Pump It Up EXCEED Portable His menus are somewhat confusing, despite a good soundtrack!

No title Frustrating difficulty and a poor selection of songs that fail to get anyone excited.
Still, nice presentation, and it was dirt cheap.
EngKiT(40) on 24, Oct. 2009 02:19 (HKT)
cheap, fun, play~ oh well, already sold out... haha, lucky i got this in last stock.
not so good as DDR as DJ Max, but atleast it's cheap, so just play ~ !
bluee65(1) on 15, Oct. 2009 09:09 (HKT)
Cheap, Akward, but Fun I have played this version in the arcade AND for xbox. At least with the xbox ver you can turn the controller sideways to make it a little easier, but the PSP doesnt allow this. Controls take getting used to and the song selection menu is clunky and lags horribly which eats away at the time you have to select a song. This time constraint option cannot be changed and this might prove frustrating to newcomers to the PIU series. Still, the price is very right and the majority of the songs are good. If you enjoy ddr, give the international fifth dancing stage a try.

At Least It Was Free I can't say this game is worth playing on a PSP. To get the full Pump It Up experience, I prefer playing on a regular TV at home with the dance mat, or even better, playing at the arcade. That being said, hooking it up to a TV is highly recommended.
If you already own this game on the PS2, you don't need to bother with this, as it's the exact same thing.
Jun(6) on 14, Oct. 2009 11:52 (HKT)
Hmm Its fun, but i have had it freeze up on me a few times (which non of my other PSP games have done), that and the controls are kind of annoying at times. The music is pretty catchy though
Mat is good Well, mat is good, works perfectly, even through ps2-usb converter. My stster plays Exceed, while I use it mostly for PumpMania and Stepmania.
litchichan(2) on 22, Sep. 2009 09:45 (HKT)
It Was Free, Though... The menu system is clunky, and it felt like no changes were made from the arcade version. They didn't even optimize the song selection system for the PSP.
The songs are kinda lame; there are a few mainstream ones though.
phreak97(3) on 13, Sep. 2009 09:27 (HKT)
Great for the price! This seems to be a direct port of the arcade game with few changes.
This version of pump it us is quite difficult to use the menus, but once you work it out it It's pretty good.
PIU Zero is better, but this is far cheaper.
A great bonus game or cheap extra for your shopping cart.

it was alright took a while to figure out how to play the game.. a bit different than DDR on the ps

Port It Up! Die hard fans of PIU arcade and games like DDR should definitely pick this game up. With a great soundtrack and hours of gameplay in your pocket, it's one rhythm game that's worth picking up!
A word of advice - PIU Exceed Portable lacks an auto-save feature, so make sure you save your progress! A small learning curve on the controls, but like any rhythm game - after a few hours of battling the buttons, you'll find yourself losing hours of yuor day.

Amazing songs Fantastic game with amazing songs, perfect for a portable device as it can be played for either 5 minutes or several hours! If you enjoy music game, at this price you'd be CRAZY not to buy it!

most of good stuffs and few bad things Good: If you ever played Pump in arcade, you will love this version. It has lots of famous and favorite songs from arcade. You can feel just like arcade. And Fast loading!!!
Bad:game came out in 2006 and several stuffs should've in game system.
1.There is no autosave. Everytime you play game, you have to save manually. that bothers me alot.
2.When you wanna put secret code, you have to use L and R triger or it won't work. It didn't explain in manual booklet.
If you love rythem action game, you will love this game, but!! before you play game, go to option and change language that you want. It default as Korean.

Good Game! I bought this game for $8.90 when it was a weekly special. The game itself just arrived today, but that has nothing to do with the quality of the game. The game rocks. It has great music and great gameplay. The only bad thing that I have found in this game is the controls and the load times. The controls are difficult to get used to. But once you get used to it, it is worth it. The load times were pretty bad on my PSP. I don't know if that has anything to do with the age of my PSP, because I clean the lens once a month, or if it has anything to do with the fact that it is modded. Either way, the game is great and is a must buy for any gamer who enjoys rhythm games.

