Great game!
An excellent game! But once you're in the process of repeating certain stages for trophies, you realized the game is just one long interactive movie that you cannot skip, so it gets very slow and tedious. It is a great and beautiful game for the first playthrough.

It has all the Fahrenheit elements - Women have their shower, chase scene, mental image etc. I like that there's different possibilities and you wouldn't guess it, but it felt a bit too short.

The Move Edition is also equally great. The move sensors works great. A must have game for all PS3 owners.....

If you own PS3. This game is definitely must buy.
Also HR Move Ed include Taxidermist DLC on BD disc. So you don't have to connect to PSN to redeem code or download the DLC. But the Move features in this game is not good. The game is much better to play it with standard controller.

Rare story
This game compiles multiple life aspect around murder cases, from a reporter, a father, to crime detective. It's worth experiencing the whole storyline. Really recommended for PS3 owner.

Genre Defining Masterpiece
I got this from Play Asia and the service was excellent as usual.
The game it self offers a real genre defining experience. I have been gaming from the early 90s and this is one of those rare defining moments in my gaming history. I am still going through the game. So far it is epic.
The graphics, controls and the concept are all top notch. If I have any complaints, it is the occasional camera angle issues that I experienced but it is a minute detail that I don't bother about.
10/10 from me for this experience. It really is a solid game that any PS3 owner can be proud of. I really hope that this game goes multi platform because this game should be experienced by all.

I think David Cage and Quantic Dream have finally achieved what they were trying to do, but failed, with Indigo Prophecy. They have, in my opinion, crafted the first true "interactive novel" that maintains a high quality from start to finish. I definitely would like to see more games like this in the future.

Potential, but still a concept game at heart.

Even with the controls that can a be a pain sometimes (like getting stuck in the crowd) this game is amazing. One of those that is hard to take a break to continue later. For me, it deserves 5/5

Played the first couple of chapters and fell in love with this game....

Unique and interesting gameplay
Heavy rain's gameplay is truly unique and there aren't many games out there that plays like it. It's kind of like an interactive game. The outcome of the game as well as the ending also depends alot on the decisions made. A truly compelling and great game to play. Strongly recommend to all PS3 owners

Your actions change the way the story unfolds. The scenes are remarkably crafted and can move you one moment and shock you another. Some scenes are beautiful, some are sad, and others are absolutely grim. The use of the PS3 buttons adds to the feeling of doing something easy or difficult and the swing of certain fight scenes keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Whilst not a standard RPG I'm sure most fans of the genre would appreciate the scope of this game. The way your actions can change the outcome of the story really makes you want to replay the game just to see what might have happened instead.
The only disappointment I had with the game was the couple of times it froze leaving me having to reboot the PS3. One Of The Most Unique Games Of All Time!
It's one of the most unique games of all time! The game is pretty interesting and at the same time, relaxing. Graphics are Great! I really recommend this if you want to try out something different from the normal games eg. shooter, hack & slash,etc. genre.

The game has problems and not every scene works as intended due to graphical and acting limitations, but overall Heavy Rain is a moving and compelling experience that you need to try. I'd definitely recommend playing with the Move controller, too - not as immersive as Sony would like you to believe, but it's still great fun to waggle around!

Alluring characters, exciting storyline.
One of the best plots and most creative gameplay I've come across for a long time. The only downsides of the game are some facial expressions and animation limitations, as well as the controls, that not always are as accurate or as comprehensible as one would expect.

HR make very good use the motion controller of the PS3. A very interesting thriller (if you can overlook some plot holes).

This is the first game for me that has a story with a real impact. This is more of an interactive experience rather than a game in its traditional sense. Bear this in mind if you're looking into this title. However, for what it really is (interactive story telling) it is one of a kind! The story and acting are better than some movies out there.

If you're into criminal, thrillers and adventure - this interactive game/movie is for you. You haven't experinced anything like this
Pros: Everything about the game, too many to list. But the best things about the game:
Good replay value
Fantastic storyline
Nice cinematics
Gory and for adults only(can be a con too)

Interactive Masterpiece
This game is so much more that just a point and click adventure. It is a real interactive masterpiece. By the end of the game you will really feel connected to all the characters and the choices you make feel so much more important. I could not recommend this game anymore.

Great game
The control takes a bit getting use to but it's all very logical and clear. The graphics are really good, although there are a few weird glitches that'll happen along the way. It's a very short game, even though you're meant to play it many times it could take a bit longer to finish. The action scenes really keep you on the edge of your seat so that's good, but the exploration scenes could be a bit more complex. Overall, it's a pretty fun game and well worth buying.

