description
The internal design architecture of the new PS3 system, from the main semiconductors and power supply unit to the cooling mechanism, has been completely redesigned, achieving a much slimmer and lighter body. Compared to the very first PS3 model with 60GB HDD, the internal volume as well as its thickness and weight are trimmed down to approximately two-thirds. Furthermore, power consumption is also cut to two-thirds, helping to reduce fan noise. While inheriting the sleek curved body design of the original model, the form factor of the new PS3 system features a new meticulous design with textured surface finish, giving an all new impression and a casual look. With the compact body and casual appearance, the newly introduced model will appeal to a wider audience who are looking to buy the best entertainment system for their home.
PS3 combines state-of-the-art technologies featuring Cell, a processor jointly developed by IBM, Sony Group and Toshiba Corporation, graphics processor (RSX) codeveloped by NVIDIA Corporation and SCEI, and XDR memory developed by Rambus Inc. It also adopts BD-ROM (Blu-ray Disc ROM) with maximum storage capacity of 54 GB (dual layer) , enabling delivery of entertainment content in full high-definition (HD) quality, under a secure environment made possible through the most advanced copyright protection technology. To match the accelerating convergence of digital consumer electronics and computer technology, PS3 supports high quality display in resolution of 1080p as standard, which is far superior to 720p/1080i.
With an overwhelming computing power of 2 teraflops, entirely new graphical expressions that have never been seen before will become possible. In games, not only will movement of characters and objects be far more refined and realistic, but landscapes and virtual worlds can also be rendered in real-time, thereby elevating the freedom of graphics expression to levels not experienced in the past. Gamers will literally be able to dive into the realistic world seen in large screen movies and experience the excitement in real-time.
*Based on our tests conducted so far, all PlayStation3 games appear to be region free.

Beautiful system
I can't be happier with this purchase, which is my first FF console ever. As an FFXIII fan, it just feels really great to have one of this system to play on. The console itself looks just like in the picture, a total beauty. Super glad that it has Lightning too, probably the main reason why I just had to get one. Thanks to Play-Asia for its fast shipping and great packing, I received it just in time for Christmas.

Very good system, much better than the first version. Great color!
This Playstation is actually a good system. These things used to overheat on a regular basis, but mine is doing just fine. The red color just makes it stand out and looks amazing.
Here is one major importance. You can set this system up for any region you want! For the initial system setup, it asks you what country it is in, timezone, language, everything. I set mine up for the Americas because the download games were much better. It still plays Japanese DVD's and all region A blurays, not that I will ever own any. The controller is the same thing any PS fan is used to from 15 years ago. The controller also acts as a remote. Press the PS button and you can access your system and everything. It is like the HOME button on a Wii. This system takes any USB drive including flash drives and portable harddrives. I haven't looked for the SD card slot because that is a media I never use. You can customize the background, add music, turn off the PSP clicking noises on the menus. You can multitask similar to the Nintendo3DS.
The games are what the system is all about which is why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5. The system itself is amazing, but not too many good games. Out of the 300 games on this system, maybe 10 are appealing to me. I downloaded Megaman 9 and 10, X-Men Konami Arcade, Puzzle (something), and Tetris (no game collection is complete without this). I actually have Marvel VS Capcom 3 which wasn't that good. It's just another fighting game that didn't have Megaman. I also bought 3D Dot Game Heroes which is pretty cool. It is like Zelda NES where you can make your own character.
Bottom line, amazing system, not a lot of good games for it. I highly recommend the scarlet red PS3 system, it just stands out and looks so good!
