Fantastic game
This game cannot be found in HK stores but luckily I can order it through play asia at discount price. I enjoy it so much and it's reasonably priced for a full version including all dlc packs game.

Very nice fun!
The mechanism of the game reports to GTA, but with a different style, vintage. I liked it very much, however it can be boring after a couple hours. Nice for a change, worthy buy!

Mediocre game
An above average sandbox game, mainly driving cars and shooting guys. I enjoy for the first few hours but find it repetitive afterwards, luckily I got at weekly discount price.

Excellent story
If you're into mafia movies, you'll love the plot of this game. The voice acting also lends credibility.
Combat is fun and realistic, but slightly repetitive at times. There doesn't seem to be a wide array of enemy AI styles.
The game is an open sandbox, but there doesn't seem to be a lot to do in it besides hunt for collectible magazines and wanted posters. Perhaps adding some side/optional missions would have made it more interesting.
Overall a good story and a good game, but don't expect much beyond the main mission.

Love the seeting - New york in the 1950 and the graphics . but the length of the game from a single player perspective is way too short . overall loved the game and especially the playboy collection part ut would have preffered if the story was a little bit longer

A sandbox game without the wasteful bells and whistles is how I found my Mafia 2 experience. Gameplay-wise, Mafia 2 is very similar to GTA4. Similar controls and a slightly ropey camera when your character is indoors. The plot is tight, well written and acted. I felt engaged all the time I played the game. This sense of attachment is all the better for the game being linear, though some players may miss the silly side-missions of comparative titles like GTA and especially Saints Row.
Overall a very enjoyable title for anyone into mafia related media or third person action adventures.

people say it has a good story. I think its pretty cut and dry. Its about the mafia! surprise its a story about you becoming a made man and then things go wrong! The game wasn't bad, but I was a little bored. Near the end it got pretty cheap. Some guy I couldn't see would spray his Tommy Gun at me and one bullet would hit me and I would die instantly. You can get speeding tickets in this game which is just annoying. Its a GAME take some liberties with reality would you!! I don't play games to get speeding tickets. they are just as annoying in real life as they are in a game! took me 15 hours and I tried to race through it as quick as I could.

Mafia at its best!
Great story, great environment. You can spend hours playing it and always want to know what happens next. Very enjoyable. Too bad it was kinda short (about 8 hours).

Although some of the missions can be dull (drive here collect this then drive home), i found this game to be fantastic. the graphics are top notch and the overall presentation and time correct sets are spectacular. the story keeps me coming back for more, and the characters are well voiced and feel very believable. my only minor gripe with this is the shooting mechanic could do with some minor improvements, this doesn't stop the gameplay being great however, just room for small improvements.

My take on Mafia 2
It's is no GTAIV or Saint Row but the game is still entertaining as it's competitor. But with the price from PA, you should definitely get it and add it to your collection.

There are no side missions, no conveniently placed ramps, and only a small handful of collectibles that work in harmony with the fiction. The game successfully conjoures a peerless sense of time and place - the graphics are spot on and the ambience is priceless. Btw, the game is in full english despite the korean manual.

Beautifully realised fictional American city in the 40s and 50s, although the pretty sandbox is somewhat wasted as the story is quite linear and mostly you see the city from just driving from one point to the next. However, worth it for the atmosphere and compelling story.

Italian Feelings!
The nostalgic atmosphere of years 40/50, together with the stories of Italian families and organized crime in the United States becomes the perfect combination for a great sandbox game, and 2KGames did not disappoint and managed to make the best game in the genre so far. Good game
This is a good game, but unlike the previous one, there is no raoming around since you are always bounded to a mission. This game has a different style altogether from GTA/ Red dead redemption. the magazine is a definite plus point. get it!

I was exited for this. I rushed out to buy it and beat it in a short time. It does nothing new. I looks nice and plays ok. The driving is horrible. GTA3 has better driving mechanics than this. It's super short and leaves you wanting more. It isn't horrible, but I wouldn't buy it again. I couldn't even play it more than once. I sold it a week later to a friend.

This game gets good at start but kinda falls linear and boring in the middle and end though the story tries to hold up everything in which there's nothing much to do after finishing the game plus an anti-climatic ending. To summarize this paragraph "short and boring".
But if you have X-Box Live, get the DLCs that adds the side-story and gameplay more, that is spending another few points for stuff thats supposed to be on the game itself. "Joe's Adventure" is a great DLC itself whereas "Jimmy's Vendetta" is more of a chore. Summarize these as "Should've been in the game but making excuse for not enough time and squeezing more money out of you".

Got this when it was on discount and while I am glad I didn't pay full price for it, at the discounted price it was good value for money.
Enjoyed the game, but was a bit disappointed that the city wasn't 'used' more. What I mean is that the city looks great, but there is really no incentive to explore it. There are no side quests.
The story was pretty decent though.

Ended too fast
It follows the gta formula but comes way too short. Had fun with it. The cutscenes were the saving grace. Buy it only if you have spare cash around.

Great Mafia simulator

Yet another wonderful weekly bargain.So cheap.It's a Korean version anyway.The game is completely in English,just the manual and cover isn't. ASIA version is way better than US R1 version though when it comes to DLCs. Talk about ironic. Better get ASIA version.