This game won't be for everyone. Think of Heavy Rain as a hybrid of the movie Saw colliding into the TV series CSI. There are moments that can be emotional or downright put-the-controller-down-and-walk-away-from-the-game disturbing. The game could have simply been called "Heavy". Yet for the right audience the game has the power to hold one's attention and draws the player in to the ultimate conclusion. If anyone played Quantic Dream's previous game Indigo Prophecy then this one will be quite familiar yet darker in subject matter.
The basic controls of manipulating the characters through the gameplay is very fluid and makes for an immersive experience. However, I am not a fan of Quicktime Events (QTE) and found that in heavy action sequences some of the button combinations took my attention away from what was unfolding on the screen story-wise. There were even some situations where the control schemes required a contortionist to execute. I eventually had to dial the difficulty level down a notch to successfully make the QTE work favorably. Also, certain camera angles while moving the character caused disorientation and botched results. The subway and apartment fire scenarios come to mind.
While overall the 4 characters the player gets to control through the course of the game were interesting, listening to them was not so much. There were times the voices sounded disjointed or even a completely different actor's voice was used for the same character. At times it took away from the immersion.
The set pieces and environments were outstanding. Locations are believable and the ambient sounds and effects are top notch. There's plenty of variety in locations too so the player shouldn't find things too repetitive or tedious. Except perhaps for the incessant rainfall,
Not to divulge any spoilers, I will only say that the big reveal of who the Origami Killer turns out to be is a huge disappointment as well as being ludicrous since the player controls that character for a good part of the game. It was a poor decision by Quantic Dream to arch the story plot in the direction they chose. In my opinion there was a better obvious choice of who the killer could have been and that's who should have been used. This flaw alone is what prevents the game from a perfect score from me. I believe there are 8 or 9 possible endings but I think the killer identity is unchanging for each one.
Other flaws include graphical glitches (a disappearing Madison in one scene at the Doc's house, missing katana sword in Jayden's ARI video clue playback), and dumb moments such as in the corner store where the store owner just sits there with a knocked out thief lying on his floor. Call the cops, dude! But those are just quibbles and don't really detract from the overall game. Get through a chapter, digest and ponder what has just transpired for a few moments, and then forge ahead to the next chapter.
Otherwise, on the whole, I can highly recommend Heavy Rain to a gameplayer who'd like to experience more mature themes and a different way of playing through a story. Buy it or rent it but definitely don't miss out on a thrilling adventure!

Playing heavy rain was like reading a very good mystery novel. Once you are indulged in it u can never put it down, u want to know what happens next. Kept me at the edge of my seat till the end. Looking forward for more gamed like this from this developer.

This game merged the best of both worlds (the gaming and movie world). It has an amazing storyline (better than a lot of psychological thrillers out there), captivating characters, intense scenes, fun gameplay, and lots of possibilities. It may start off a little slow (and I still loved it), but it's the purpose of the game. It's not meant to be an action shooter, the focus is on its powerful story and characters. And it's a wonderful experience, it got me hooked from beginning to end.

Great Originality
A wonderfully original game with a gripping storyline.
The opening few chapters are a little slow, and playing through them a second or third time can be tedious. The game soon picks up however and is enjoyable throughout.

I really like Heavy Rain. The story is solid, the graphics are impeccable and the control/button mashing aspect is great. I found the game to be slow at times due to all the video sequences, but I as a gamer I tend to enjoy the puzzles as much as the action. The notion that anything you do could completely change the outcome of the game was great; I will be playing it again and choosing different routes to see where they take me.

It's a must-have game, since it's gameplay is just incredible! The story is so good that you feel like watching a movie, and not playing a game... and for the same reason, it isn't as addictive as Assassin's Creed 2, for an example. Anyway, it's definately worth the price!!

After I recieved this game (about 2 weeks later than advertised!) I couldnt stop playing it. It is very addictive and you get sucked into the story straight away. I completed it withing 2/3 days and I havent played it since. Apparently, there are a lot of different endings, But since finding out who the Origami Killer is, and that doesnt change, I havent felt the need to play it again. Maybe in the future I'll go through it again and play the game differently for a different ending. It is just like an interactive movie and the depth is incredible. Recommended

Great game overall
While this is not a perfect game, it does have the distinction of being one of the most unique gaming experiences I've had, and definitely has hands down the best looking characters and facial animations in a game to date.

