Item Description

The internal design architecture of the new PS3™ system, from the main semiconductors and power supply unit to the cooling mechanism, has been completely redesigned, achieving a much slimmer and lighter body. Compared to the very first PS3™ model with 60GB HDD, the internal volume as well as its thickness and weight are trimmed down to approximately two-thirds. Furthermore, power consumption is also cut to two-thirds, helping to reduce fan noise. While inheriting the sleek curved body design of the original model, the form factor of the new PS3™ system features a new meticulous design with textured surface finish, giving an all new impression and a casual look. With the compact body and casual appearance, the newly introduced model will appeal to a wider audience who are looking to buy the best entertainment system for their home. PS3™ combines state-of-the-art technologies featuring Cell, a processor jointly developed by IBM, Sony Group and Toshiba Corporation, graphics processor (RSX) codeveloped by NVIDIA Corporation and SCEI, and XDR memory developed by Rambus Inc. It also adopts BD-ROM (Blu-ray Disc ROM) with maximum storage capacity of 54 GB (dual layer) , enabling delivery of entertainment content in full high-definition (HD) quality, under a secure environment made possible through the most advanced copyright protection technology. To match the accelerating convergence of digital consumer electronics and computer technology, PS3™ supports high quality display in resolution of 1080p as standard, which is far superior to 720p/1080i. With an overwhelming computing power of 2 teraflops, entirely new graphical expressions that have never been seen before will become possible. In games, not only will movement of characters and objects be far more refined and realistic, but landscapes and virtual worlds can also be rendered in real-time, thereby elevating the freedom of graphics expression to levels not experienced in the past. Gamers will literally be able to dive into the realistic world seen in large screen movies and experience the excitement in real-time.

This limited edition console is amazing. Console looks amazing in white with Lightning on it. I was upgrading from an older launch model and don't regret it at all =).

The console looks great with a bigger disk space ! i owned an older generation console but sold it to buy this one and it was worth it !

the game was fun and enjoyable but it'll take you alittle bit of time to get used to the battle system but overall its fantastic !

Great Upgrade to the Console, Beautiful Special Edition
This is my second PS3 after having one of the original 80GB Backwards Compatible models (USA). I have to say I love the new form factor, the noise level is dramatically reduced, and the sheer beauty of this special edition console is unexplainable.

Some things of note:
Region 2 DVD Player (Importers Beware)

Region A Blu-Ray Player (Japan/USA/Asia)

True 1.3 HDMI Out over Blu-Ray meaning Bitstream Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master works compared to the FAT PS3's.

About the Game:
Only about 5% gets translated to English so be prepared to do a lot of research on the internet if you don't speak Japanese. The battle system is very good and the story seems like it's going somewhere I just don't know what's really going on. Will definitely buy the US version of this game when it releases separately.

WORTH IT!
So prices for this are pretty high but believe me they WILL increase over the next year when the game is released in NA and Europe.

The game itself is the new Final Fantasy VII, it has everything fans want, amazing story, characters (with ACTUAL character development unlike how lame XII's characters turned out to be), beautiful scenery, music and graphics... So naturally all items associated with it are going to skyrocket in value as they become harder to obtain, and this one will be one of the rarest.

Putting the sheer collector's value aside, the system itself is beautiful, Sony did an amazing job with the white matte design and pink etching (omg SO FABULOUS!!!! lol) plus it's 250GB, which in itself makes the system worth the extra bucks, especially if you are planning on playing FFXIV because it will undoubtedly take up some space as they release more expansions.

If you want Blu-Ray compatibility, make sure you get the JAPAN version 110V, NOT the Asia version 220V or else you'll be SOL. Careful when buying on eBay, many sellers fail to mention that... but you'll notice the price for the Asia version is about $100 cheaper. No DVD capability on either though... games will work fine :)

Seriously drop some money on this while you can! You won't regret it.