Amazing!, i also buy the skin, i have a question for other gamers: I have a question for the other gamers, i don't know korean, but when i enter on piupsp.com to enter my ranking i need to sing in up first, someboday can translate me in order what said's the register page?, and if someone know what is the content of the Donwload Section? thanks, this game is amazing, and i just have to unlock "We don't Stop"

PIU Portable, the best well-made PSP Game, so far!! I occassionally picked up this title on Play-asia.com.
And I have played this game for over 20 hours since last holiday.
I promise that his game won't never disappointed you.
So perfect rhythm game!! C ya in the on-line raking sute!
philipp.lesmana(1) on 24, Dec. 2006 03:54 (HKT)
Not bad For those who owns DJmax and loves it, here is a quick comparison :
- Controls are definitely more complicated and will take some / a lot / of practice. A lot of arrows are mapped to more than 1 button to enable pressing 2-3 arrows at the same time. So you need to *know* which are the buttons being mapped for a certain arrow.
- Songs are great...i love em!
- This is not DJmax, pressing / not pressing a button does not change the song. the song goes on, whether you managed to press the button or not. When your life is out, game is over.
- arrows are not as forgiving as djmax - Its either perfect, or good, and if you dont know your rhythim, most likely than not you will miss.
A good game overall.

Why Don't U pumping This!!! So shocked for playing at the first time!
What a smart idea on key mappping for PSP!!
All the music entry is perfect for me as a rhythm game prefer user.
I'll buy another for my girlfriend! Thanks Andamiro!!
Kahru Serizawa on 03, Dec. 2006 10:54 (HKT)
This is awesome I must say, I was overall surprised that Andamiro went through with this. And it looks like it turned out excellent!
It'll put those buttons on your PSP to work once you begin the "Crazy" category of difficulty.
A must have for PSP.
Hiyosi on 01, Dec. 2006 13:18 (HKT)
Amazing Rhythm Game for PSP! First of all, I shocked of hearing the music inside, up to almost 100 songs.
There was a typoon rated hit label of south-american, or north, even though k-pop.
Control system was really comportable for PSP, and 4 game modes with variety of level Item.
Unlocking the specific hidden songs are a little bit something struggle.
I recommend this title as the up comming hit label for PSP!!
Pump it Up Rock THIS IS A COOL GAME TO PLAY. I SOMETIMES PLAYED IT TO LOOSE SOME WEIGHT. I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THAT. AT LEAST THERE ARE NO HOLES IN THE MAT, WITH DDR, YOU GET HOLES. I TAPED THEM, DID NOTHING AT ALL. THE BOX SAID THAT THE MAT GLOWS IN THE DARK WHEN IT DOES NOT. WHERE THE CORD STARTS ON THE MAT, THE THING THAT IT COMES OUT OF, THAT IS THE ONLY PLACE IT LIKEGHTS UP WHEN YOU STEP ON AN ARROW!! BESIDES, WHEN YOU ARE NOT ON THE MAT, THE MUSIC SELECTION SPINS BY ITSELF, EVEN WHEN YOU DO RANDOM!! PUMP IT UP MATS DON'T MOVE, SO WHY DOES DDR MOVE???? PUMP IT UP ROCK!!
I WONDER WHEN PUMP IT UP EXCEED 2 COMES OUT?? I GUESS ANDAMIRO DID NOT DECIDE YET! LOL! WE ALL KNOW IT WILL COME OUT IN JAPAN FIRST BECAUSE THAT IS WHERE THEY MAKE THEM. I WANT IT ON AMERICAN VERSION, I ALREADY HAVE NUMBER ONE ON AMERICAN VERSION, LWC= Like Who Cares!! bUT I REALLY WANT TO TRY THE SECOND VERSION OF PUMP IT UP. IT IS IN ARCADES, BRING IT OUT ON PLAYSTATION SOON!!!! PUMP IT UP ROCK!!
wow babe OMG WHAT A A GAME !!!!!!!!