Probably took some ideas out of Japanese's Eroge and such where you make choices and face consequences/rewards, but this game took that idea a few step forward, with making you carefully think about your choice instead of forcing you take choice because the they know the reward you want.
while you might face some minor bugs in the game, but that doesn't affect the gaming experiences at all.

Everything is good about this game... the graphics, sound...etc..
There is an unprecedented level of interaction here.
My only gripe is that while the controls are ok, the simplest action (i.e. walking) is too cumbersome, and the move detection controls don't feel as responsive as they should... otherwise this game deserves masterpiece status.

We have all wanted to know what it is like to play the lead of a movie. Well this game does just that throwing you into the lead roles of what I would call more of an interactive movie than a game.
Visually stunning, the game shows off the HD PS3 capabilities well. Controls are so simple that just about anyone could play.
My only complaint is about the length of the game. A little short for my liking however it has some replay value seeing what other directions might bring.
A great first attempt at a new genre and hopefully many more to come.

The game play put a lot of emphasis on the tension of the character, you can feel the character emotional state, feel their hesitation, and feel their desire. The story was really great for the first play through, but after the first play through, it lose its touch, spoiled, so I strongly recommend that you do not read any of the spoiler if you want to enjoy the game. Heavy Rain is a great piece of interactive cinema. You're tasked with solving the mystery of the Origami killer; a serial killer of children whose latest victim happens to be the son of one of the main characters.
The gameplay consists of following simple controller cues on screen whilst the action enfolds, and boy is the action great. Graphics are superb, voice acting is generally really good, and the story, whilst having significant plot holes, is a blast.
The only real complaint is the game is very short and very easy, even on the "hardest" difficulty setting. Be prepared to finish the game in around 6-8 hours the first time through. There are multiple endings to see (similar to Quantic Dream's previous title Fahrenheit), but that doesn't change the fact that you will see the bulk of the game in the same of a single intense gaming session. If the game's brevity doesn't concern you, then don't hesitate to get this excellent title.

The only real complaint is the game is very short and very easy, even on the "hardest" difficulty setting. Be prepared to finish the game in around 6-8 hours the first time through. There are multiple endings to see (similar to Quantic Dream's previous title Fahrenheit), but that doesn't change the fact that you will see the bulk of the game in the same of a single intense gaming session. If the game's brevity doesn't concern you, then don't hesitate to get this excellent title.

There is no doubt that this is a innovative game, that there is no similar experience on the market. On this note, it is easy to look over its flaws just because this is somewhat a new genre and it is understandable that even the creators aren't fully aware of the potentials and limits of the game.
Being more specific, the game is heavily focused on a story with multiple branches that dismiss the concept of "game over" and repetition. Because of this, the game sometimes is too forgiving and sometimes too harsh. You can fail a lot in some parts without affecting the outcome you desire and you can lose a character for failing on the wrong part.
The story also have holes and a good share of non-explanation.
Yet, as said, it is easy to really enjoy the game, even while noticing that something could click better, because if you're into this "interactive drama" thing, there is nowhere else to run.
Personally, I expect that this becomes a full genre and that lots and lots of games like this come out in the future.

Excellent Adventure game
If you have played Quantic Dream's last adventure game "Indigo Prophecy" or "Farenheit" as it was known in Europe, you would feel right at home w/ the control.
The game did a good job of making players feel like they are actually in that situation going thru the same emotion as the characters, the orchestral score is very epic and added another layer of depth.
For those who are getting the Jpn version, it has 2 audio tracks, Jpn and English, menu and text are in two languages as well, compared to the US version which has Eng, German, French, etc, but no Japanese. The Jpn dub was extremely well done like a Jpn dubbed hollywood movie, I had a lot of fun replaying the different scenarios and unlocking bonuses and trophies while listening to the game in a different language.
The mo-cap made all the characters in the game very life-like. This is one of the best looking and most unique games I have ever experienced, definitely not to be missed.

I think this game is the definition of interactive movie. I loved the atmosphere of this game, and the story is pretty good as well. I found the action sequences very entertaining. It kind of reminded me of Shenmue.

Heavy Rain is a mature game that adults will appreciate. You play from the perspective of 4 different people connected to a case of the origami killer.
Although the majority of the game is to press a button when prompted, those actions have heavy consequences and thinking before making a choice is important.
There are some dull scenes in the game where I thought the story was dragged on but for the most part it has a good story and a few twists and maybe a few plotholes as well.
Visually the characters and their expressions are top notch although the environments leave something to be desired. The music/score is excellent, which makes those tense moments race that heart rate abit more.
Overall a good game for the ps3, definitely one to pick up for mature gamers.

