Cloud showed no emotion and was bound by no principles; he was an ex-SOLDIER and a merc, and there was nothing more to be said. The reactor strike awoke in Cloud the need to confront the holes in his past and his very reasons for being. And that journey, perhaps took the heaviest toll...
Two years have passed...
Though Midgar, city of mako, city of prosperity, has been reduced to ruins, the people slowly but steadily walk the road to reconstruction.
However, a mysterious illness called geostigma torments them.
With no cure in sight, it brings death to the afflicted, one after another, robbing the people of their fledgling hope.
And so Cloud, who walked away from the life of a hero to live in solitude, must step forward yet again.
MUST WATCH the graphic of the movie is super awesome, so realistic and all the character look so cool - the gals looks pretty and the guys looks hot as!

Gorgeous and jaw dropping This is one of the most stunning CGI films I have ever seen. Though I am new to the Final Fantasy universe, this film made me fall fast in love with it and the characters although the plot is somewhat confusing, especially if you haven't played the games. The characters were amazing and beautiful, especially Cloud, Tifa, Reno, Vincent and Sephiroth. The fight sequences dominate the storyline but they are amazing fights, and Cloud's weapon is utilized to the best effect. The soundtrack is beautiful as well. I definately recommend this film.

Watch this!! I originaly watched this in Japanese and, while I hold extreme contempt for most American voice actors, am egarly awating this in American!
The graphics and lighting are to DIE for. The beleivability of this movie is way up there.
I'm glad this CG Movie wasn't so off the original game. I was also pleased to see the entire 'good guy' side brought back in, if only for a bit, and quite a few of the not-so-good-guys...
This has to be one of the best CG movies I've ever seen.
And that's throwing in FF: Spirits Within in the mix.

A breakthrough in 3D Animation Seriously the characters are so realistic that I got glued onto the movie to observe carefully. I never play FF7 before but I will play it one day. It also contains Battle OST! Do get one and you won't regret.
My favorite Movie! This was my favorite movie of all time this addtion Isn't as Great as the Special Edtion But I can't afford that one because im on a tight budget. But this is the best movie EVER!!
The best no matter what This movie is by far the best action/fantasy movie i have ever seen it has had the most action i've ever seen aswell if only there were more final fantasy movies like this then square-enix would make a killing if you haven't seen this i sugest you do! Not To Shabby Sigh, ok, let's get things on the right track. First, it is one of the best computer animated movies ive seen in a while, but other then that, wasnt that good of a movie. If you want to watch a movie just because of the action, by all means, watch it. BUT, if you wanted something with an actual storyline...look elseware

Go. Get. This. Movie! Wow. Absolutely fantastic! If you (like most of us) love FFVII, you better get this movie now, right away! It is stunning. You'll gasp of joy every time you see this movie!
But make sure you have beaten the game beforehand, 'cause if you do, you'll enjoy it even more! And there are some few things which may appear cloudy if you haven't beaten the game...
I love this film, I truly do!
And by buying this title, you will as well!

Viele bekannte Elemente und Charaktere wie Substanzen, Spezialangriffe(Limit), alte Bekannte wie Cloud, Tifa, Vincent, Barret,...und ...und.
Aber den Film sollten nur die gucken die das Spiel gespielt haben, sonst werden sie nicht verstehen was dort abgeht!

The best animated movie This is the best animated movie that I have ever seen. After the failure of final fantasy:spirit within I've waited for this for a very long time. They have spent 2 years making and I have to say-its above my expectation. There has been nothing like this and It would be very foolish to miss this movie-even if you're not ff fan or havent played ffVII I can guarentee that this would still be very enjoyable.

Unacceptable extra-less version! Nice movie, awesome screenplay, cool battles , neat action scenes but no extra features for this version!!!!!!
In other words if you want to have the extra DVD with the making-of & the interviews, you have to buy Advent Pieces : Limited box which very expensive & is history at the time I'm writing this text!!! Hence 4 stars for this version!

It was worth the wait The highly anticipated CG movie sequel to the BEST Final Fantasy iteration in the series was worth every seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks months, and a year of waiting. The movie is faithful to the game and the way it presented things such as Materia junction and Summon Beast is just but of plainly amazing. The mystery between Cloud's bunch of swords and where he keeps it is also well presented. Along with a good continuation of the story and the fantastic voice acting as well fluid smooth motion captured animation of highly-detailed 3D models makes this DVD a must have for every Final Fantasy Fan. Square-Enix did a great job, far from Square pictures' Spirits Within, Advent Children lived up to the hype and gave the Final Fantasy franchise the respect and justice it truly deserves... I just wonder where all the chocobos have gone to???? FF7AC ROCKS!!!
Lives up to the hype and then some I had hi hopes for this masterpiece, but, Advent children far surpassed them. There are actually people out there that somehow do not like this film. They just must not be up to speed with something so great. Get it today you will NOT be dissappointed.

Pretty good movie. I wouldn't call it the best thing Square ever made, and I wouldn't call it the deepest or most compelling movie ever or anything, but it's got its funny points, it's definitely got its action value... overall it's a good watch.
At the current price I might say it's better to wait for a US release, though.
It's AMAZING I was upset that the movie wasn't released in the US on the original date (sept 13) but i fortunately did find a way to get it and ... It was SO AMAZING... Anyone who has played the game will love this movie.. The graphics were outstanding, the fight scenes were unbelieveable and the plot was great!..

I cried at the end! It was sooo beautiful... This movie was fantastic! Everything was in THX so it sounded and looked beautiful! This is by far the best DVD I own. It was worth every penny I spent! But warning this movie is for the fans only! People that have never played the game will not understand what is going on.
A new era rising absoluty fabulous ,a perfection this movie is so great, and to see cloud , sephiroth and the other in this adventure it s to good.

This makes up for The Spirits Within'! That's right, they've done it correctly this time! Square Enix has fixed their mistakes and it shows us why Final Fantasy belongs in Japan! But... does it have English subtitles?
Fans of the game will not be dissappointed The visuals are incredible and the action scenes are second to none, nothing comes close really. BUY BUY BUY!!!