IT S SO FUN THAT I DIDMT GO TO MY FRIENDS PARTY EVRY NIGHT AND DAy !!!!!!
I LOST 4POUNDS IN A WEEK CUZ MY MAMA WANT TO LOOOSE WIEGHT SO IF U R WANDERING IF IT A BIT TO HARD OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT UR TOTALLY WRONG ITS MUCH BETTER THAN DDR REALY HONEST !!!!!!
THIS GAME ROCKS !!!!!!!!!!!
EXCEED PUMP IT UP EXCEED IS ONE ONE OF THE BEST GAMES I HAVE EVER PLAYED!!!! IT IS REALY AWSOME!!!! AT LEAST THE MAT IS NOT THAT MOVABLE. DDR MATS SLIDE ALL OVER THE PLACE. I WAS DOING DDR ONE DAY, ON HOLES GOT INTO IT. SAME THING ON ANOTHER DAY. THAT MAT HAS THREE HOLES IN IT AND I DON'T LIKE HOW IT SLIDES AROUND.
WOW! What a game! This is much better than DDR in my opinion. The diagonal steps offer much natural movement. The only bad thing is that it might be difficult for some.
Pump it up:Exceed This is the best game ever. I though that it wasn't better than DDR but it is so easy to play and the songs are way better than the ones on DDR. I think that this game should be played by everyone in the world. This game deserves 10 stars!!!!!!!!!!
Exceed IS GREAT I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL PUMP IT UP EXCEED 2 COMES OUT. I WONDER IF IT WILL BE BETTER THEN PUMP IT UP EXCEED?(ORIGINAL VERSION PIU)
WE WILL ALL FIND OUT (MAYBE) SOON.
ON DDR, ON THE SECOND SONG, I START BREAKING OUT A SWEAT BECAUSE IT IS SO FAST. THAT IS BECAUSE OF THE SELECT OPTION WHERE YOU CAN CHANGE THE SETTINGS OF WHAT YOU WANT. AND AFTER THE THIRD TIME I PLAY PIU, I DON'T MUCH FEEL THAT TIRE AT ALL.
I PLAYED PUMP IT UP THE PREX 3 IN THE ARCADE AND I REALLY STUNK AT IT. BUT THE SECOND TIME I PLAYED IT, I GOT EVEN BETTER AT IT.
THIS IS A REALLY GOOD GAME. AND I LIKE HOW THE ARROWS ARE DIFFERENT THEN THE USUAL UP AND DOWM ARROWS. I DO LIKE PIU AND DDR.
MAKE PUMP IT UP EXCEED FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PUMP IT UP EXCEED EXCEEDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pump It Up Exceed Exceeds I THINK THAT BANYA HAS SOME OF THE BEST SONGS THEN THE OTHERS. ALOT OF HER SONGS I DO LIKE. THIS GAME DOES HAVE MORE SONGS THEN DDR. TRY THEM BOTHE AND MAYBE TO YOU, THEY WILL (PROBABLY) BE THE SAME
WORKS FINE WITH HDADVANCE ON PAL PS2 thanks to play-asia for their reliable service's i got my pump exceed game on the 4th day via ups and love it.
I am located in australia we dont have much ddr or dance games in general here so this site is very helpfull
THANKS once again to the play-asia team
Great game, and high quality mat I was going to wait for the US version of this game to come out, but after the release date was pushed from May to June, and then to August, all within 4 weeks, I decided to buy the Korean version. I'm glad I did.
I don't know why the box came looking like it was kicked around in a bed of jagged rocks, but it's okay, because the game and mat still work fine, and it's probably not PlayAsia's fault. This is definitely the best game ever. Not just best dancing game, but best game period. Not only is the game's interface awe-inspiring, but the mat is the highest quality I've ever seen bundled with a dance game. Even on carpet, it really does not slide at all on moderate songs, and only slightly on songs like Dignity on Crazy mode. The song selection is even better than DDR as well. You probably won't like every song, but you will at least like some.
