For Experts and ...and on top of that, region free for everyone in the world to enjoy!
For the experts, there are plenty of modes to take on. Version 1.5 Arcade and XBox 360, Arrange, and Black Label (as a downloadable). Within those, there's Original, Maniac and Ultra difficulties (and 'God' in Black Label).
Also, for the scrolling shooter maniacs, there's a lot of customization. Adjust your display to accommodate 4:3 or 16:9 screens. Enlarge or shrink the playfield or utilize enlarged 'windows' of the playfield to highlight the score, the counters, bombs and meters while changing their position on screen (for you big screen players out there). Change the background wallpaper, visual effects, blur, overlays (for that authentic arcade CRT touch), and for the hardcore gamer...rotate the screen to make things arcade perfect! (don't forget to rotate the 'display' settings or else the controls will still be in horizontal mode)
And for the beginners, there's Novice mode to help ease you into the Bullet Hell genre. Less bullets and simplified bullet patterns will train you up until you can take on Version 1.5 and Arrange.
The updated hi-res graphics on the 360 modes are sharp and crisp (if you adjust the right visual settings). You can even play with the original arcade graphics, however those are very jagged and pixelated. The music is also wonderfully composed, I really wish I got this earlier so I could have had the soundtrack (thank goodness I didn't make that mistake on Espgaluda II).
Overall, this is a game that will keep you coming back to take on the next challenge! Highly recommended for all scrolling shooter fans!
