In a world where dreams and nightmares become reality, a band of powerful warriors from across dimensions must come together to stop their worlds from being consumed by evil incarnate. Harness the power of characters from such series as Disgaea, Ar tonelico, and DarkStalkers! Utilize the dynamic battle system to unleash powerful special skills and team combos, and choose your destiny!
Only for JRPG fans Style of play is fairly unique, but takes quite some time to get used to before one is able to chain combos or deal huge damage. The large cast of characters retaining their quirks is also a plus, though the premise of the game requires a typical suspension of belief. Searching for all the hidden extras to unlock the "true end" was also more annoying rather than tedious.
Those who dislike or have no experience with JRPGs would do well to stay away from this game

Kinda what I have expected Well, first of all the game doesn't have the graphic to match up to any PS3 games. It is still a game to enjoy if you don't mind watching your pixelated character walking around and fighting.

Quite Enjoyable This game is like, one of my dream games that i had always wished for, a cast with lots of female characters, being able to change the female cast's costume and etc.
The game got a pretty large cast so you can mix and match to you're liking. Another great feature about this game is that as you go further into the story, you can obtain costume for your female characters to change to which i reckon is pretty awesome. Some of the cutscenes are hilarious especially when they contain the Prinny (i love them prinnies).
The gameplay can be simple or complicated depending on how you wanna play. building up combos and doing special combo moves is pretty cool feature of the game.
I personally found the story somewhat disappointing because you get an abundance of characters joining your party at the same time, which doesn't give you an awful lot of time to enjoy each one but hey thats just me =].
Overall, the game is enjoyable and is recommended for people who are fans of JRPG or fans of the characters that is featured in the game. OH and if you do play, start off at Hard mode for abit of a challenge.

good game a game and engaging and exciting, with many characters and variety of attacks and spells, the graphics leave something to be desired, but recommend.

Could be better! The Crossovers, those meetings that mix characters from different universes, is the dream of every fan and have proven to be highly successful events, from comic to cinema, through the games as well. Capcom is a company that made school with that in their series of fighting mainly, as in "Marvel vs. Capcom, and now the Idea Factory to try too, but in an RPG.
The project was "Cross Edge," a very traditional game that features the characters York and Miko in a story beyond confusing which puts them in a kind of limbo blowing parallel dimensions and places them face to face with famous characters from other producers games. It is a plot completely senseless that serves as an excuse to dump heroes in games like Darkstalkers, "Disgaea", "Ar Tonelico," "Absolute Blazing", "Mana Khemia, Atelier Marie" and "Spectral Souls" without any criteria or care.
He was so eager to flood the game with a lot of people it is hard to understand who is doing what in the script, what are their motivations, dramas and purposes. It is a serious problem that dilutes the narrative and destroys the main asset of any game genre. Soon you if you press buttons to accelerate the dialogue and go straight to action, to see if things improve a little.
Struggles work in shifts, in which the player must use their points of attack to achieve the enemies scattered tables marked on the floor of the setting and switch between heroes quickly to amend combos. It is a combat system very robust, but it also suffers from the confusion of design. There is much to do, such as making items, exchange of clothes that give special powers and revenues to be discovered, to name a few things, but the interface is extremely polluted, difficult to navigate. Even the tutorial to get a little afraid to make a ridiculous amount of menus on the time to explain what to do.
If everything in the game seems too complex, you can not say the same presentation. There is a mixture of 2D graphics with old-fashioned 3D scenarios poor, without any kind of detail, and some uninspired dialogue - available in English and Japanese. All this running with a performance below the critical, even with the content installed on the hard disk of the device.
CONSIDERATIONS
"Cross Edge" seemed the dream of every fan of Japanese games, since it brings together characters from various games worshiped as "Darkstalkers", "Disgaea" and "Ar tonelico" in an RPG unique. But the final product is disappointing, with a troubled history, complicated interface and presentation too poor by today's standards.

