You are a photographer stationed in Africa in this adventure, as a professional you will have the newest equipment such as camera lenses and computers.
Accept missions by viewing proposals via your email system, finding and tracking animals are only the start of your mission, you might be asked to take photos of them at unique angles, such as taking a close up shot of a giraffe's face. You'd realize you need a lot of skills to be an accomplished photographer.
You'll have a lot of equipment to choose from, from cameras to your camping gear. Of course these cost money, so be sure to accept as much missions as you can manage, besides, some organizations provide you with useful equipment such as tripods that you can use even after you have completed their request.
The game makes use of PS3's stunning graphical capabilities to render animations of animals to the most life-like degree. Remember how a clip from the game is used as a demonstration of the PlayStation3 prowess during the console's promotion? Now you can see why.
A great relaxing game This game captures the spirit of Africa, it's just like you making part of one NatGeo documentary, but with far more interaction.
Something different Great game to wind down with after a long day, stalking animals and taking the perfect shot is a lot of fun to do and very satisfying.
Highly recommended for casual players and hardcore alike.
Gratifying and laid-back Hakuna Matata is a very good game, for a very good price. If you like trophies, pony up a bit more and get the US Afrika version, which has them - this version does not support trophies.
Graphics: Very good, with great animations. Animals look and behave believably.
Audio: Sound effects are fantastic! Animals sound life-like. The audiotrack is okay, if a bit repetitive.
Gameplay: Hakuna Matata is a very laid-back game. You hop into a jeep and drive around looking for animals to take pictures from, most often to send back to publishers who ask you for specific shots (i.e. a shot of a giraffe drinking water). The camera behaves well and does not get in your way. Gameplay is simple and can be very rewarding for the patient ones - sometimes you just have to find a good spot and wait for the perfect opportunity.
Overall: Very good, relaxing game. You can't "die", nor is it possible to get lost or miss anything in the game. Recommended for playing with family, or girlfriend/boyfriend not used to gaming etc.
Different, yet enjoyable game Unfortunately, given the recent US release implemented trophies which were not back-patched into this release (and the devs do not appear have any intention of doing so), buying the English/Korean version is not advised.
Very peaceful and relaxing If your a fan of animals, you should get try this game because their mannerisms are quite realistic. This is as close as you will get to the real thing without actually being there.
The only negative is the graphics from far away and being able to go where you want with the car at the beginning of the game.
Something for everyone The idea is a simple one, take photos of animals in the wild. The depth is incredible. For anyone interested in photography, beginner to professional, this is a great game for learning how DSLRs work. This is the kind of game that you can apply real world knowledge of manual settings on camera and having them actually work in a video game. I bought this game with limited knowledge of photography and through gradual playing and learning, have come to know the terms and obtained the skills to take better photos. Only downside is that only Sony Cameras are featured, but that's to be expected, I suppose.
Great safari game If you don't have time to take vacation to Africa, this game is definitely a must have for PS3 owner. The game is not only present the beauty of the land and all inhabitants, but also introduce us to the work of wild life documentary. Starting from camera with multiple option of lenses to remote controlled video camera, make you believe that you are currently shooting the wild life. The photo session is so realistic that it can teach you the basic and intermediate use of DSLR camera and its complete collection of lenses, which is so expensive to afford in real life :)
The only down side is there're only Sony products since they are the main sponsor :)

