Change of pace Being a fan of the previous star wars, indiana jones and batman LEGO outings I was expecting this latest to be a retread of the earlier games, just with new characters and stories from Kingdom of the Crystals Skull.
I was surprised to find a lot of things have changed, keeping it fresh, a new Hub level for each story (3 for the first 3 movies and 3 for KOTCS). The hub level is actually a playable level unlike the previous games, with enemies, secrets and a new more intergrated system of unlocking new characters, vehicles and powerups. Instead of cycling through UI screen buying items you instead just find the character or vehicle in the world, walk up to it and buy it (once it has been unlocked via the storyline that is).
Levels themselves are much shorter, which actually turns out to be a good thing with tighter move streamlined gameplay, There's also a lot more of them and even more hidden and bonus levels to be unlocked.
Even more surprising is some of the tech behind it, from the sea of ants to the impressive new co-op split screen feature, which fixes many of the issues with the previous games by "breaking" the screen in half when the players run off in different directions, only to merge again when they run back close to each other.
If you liked the previous games but were growing a bit tired, this is a fresh change with tons of changes to the layout of the game and even more options and game types I haven't even mentioned in this review.