Unique, but a must This game is rather unique simply because it grabs characters from not just multiple game worlds but also multiple game makers. This will not stop someone from playing if they haven't played the related games though as the game introduces the characters expecting you not to know.
Like all the related games this game also has 2D characters so fans will be able to enjoy to game with the characters as they originally seen. This also applies to a few of the monsters.
The gameplay is similar to "Enchanted Arms" with the grid for your allies and one for the enemies however the means of choosing commands is a bit restrictive but much more active and allows for both basic and special combos depending on how your characters are setup. This one aspect makes the battles more interesting and require more thought.
The story however was a bit lacking and, for the most part, simple. But those who don't mind a simple story or would like to see how the characters react to each other will like it. Also the finding where to go and any extras on the field can be a rather annoying task.
Overall, the game is a must for any fan of the related game, and a recommended for any other JRPG fan.

Must have for J-RPG Fans An interesting entry onto the PS3 platform, this RPG hybrid uses crossovers from some of the Japan's best developers to create a game full of fan-service. Look forward to appearances from Gust and Nippon Ichi, capcom, and dream factory.
With over 20 playable characters, and plently of free dlc including extra dungeons and free items, PS3 owners who enjoy a good japanese rpg shoud not miss this game

Cool RPG A unique kind of rpg. I love the combo attack parts, there are tons of combinations to choose from different characters. A lot of secrets to find. Once you play the game, it's kinda hard to stop because you gonna get more and more curious about what's next story gonna be and what characters are gonna join you. It's a comical game, but the battle system is HARD for the first time. Unlike other typical rpg games that just need whacking and slashing, in this one you have to think a little. I played hard mode when I first tried the game, and it was really HARD, so i gave up and played normal, and I find it still HARD =) (sorry, not a hardcore player)

Amazing Tactical RPG Cross Edge is so far the best RPG on PS3.
With more than 20 characters to have fun with and more than 100 different combos, you will have to master the combo system if you are aiming at the platinum trophy.
Even if the graphics look quite simple, this is fairly compensate by an astonishing gameplay. It looks tough at the beginning of the game, but once you are used to it, trust me, it is going to be fairly simple to progress in this game.
The difficulty is well-balanced, and the FREE DLC on playstation store may also help you.
So far, Cross Edge can be considered as a must have game for every RPG fans, so get it and have fun.

Interesting and Engrossing RPG It's a nice niche rpg. A mix of both your standard fare jprg and tactics rpg. The extensive list of characters in the game makes the gameplay and exploration fun and engrossing. It might be a little confusing at the start and the battle system does need a little of getting used to but once you've learned all the nitty gritty of the system you'll be enjoying the battle system more and more. Its a great game for the rpg fans who are lacking some rpg action from their ps3. My only gripe about it is the UI during battle would look messy for new players and might turn them off to the game

Awesome RPG if you're really patient It terms of longitivity, it is a decent RPG. There are plenty of free DLCs, quite time consuming, some grinding but not in such a bad way, some online rankings available and challenging at times. Will get addictive as you get in deeper into the game. It's money well spent for me and i'm still playing >
Get it if you like RPG In many ways vey similiar to Valkyrie Profile on PSone, especially the battle system (also similiar is Star Oceans battle system). If you've played other RPGs you can dive right into it and enjoy.
Very good idea to combine worlds and characters of different makers; the Capcom characters are a welcome surprise.

Thumbs up! Game that offers a variety of content. Free DLC's will also attract you to buy this game! A sure buy for RPG fanatics out there.

Great game! A large amount of content, a unique battle system with an interesting mix of both 2D and 3D enemies and a creative story. This game has it all, and is easy to recommend for fans of any of the featured series. One of the best RPGs on the the PS3, what are you waiting for?

wicked game I bought this game for a few reasons mainly for the idea of cross ova idea battles can be a pain but being able to get into a battle when ya want is a cool idea. over all a great game but do like the battle system that i thought was fun and loved the music in the game too
ecchizen(7) on 27, Aug. 2009 08:52 (HKT)
I don't know... I was expecting more. It's not a "Disgaea 3 like" game. But it's nice and have a lot of DLCs.

Great game with complex battle system Best to play this game in hard mode to get the best out of the game. tons of stuff to do on the game like crafting weapons and armors and the battle combos are amazing to watch.

Promising but quite confusing gameplay I bought the game for the sake of Darkstalkers. The gameplay is quite confusing but I'm slowly getting used to it. It looks similar to Disgaea which I haven't tried yet. It could've been more exciting if it plays like Valkyrie Profile or Tales series.