Very good game It is a relaxing, interesting and educational game. I really enjoyed it because is a different style than we are accustomed, we don't shoot or kill anything. The graphics are beautiful, the sound is very good, and does not hinder gameplay. And, this game is lincenced by National Geographic. Very good!
Excellent game! This game was addictive for all the right reasons. I was always pushing myself to get higher quality photos. It really felt like I was running my own African safari.
Slow, beautiful & educational Those of you who've played Aquanaut's Holiday will already have an incling as to what this game is. Hakuna Matata takes its time and eases you through its ultimate goals: understanding & appreciating the natural world of North Africa and understanding & appreciating the photographic hardware on offer from Sony. Bottom line, if you're either a serious documentary buff or a budding photographer, this is a must have! If you're only looking for the next FarCry 2, best keep looking.
An Interactive Afrika Safari With a cheap price offered by Playasia, you should not miss it...While its kind of slow, its does make you appreciate all the pictures you going to take and show it to your family.. Good graphics and good gameplay.. And a good relaxing game for once...
Feels like Jurassic Park... only with animals When you first crack open Hakuna Matata, you just get excited. The opening of the game makes you feel like you're in the Jurassic Park movie. The score just fills you with excitement. Who'd have thought taking virtual photos of virtual animals could be so fun? Worth every penny.
Great graphics, amazing landscape yet not that perfect The graphic is just amazing, i specailly love the landscape. The animal behaviour is almost lifelike. The variation of animal is great too. However, after playing for sometime, the mission feel repetitive, not many challanges and reward. Overall, this game is a great game for relaxation...With this price listed at Play-Asia, BUY IT !..
Total different experience This is a relaxing game which is perfect for those who had spent hours playing tensing game such as those FPS or RPG.
The graphics of the environment and animals is superb. The details are fascinating. The animal profiles are detailed and great for those who wants to know more about information about the animals in real life.
However it takes patience to play this game as one have to drive around exploring the safari and wait for animals to come into distance etc. Overall I'm glad I gave this game a tried and never regerted it m/
for the photographer in you This completely English version of the game is fun for those who enjoy photography and wildlife. The graphics are great and the animal motions are random enough so they don't appear too repetitive. The game offers different challenges which keeps it from becoming too boring. The cameras allow you to adjust many settings like a professional, or you can just point and click in auto mode. Great game if you're looking for something relaxing.
Interesting game to explore but a bit bland at times There are a lot of unique animals to shoot with your camera and the graphics/animation look great! But travelling from camp to different locations gets a bit bland at times. Overall, its a unique experience like no other. If you like Aquanaut's Holiday, you'll also like this!

Amazing game This game is fun especially for people that love african wildlife. The graphics is beautiful and this game is very different to all the other games out there. Definately recommend this to african wildlife lovers.
Hakuna Matata This is a game which i find very relaxing to play, it is easy to while away plenty of time just cruising around. The early stages are a bit frustrating in that you only go where the driver takes you. My biggest complaint is that you can set up new games/players as much as you like but you can't access a choice of game from the main screen. this caused trouble when my children played with my wifes character!!
Fun and relaxing game This game is not the typical game of shooting or fighting. It's more on your quest to explore the African landscape looking for the best picture for your assignment. You don't have to be a professional photograher to understand how a good picture looks like. You'll know just from taking pictures of the animal itself (some pictures are shady, too dark, too bright, etc).
If you want an enjoyable game with no intensity and really nice graphics, this is the game for you.

Hakuna Matata - Casual Gaming For those of you who love nature and taking pictures of nature, then this is the game for you.
Story: you're a photographer in Africa whose sole purpose is to take pictures and upload them to a magazine in exchange for money, which you can then use to buy better equipment.
Controls: quite intuitive and I never had any problems with them, though this game doesn't exactly require precision as even the poorest photos will garner money.
Graphics: very stunning! The animals were so life-like! No complaints here!
Gameplay: This is the biggest issue I have with the game. Not only does it install on your PS3, it also takes up a lot of room for the photos you take, so be forewarned. Additionally, the only thing you're really doing is taking pictures. Unless you REALLY like doing it, I'd avoid this game. My biggest gripe is the load times; even with the install, load times are atrocious.
Overall: I likely would not have purchased this game had I known that you were ONLY taking pictures of the animals. Very little interaction if involved. Additionally, instead of getting the Eng/Kor version, consumers may want to wait for the NA version coming out soon if they're desperate for photographic gameplay.
Photography simulation... If you are interested in photography and nature, this game is perfectly suits you. It's alike photography simulation and plus the game has good graphics, relaxation environment and almost no stress.
Nature photographs For people who wants to experience how is to go after some wild animals. The graphics is not good as expected and has some slowdows. The save game is huge, so be prepared to save some space in PS3 HD.
Fun game Another "different" game from the PS3 library. This is actually more "active" than Aquanauts. Meaning you are doing more things and have a lot of variety.