This game deserves higher than the five stars I'm limited to. If you are a fan of any music game, give this one a shot, and I'm sure you will love it.
And a note to English speakers: The game lets you switch the language to English on the Options screen. But you probably won't even need to; it's pretty easy to find your way around the menus.
the GRATEST of all My favorite songs:foxylady,oliver-flamenco,de ja vu,canon-d-part of a memory, and come to me(banya channel).those was soo cooool,n I juz wanna play PIU all the time:> N THE BEST MODE 4 ME ARE HARD,CRAZIE,FREESTYLE,N NIGHTMARE. Exactly, piu IS the most interesting dance simulation game, Beat the ddr. NO DOUBT,5-stars from me........:)
Its so coooool! I just bought Pump it up and it was crazy. The songs were great! It took me a little bit to learn the new steps in two days i was already having so much fun. DDR was cool, but now when I saw Pump It up, it was way better than DDR. DDR is mostly fast techno music and Pump it up is slow paced and you can feel the difference. Plus in Pump It Up the cool dance floor has five steps. This feature let me have more leg space. In DDR I felt cramp with the up, down, left, right floor. Now I am a straight up pump it up fan. I guarentee you will like it too.
feelin' it Recently I went to the arcade and thought "what is this game?" i gave it a try and now i'm hooked.I find myself dancing even when i'm completely out of breath! The most important thing is this game brings up the fact about all kinds of music. No matter who you are PIU will touch your soul.
A great change of pace Being a longtime DDR player and a newly-turned ITG player, I went to PIU on a vacation with no DDR machines and plenty of PIU EX3 machines. I tried it out and found it to throw me for a loop. Although I could still step as fast and as accurate as Final Audition and Beat of the War wanted me to, there was a whole new series of techniques to master, and nearly all of my DDR techniques were made useless.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still a DDR fan through and through. However, I think PIU is great. It's definitely hard, with a great mix of music and a wide selection of songs and difficulties. I'm not saying that PIU is better or worse than DDR, because it's so different, but it's a good change of pace for old players looking for something new, or just a good game for anybody who likes dancing games.
COOL Its the best game i've ever played and the songs are the coolest! Plus my favorite song is included: Beethoven's Virus
PIU is the best and if u wanna go a step past ddr, PIU is the game for you!
Awesome This is definitely a refreshing change of pace from DDR. I don't think it's better or worse, but it's fun in it's own right. the song selection is pretty awesome. Pump makes an impressive home debut with alot of the popular songs, such as Dignity, Slam, the Final Audition series, and my personal favorite, Valenti by BoA! I wish DDR would do stuff like this for thier American ports. Also, the videos for the songs are really cool, too. In particular, the one for "What do you really want" Anyway, whether you're bored with DDR, looking for a change of pace, or are just a straight up dance game addict, this is definitely worth buying!
Amazing. I got this recently and I can't even stand to look at ddr anymore since this is so much better. I just sit and laugh at all my DDR friends, and wow them with the impressive visuals, great song variety, and fun steps.
The best The graphics, the musics and principally, the steps.
In this game you really dance, in DDR you just only step on arrowa you dont dance.
That s why i love PIU.
PIU is the best ever and forever
DDR Killer?? Sort of. For those of you who have been in the dark, Pump It Up is Korea's DDR. Even though I have not played the PS2 version. I have played the arcade version so chances are what I say can differ from what's real.
up to top (in other words for people who are atheltic and a basic amount of logic.)
while stringing up a massive combo that would make Simon's jaw drop. But unlike our buddy DDR, Pump It Up: Exceed's animations are all original. Also, for those of you out there who can DDR in a coma, PIU really takes it to the next level. Most of the songs in their crazy, even hard modes for some make Maxx Unlimited look like a slow love tango. To be able to do Nightmare mode on these songs will make you look like a dance god.
