Brilliant Game!
Kenzan takes a break from modern day gangstering and goes back in time to see Kazuma this time playing a sword-for-hire whose skills are enlisted by a young girl who has seen her family murdered by a man named Miyamoto Musashi, who she pays Kazuma to hunt down and kill. The twist is Kazuma IS Miyamoto Musashi .

After escaping from the political intrigue behind the battle of Sekigahara, Miyamoto Musashi, the strongest swordsman of Japan gave up his sword and identity and hid himself under the facade of Kiryuu Kazumanosuke, a hit man who owned an establishment called Tatsuya in Kyoto, Gion. Gion is an entertainment district where the rich and powerful buy sexual favors from the poor and powerless.
One day a girl, Haruka, came to Kiryuu with the job request “please kill Miyamoto Musashi for me.” and at her request Kiryuu journeyed to find his impostor and to reveal the secrets behind the battle of Sekigahara.
From Sekigahara, Gion to Funajima, bridging the gap between the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi and the current hit man Kiryuu, the game takes its players through an epic plot filled with action, rivalry, sexual desire and political intrigue.

An Awesome Spin-off !!!!!
This game is very addictive!!!! Great story, characters, and gameplay. This is a must buy for every playstation 3 owners.

A great story, very well told, loads of mini-games, cameos from a lot of characters from the first 2 Ryu games and all the voices and many character faces are provided by well-known Japanese actors and celebrities. The soundtrack also includes an opening track by ZEEBRA and a closing track by Ketsumeishi. Can't recommend this game highly enough to fans of the series or anyone who loves a good RPG/brawler/baseball/seduction/mahjong/etc etc game. This one has it all.
My only advice is to make sure you brush up on your Japanese, as it isn't a game aimed at children, and being set in the past tends to use a lot of archaic vocabulary. But if you can handle the level of language, you will really enjoy this game.