No title This game is not for everyone. Gameplay only taking picture of animals. The quality of graphic is realy bad, feels outdated. Just like PS2 games. and also long loading times.
But if you like taking picture of something, this game is realy worth to try. The Korean version is 100% english, but the manual book is korean language.
A refreshing experience! Hakuna Matata (aka Afrika) is an amazing and refreshing game. Based in Africa, you are sent out on photographic missions, stalking animals to snap with your camera.
As you progress, you access new areas, new animals and unlock new cameras and lenses for purchase, which realistically mimic the quality and resolutions of their real world counterparts.
If you are a patient person who has any slight interest in this game, you won't be disappointed! Being able to browse the photos you have taken in-game and hare them online is a great feature, and you have the option to export them from your PS3 as well!
African Safari from your couch This game lets you explore a virtual African landscape as a wildlife photographer. You get "missions" that typically consist of particular animals to photograph, exhibiting particular behavior.
The visuals are good, and realistically capture the environment. The animals are surprisingly lifelike and have some reactive behavior (running away from you and your jeep, for example).
One interesting aspect is the collection of real-world cameras used in the game. The game display changes slightly and the interaction (you can even use the tilt-control of the controller to switch between landscape and portrait pictures) changes depending on the camera model you use. This is a nice bonus for camera/photography fans.
The Korean/English version works without any patch/modification on my US 60G PS3. One small caveat -- the savefile for this game is unusually large (~400MB!) and takes a very long time to load/save. This is fairly unique amongst all the PS3 games I've played.
Family friendly There's no need to repeat the fact that this game is quite diferent from your tipical shooter, that it belongs on it's very own genre, that it's very nice looking or that it's a experience you will not find anywhere else.
I already expected all of those but the game still managed to surprise me with some more.
First of all the soundtrack is quite good, it's very relaxing and fit's the mood of the game.
Also the game has an online portion I didn't expect at all. Don't get you hopes up, it's just a very small community driven in-game webpage where you can upload your photos, rate other people pictures and participate in themed contests. Still it's a nice touch that I didn't expect.
Finally, as the title suggest, this is one of the few games on the system that I can play with my daughters, they just love the way the animals move and interact.
The only downside would be the huge save, wich takes about 500Mb from your HDD, besides the instalation.
The game is not for everyone, but for the price, it's worth the try.

After all the killing and dashing and slicing and smashing and breaking and kicking **ses !!! Here comes a game with a nice and quiet atmosphere where you are one with the nature and hope you can find the Lion King somewhere around !
Totally recommended with 100% english translated menu/in game details...etc.

Yes, it's the same title as that song in the Disney animated classic: The Lion King. Flashback: Pumbaa, the warthog sings Hakuna Matata, which means "no worries" in Swahili. Think of it as the safari version of Grand Theft Auto (GTA) - replace the guns and criminals of GTA with digital SLR cameras and animals that you're not far off the map. Hakuna Matata allows you to enjoy almost-photorealistic wildlife images just for the pleasure of it. Basically, you're a photojournalist - a National Geographic contributor of sorts - tasked to shoot pictures of the animals, from elephants to lions, roaming the African-landscape. This Japanese-language game is no walk in the park, though. You need Metal Gear Solid-styled sneak skills to hunt down the creatures and line them up within sight - without alerting them. Get spotted by your prey and you'll be trampled on within a few heartbeats if you don't hoof off in time. However, worry not. This is a kid-friendly game and nobody dies. That animal attack, though, might just wipe out all the shots you've spent an hour getting, driving you up the wall. The first few hours of the game feels like a guided safari tour. However, you will get the keys to the jeep eventually, so you can drive around the African grasslands and explore where the local party animals hang out. Oh, watch out for the Zebra crossings. The challenge level can be tough for non-photographers. Imperfections mean you cannot move on. Not only do you have to track and get close to shoot the specific shots that your "employers" demand (like a mugshot of a giraffe or a herd of elephants crossing a river), the shots have to be technically sound - in other words, in focus, well composed and correctly exposed. After all, your shots might make the cover of the National Geographic magazine. While the graphics, music and sound effects are pretty much par for the course for a PS3 game, the presentation is somewhat of a throwback to the PS2. No human voices create a strange aural vacuum, especially since voice acting is so common in games now. Also, there's too much waiting in between most menu changes. These bugbears are enough to take you out of Africa, so to speak. Overall, if you love wildlife photography, realistically portrayed animals and cannot afford a real safari tour but would like to experience one, you'll go wild over this game.

It's Different But In A Good Way It seems like evaluations for this could be different depending on whether or not you prefer the freedom to explore your own personal scenery over having missions. It really is moving when you discover scenes of animals being one with nature. Amongst this abundant nature discover a colorful array of animal life and take pictures, take pictures, take pictures!! This sounds simple, and it really isn㦙 an exaggeration to say that𠏋 everything in this game. It takes a lot of patience to stick around until the decisive moment to snap a picture. People who have their own goals, saying to themselves stuff like 孏his angle is no good!� or 𨧻 want to take pictures of each animal𠏋 tail� should have fun.
