description
The lone fairy Etos wandered around the world, in search for his friends. However, after long long time of journeying, still, none of his friends were to be found.
And slowly, the fairy lost his power. Appearing before the weakening fairy was a mysterious woman named Norun. In return for her nursing and kindness, Etos took over the responsibility of her two charges Duos and Meru as a surrogate parent.
Life was peaceful, Etos was a wonderful parent figure if not over-protective. However, one day, when the children reached 13, Norun's messenger appeared to inform Etos that the two children are born with the power of Narikiri- they are people who acquire skills just by dressing in the costumes of a certain job class.
Become one of the children and use your powers to help others and adventure in this great big world. Besides the Narikiri game, the disc also comes with Tales of Phantasia X edition - a re-release of the 2006 portable version with an updated battle system.

Tales of Remake
Right away, I want to say that this is one of the more enjoyable of the portable Tales games. I never played the original Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon, so I unfortunately cannot compare it to the original. While I don't know whether or not this game is faithful to the original, I can at least say for certain that I had a lot of fun with this one.
The gameplay is similar to most other Tales games. The battle system is like the earlier games, where you are restricted to a single 2D axis. But that doesn't stop the battles from being exciting and fast-paced. I really got into the battle system and had a lot fun stringing together long combos. As for exploration, it is not as expanse as other Tales games because there is no World Map, but that doesn't bother me. It gets straight to the point with dungeons and towns.
Narikiri Dungeon X doesn't disappoint in terms of visuals. This is probably one of the better looking portable Tales games. The sprites are so crisp and detailed and the colors are bright. The battle animations are fluent and the game runs at a smooth framerate. This game is truly a visual treat.
Tales fans probably already know what to expect in terms of music. There are some great Sakuraba Motoi tracks in this game. I don't know if some of them are remixes from the original game, but regardless, they are just as much of a treat to the ears as this game is to the eyes.
Narikiri Dungeon X as of now is probably my favorite out of the portable Tales games. It really kept me hooked throughout the entirety of the game and I really sat down with it just like I would with a game on a home console. And the addition of the Tales of Phantasia remake makes this game even more worthwhile. Tales fans should definitely check out this release.

Good bargain..
Finally...a 2 in 1 tales of phantasia game for a great price! The narikiri X is colouful with great music. Great to be able to see all the past characters back in action. Nice job system as well which requires careful planning before entering into battles.
However, story too short and not as memorable as compared to its predecessor.
Nonetheless, still a great game!