With all these good things for you to chew on, why would you use DDR for anything but a terrible doorstop. First of all I think you can't customize Pump It Up's steps so after you master Pump Me Amedeus and Dignity, the quest for best will be the only thing left. Second, DDR tends to have the mainstream dance hits and also has american music. Almost 70+ of PIU's songs are spanish or korean. Third, this game is virtually underground in arcades, every PIU game you see there are about 40 DDR in that area so it might be tough to be known when you finnaly are good. I'm still giving this game a 5 out of 5 because of great songs even though they make no sense and are anime all over (for the minority who hate anime.)
Great chalenge and one of the best things you spent 82 dollars on.
Pump it up exceed is the best! Well I played PIU and DDR and I think that PIU is the best dance simulation game!!
why??
ok.. The PIU music and graphic is too much better than the DDR,the PIU is my favorite game and for me ... it´s very cool and the best.
EXCEED AND DDR ARE ALIKE I DO HAVE DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION. AND IT IS LIKE EXCEED EVEN THOUGH I HAVE NOT TRIED IT YET BUT IT WILL BE THE SAME. AND I HAVE HEARD OF EXCEED 2 ALREADY ON THE INTERNET. BUT MAYBE EXCEED WILL BE 2 POINTS OR 1 WILL BE BETTER AS DDR. I HAVE TRIED ALL OF THE DANCE GAMES I HAVE SEEN. BUT I HAVE SEEN A PUMP IT UP GAME IN THE MOVIES. IN THE ARCADE. WELL MAYBE NOT ALL DANCE MACHINES. BUT THE PUMP IT UP I HAVE SAW WAS NOT WORKING OR IT WAS JUST TURNED OF FOR SOME REASON. IT SEEMS EVERY SINGLE DANCE MACHINE OF FOR PS2 IS THE SAME AS ANY OTHER DANCE GAME I HAVE SEEN EVER. BUT NOT EXCEED BECAUSE I HAVE NOT TRIED IT YET. EXCEED AND DDR ARE THE SAME EXCEPT FOR THE STEPS BECAUSE PUMP IT UP HAS STEPS ARE DIFFERENT. THEY ARE THE SAME.
Pump Exceeds Indeed! Unlike crappy DDR mixs this ones arcade perfect and more. Its graphically supirior to ddr in everyway. Also each song has is own real video untill ddrs crappy random loops. Welcome to the ultimate dancing platform. Forget about DDR, PIU is class ddr is trash. Plus look at the next DDR game, DDR with Mario..... That how pathetic ddr has become. 6/5 its better than arcade perfect.
I Have Not Tried It Yet But I hear It Is Good I have not played it yet and I want it so badly and I hear it is good. But the best one I like until I get EXCEED is DDR Max Dance Dance Revolution. I have looked all over the internet and finding this game for ps2. I think it looks really, really cool. And at leats the arrows are different from DDR. I love all dance machines that I see and do everywhere I go. I kinda of think Tecno Motion is not that good. I don't think you have heard of it. Maybe IF I do get it, it will seem the same as DDR. Just to let you know, I have all three of DDr. DDRMax 1 and 2 and DDR Extreme. I really want Pump It Up EXCEED. I REALLY do want it.
Awesome. The pad is ALOT better than the official konami pads. It doesnt slide, it seems quieter and it is very sensitive. Before i got this game i had only played Pump in an arcade that takes me over an hour to get to, so i did not get to play much at all. I fell in love with it though and had to buy it. It has all of my favourite songs on it. They didnt skimp on the songlist like Konami seems to do with each DDR mix. *thumbs up* Good stuff!
Come on DDR Players OK i have to admit that Pump It Up is a very good game and i did buy it. But dont be hating on DDR and for most of you DDR players this is where you started. Pump It Up is good but not as good as DDR and i know most of your DDR Freaks know that.