The story that drives Mafia II is about as good as you will get in a video game. This game is worth a buy for the story alone, its just that damn good!
Its unfortunate that the shooting feels a little clunky at times, most of the missions will have you driving far too much and become repetitive as the campaign wears on.

Game is very REAL, with non impossible missions to be accomplished! Graphics are great. Sound and immersion factor are good. Controls are so so. Over all still work a play through.

I don't think there is much replay value here. The game itself is great, good storyline, immersion and the initial missions are interesting but as the game progresses, it becomes a bit repetitive. As others have noted, it would be good if you could make decisions that would alter the storyline, rather than just doing the 'setplays' the game offers. Really enjoy playing this game, great graphic and easy to control. although i dont like the view point. Generally speaking it is still good.
The downside of it is the story too short. only take me 20 hours to finish the game in hard mode. little bit disappointed.

Was shocked with amount of removed content from the game. For instance, during the game about 2-3 times you'll see a movie which shows to you how main character and his friend are playing without you. While enjoyable missions take place during the game to further the story, there really is no reason to explore the city. You can earn money, but it really doesn't mean anything in the game. There is no opportunity for you to carve a place in the city and so you always feel like an outsider going from point to point for the next part of the story since there are no side missions at all.
The story itself is well told although it would have been nice to have the option to make some important choices, like letting someone live or die, etc. Sadly, you are led by the hand the entire time taking away some of the enjoyment. It would have been nice to have the freedom of choice to decide which family you wanted to support. Ultimately, the story ends rather predictably and proves anti-climatic at best.

They created such an amazing and detailed city, which you dont get to explore because there is no reason to. There is no side missions or activities to do. The collectors edition is great though. It comes with a soundtrack of the game and a 100 page art book which is really nice to look at and see all their work.

The developers have done a great job making the world authentic and believable. The game is driven by a solid story. Not quite as good as GTA IV, but worth playing if you like story driven actions games

Story driven
If you enjoy stories of murder, loss and bretayal this game offers those that want a good single play through. But if you are looking for a game with tons of content and getting lost with side missions and colectables I reccomend you buy Infamous or GTA because this game is pretty short if you play it the once through. One of the best games this year
The storyline and attention to detail in this game is incredible. I've already played through the game twice and I have enjoyed every second of it. Definitely worth buying; one of the best games this year. I am very eager to soon play the DLC of Mafia II.

I was really waiting for this game. My hopes were really high, as the first game was very good, and presented more interesting story telling and game experience in comparison to former GTA. (Maybe GTA 3 or else - i don't remember).

And the most - the game world is not alive!. It's like they have so much to do, but limited to narrow story with nothing to do beneath it.
In the end - wait for discounted item and buy. For me it didn't worth buying for full price. Too short - no reply ability.

Mafia 2 is a great single player experience. The missions are fun, and the mood created by the time period of the late 40's and early 50's is fantastic. The shooting and driving mechanics aren't very difficult to get used to. All in all, this is a good game.

Great game
This game has a fantastic story line and a really emmersive environment. All the little details you expect from the late 40's early 50's are included. Enjoyed this so much I went back and played the original.
The only downside is the gameplay wasn't the greatest at times, but this is quickly overlooked once you are drawn into this amazing story

It is understandable that there has to be benchmark in terms of graphic quality but it seems the drawback of good graphics are the negligence of in-game dynamics. Take the city as an example, exemplary graphics but there is really nothing much to do besides buying suits which you would eventually collect all of them, upgrading cars, buying guns etc. There isn't any side missions and this is truly no where close to be as good as GTA IV. However, with the trend of having DLCs, I hope that the add-ons would really prevent gamers from putting this game away to collect dust.

This together with good shooting controls and strong acting and narrative, gives you a well controlled experience that will last for what it shows in story, rather than what crazy stuff you could do in a game world.
If you are looking for a open world sandbox-ish game, this definitely isn't it. But if you are fan of a game that has strong narrative and keeps your focus in experiencing that, then Mafia 2 is just that game.

The game is spectacular, I'll give them that, but there is a bug in chapter 14 where it will not allow players to move on. It simply loads for an eternity. It is obvious the game makers knew of this and other bugs before launch and they have not provided any fixes for it.
Wonderfully immersible game, but if you want to finish it, don't count on it. Too many people out there with PS3 and XBox 360 facing the same problem.

Wonderfully immersible game, but if you want to finish it, don't count on it. Too many people out there with PS3 and XBox 360 facing the same problem.

Great storyline!
Mafia series has always well known having great storyline. Mafia 2 proven to be one of the great game with rich storyline content. The game play isn't too bad as well. Unfortunately, PS3 version graphically is inferior to Xbox 360 or PC versions. Nevertheless, it's still a great piece of work.

Great Mafia Game
Visually, Mafia 2 is stunning. The developers have recreated the 1940s and 50s with great cars, clothes and music all from the era. The story is tremendous and the games really provides a great cinematic experience. The gun play and cover system is enjoyable and the modification of the cars is also fun.
Also have fun collecting the playboy centrefolds and wanted posters scattered throughout the city.
This is a great must-have experience!!

Best Mafia Game to Date!
This game is Great! It's like the Godfather, and it takes place in a city (New York) called Bay City. The graphics are amazingly acurate and crisp. You should get this game! Nuff said!! Buy one now!

A very excellent in graphics and sound great good fun gameplay and a fantastic realism of the 40s and 50s. Mafia 2 game great for those who enjoy good old music and old cars.