Who care who is origami killer. The more important issue is if you enjoy the gameplay or not? A very unusual and unique gameplay. A movie in which the storyline changes depending on your decisions on which button you choose. I remember in one of the scene where you play the FBI agent and your police partner was under threat and your decison on if to shoot the guy who is pointing the gun to him will make the story goes unexpectedly in different direction. The fact is that you are not just watching the movie but you are involved in the whole story and it gives you a replay value as there is different ways of story progresses and ends.

This game and, I do not put this lightly, is a masterpiece of gaming. Quantic Dreams have not created a game where everything is artificial, they've crafted a game where the characters are brimming with life. Right from the start Heavy Rain is like the very best of what thriller, detective and mystery books and movies have to offer, this game will grip you. This game is for the hardcore gamers and even the non-gamers out there, if you're looking for a mature, engaging and interesting game then look no further.
Plot
This is probably the hardest part to talk about, whatever I say plot-related will take some of the surprise out of this amazing story, so I'll keep it vague. You'll play the role of many characters but Ethan Mars is the main protagonist. He's a normal guy who works as an architect, he's got a wife, kids and a nice house. Soon into the game Heavy Rain sets it's dark and gritty theme, where Ethan is drawn into the world of the Origami Killer: a serial killer who leaves distinct and mysterious "calling cards" at the scene of every murder. It soon becomes a race against time for all those involved, the question is: who is the Origami Killer?
Gameplay
The game is predominantly made up of exploration and interaction. Before I mentioned the characters were brimming with life and they are, you are the characters, from the mundane normality of everyday life such as setting the table and taking a shower to the emotional extremes where your characters will break down, bleed and maybe even die, you'll be controlling it.
This is the best time to mention the unique controls of Heavy Rain, most of it is predominantly quick time events (for those not in the know: quick time events are where games prompt you to press a series of buttons to succeed) for those gamers who haven't died from shock from this bit of info, it's not as bad as it sounds. Yes, Heavy Rain is frustrating at times because of the QTE events but in a good way, in other games where you fail it's game over and you get to replay that part, if you fail in Heavy Rain you deal with the consequences because that's life. Heavy Rain is the definition of art imitating life, if you aren't fast enough to react you'll get hurt and if you don't think on your feet there are major ramifications.
Another thing to praise about this game is that it actually has real moral choices were you will be conflicted about what options to choose, Heavy Rain does not do the clear cut "moral choices" from most games where you know what's right and what's wrong. If you want replayability it's worth playing the game through again because you won't discover all the plot details, see every scenario, unlock all of the bonus content or even get all of the trophies first time through. There's also DLC (downloadable content) on the horizon which takes the form of episodic chapters which you can play through so you'll be playing Heavy Rain months later.

When your randomly exploring the detail and beauty of the game its awesome, and the cut scenes are even more detailed, they're sharp, they're lifelike and they're lovely to look at. In terms of the graphical quality definitely up there with the likes of Naughty Dog's Uncharted so you can't really go wrong.

Perfect game soundtrack; an emphatic and dramatic selection of music that fits all of the scenes perfectly. Yes it has the edgy killer type music, but it also has heroic themes, pulse-pounding action music and even club music in there.

This game has characters you actually care about. Trust me on this, when your characters in danger you'll be celebrating when they evade that knife or pull off that jump. If you haven't already bought it all I can say is at least try it, it'll surprise you.

Interactive Drama
If you're a PS3 owner, no matter what your gaming preferences, you would most likely find this game a gem.
Despite the initial getting used to the "sort of" poor movement controls, and the slow start, it builds up to a great involving story.
It's really worth it.

Amazing, thought provoking game
This is one of the very few games I've played that has made me care about my characters actions. I more than once openly cringed at something I had to do.
It starts off a bit slow, and that gets a bit annoying when you do second play throughs, but once it gets in to the action, it's great!
I highly reccommend this game, just because it's so different and has A LOT of replay value.

This sophomore effort from Quantic Dream is destined to be a rule-changer for console games, one that will herald the start of new era of cinematic gameplay. Playing this game is like watching a movie, except that you control the cast! It feels amazing and the story is so suspenseful that you WILL want to play it again just to see what would have happened had you made different decisions