Perfect For Home i was a bit skeptical at first when ordering mine, i am a regular piu player where i go and i was wondering how the hell a soft mat would get you through the nightmares of crash and pump me ameadus but upon recieving it and setting it up i realised that it has a different material on the bottom , stopping it from moving whatsoever, it is the best soft mat in my opinion for anything.
now for the game
it has over 100 songs apparently so thats a plus,
you DONT have to have stage break on thats also a +
it has an event mode and also they dont clutter the screen up with needless displays ++
No Unlocks -
not much to do except play the songs which is ok but wont keep many people playing it for a long while -
if your new to piu this is the only way to go for practice but most veterans would get bored after a while
all in all i give it 5 stars seperatly i would say
DDR Killer ! this game is 200% pure fun & dance :)
I had already the PC version but playing it on PS2 is so awesome and joyfull ! if you have 2 pads, you can enjoy full mode play, wich is more challenging and dancing !
Ur guna quit ddr ^^ finally Pump It up is on a consol now more people will start to play pump ^^;; game is great i love it i love it but cant wait till pump it up exceed 2 comes out! it has like 120+ songs....but exceed 1 is good! 1 bad thing about this game though...it isnt metal =( pump is way better with the metal pad. overall this game is the best!! way better then DDR
The Final Nail in DDR's Coffin! This is trully the innovator in dance simulation. Though not backed by such a powerhouse in console and home gaming such as Konami, Andamiro has clearly made its mark in the world of sims. I nearly mastered DDR in less than 2 years and am still working on a third of pump it up's songlist after 3 + years of play. The diagonal orientation allows for a more natural fluid dance motion, more complicated and coherent step combinations its almost a steal at its current price. PLEASE NOTE THE BOX'S SONGLIST IS INCORRECT!! The following songs listed on the box are not included but have been replaced: "Burning Krypt", "Can You Feel Dis or Dat?", "DJ's Nightmare", "Get the Party Started", "You Dont Wanna Run Up", "Betrayer", "Lovething", "Monkey Magic", and "Space Fantasy". Pump is definately a great purchase unless you prefer recycled Konami songs with a new Mix title. Move over Naoki Maeda, BanYa just handed you your pink slip!
It's worth it There are only two things that this game lacks: an announcer to cheer you on and say things like, "you're doing pretty good", [some people might think that's a plus but I feel a little lonely with no announcer]. I also wish there was a metal pad so I could wear shoes when I dance. Other than those two things, the game is fantastic and worth getting.
AMAZINGG same platform as arcade version. been playing ddr for 2 years and not that i got this and have a D&B near me in quitting ddr and moving to this. much more dance like with great music. PLEASE MAKE A METAL PAD tho (that would be sweeeet)
Awesome Dance Game. This is an awesome dance game. This is especially fun if you've had experience playing DDR, as it's essentially the same game but you have one more button to push.
The songs are awesome and the steps are quite fun; you must buy this now.
Move over DDR... PIU is the new king ! This game is amazing...
I have played DDR for 4 years - and this is the game to break that habit...
So many great songs - and the mat is of high quality and very precise. This is by far the best game I have bought from Play Asia so far !
Only buy if you've played it at the arcade... I've only seen my friends play it, and I expected it to be much more... I dunno... dance-y... like ddr. But the music is much slower and relaxed, not pumping or anything like ddr. Try before you buy, I wish I had ^^;
just great !! i like DDR of course and was playing the festival one a few days ago (not as good as the extreme)
and now that i got myPIU i think i wont be able to play DDR for some time !! i think its far better to play with the PIU dance controller !!!
songs are awesome !! background animation are really high quality too !!! i hope andamiro is gonna make some more PIU for ps2 when ill be done with this one ;)
Bye bye DDR! I got this game, and the only problem is that i can't stop playing it, I like this game much more than DDR, not only becouse of the songs but the arrow system with colours, upper arrows red and lower arrows blue and the centre button yellow, GREAT GAME you definitely have to buy this game!
FINALLY!!! this game is GREAT!!! a must buy!!!!! i mean come on 100 songs!!! [(prefer it highly over ddr i think its more fun)(not saying ddr is bad tho)]
YES! I am so glad that Pump It UP is out for Playstation. I already ordered it and i am now waiting for it to come in. I am a big ddr fan so if you like ddr you will like this!!
