RE5 is AWESOME!

Bought the asian version coz it was released at the same time with the jpn version. This one's in english and I got it just in time for the release date. Played it and didn't sleep till I finished it. This game is sooo good. Feels like RE4 but only better. And it ties up a lot of loose ends from the RE story. Everyone ... [§ó¦h...]

  • Chris Redfield, protagonist of the original Resident Evil and Resident Evil: Code Veronica, returns
  • New environments and a diverse assortment of locations
  • New enemies bring new challenges: speed and intelligence make adversaries as dangerous singly as they are in groups.
  • An arsenal of weapons at the players command to keep the evil at bay, including knives, pistols, machine guns, sniper rifles and more.
  • Lighting effects provide a new level of suspense in both harsh light and deepest shadow
  • True high definition gaming on multiple game platforms, using an advanced version of Capcom’s proprietary game engine, MT Framework, which powered the next-gen, million-plus hit titles Devil May Cry 4, Lost Planet and Dead Rising.

The biohazard threat has not ended: Just when it seemed that the menace of Resident Evil had been destroyed, along comes a new terror to send shivers down player’s spines. Chris Redfield, returning Resident Evil hero, has followed the path of the evil literally around the globe. After joining a new organization, Chris heads to Africa where the latest bioterrorism threat is literally transforming the people and animals of the city into mindless, maddened creatures. Chris must take on the challenge of discovering the truth behind this evil plot. In Resident Evil 5, Capcom will teach players to fear the daylight as much as they have feared shadow in previous games.

Co-producer and series veterans Jun Takeuchi (Lost Planet) and Masachicka Kawata (Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles) unleashes an unprecedented level of fear for the next generation in Resident Evil 5, the sequel to one of the highest-rated videogames in history, according to Metacritic.com and Gamerankings.com. Promising to revolutionize the series by delivering an unbelievable level of detail, realism and control, Resident Evil 5 is certain to bring new fans to the series. New technology developed specifically for the game, as well as incredible changes to both the gameplay and world of Resident Evil will make this a must-have game for gamers across the globe.

Made to play with a friend!
If you want the short version, RE5 is pretty damn awesome on its own - and better with a friend.

The long version is kinda like this: if you were expecting to be scared out of your wits, you're probably better off playing the earlier games. RE5 is more gory than anything else, and the game has a small learning curve. You'll probably only need to conserve ammo in the first couple of chapters; after that, the enemies usually drop enough that you can cleave through hordes at once. The only problem is - the AI is stupid. The entire game is played as a duo, much like RE4, only this time your AI partner can actually fight back. However, she tends to do so fairly inneficiently. Sometimes you'll need to coddle it along so it doesn't simply go off and gets itself killed.

All of that, however, changes completely if you have a friend to play along with you. The best experience you can have in this game is to play with a friend, both with a headset (or even split-screen). The Co-op aspect of the game is fantastic, and requires a good coordination effort on both parts so they can get out alive.

Bonuses in the game are unlocked via a points system. Every time you finish a chapter or a round of mercenaries (unlocked when you finish the game), you get a certain amount of points based on your performance. You can then use said points to buy you certain advantages on the main game (such as unlimited ammo for weapons you've fully upgraded) or costumes and color schemes (play with a "classic" image filter for that 80's B-movie horror feel!). There are tons of trophies in the game as well.

The story is fairly standard as far as RE games go, with the final return of one of the game's most beloved characters, Albert Wesker. Also returning from earlier games is Chris Redfield as the main character (with Sheva Alomar as his starring sidekick). Though you STILL cannot walk and aim at the same time in this game, it's easier to dodge enemy advances here than it was in RE4.

Speaking of dodging, your enemies get more and more devious as the game progresses. First they get faster, then they start using ranged weapons that are NOT stuff picked up from the scenery and thrown at you. Then, eventually, they start wearing bulletproof armor (hint: shoot the crotch!) and finally, they end up shooting at you with Rocket Launchers. Ever wonder what it's like to eat one?

By the way, your enemies are all African people (and monsters), but after the PR fiasco Capcom got with RE4 (where everyone was Spanish, but for some reason some people actually complained they were MEXICAN because Spanish was all they spoke... Learn some european culture, people!) not all your enemies are black.

    Great Co-Op!
Really good game. However, it feels old... The ending is something straight out of a 1980's action movie, and it just doesn't deliver on alot of it's promises. That said, it gets the blood pumping, and delivers on great action and thrills.
Plus the co-op is very impressive!!

    good game but ...
the movement and camera angles drove me crazy. Especially where your movement and the whereabouts of your enemay are crucial. Other than that, amazing cinematic cut-scenes, top-notch graphics, story. Versus is a hugr let down and recommend you buy the game but skip the VS DLC mode.
