Great job Cave!
At an affordable price, you'd be silly not to get this game. Buy it!
Out of all the Cave games, I'd say this one has my favorite soundtrack.

Another Cave shooter, another classic.
A little trickier than Mushihimesama Futari or Deathsmiles, but still godly. Anyway, Cave works are the apex of 2d shooting games, and that's about it!

Shmup with depth!
It took me a while to understand the mechanics and this game reveals to be VERY challenging! Which is of course exactly what what I expecting. If you are searching for a game that requires pure hand eye coordination skills, and quick reflexes. This is the game! It is also a very beautiful game with flamboyant graphics and it gives a very good arcade style experience.

Another Beauty From Cave!
Cave's done it again! Another great SHMUP experience from Cave, this time in a cheaper alternative! Unlike Mushihime-sama Futari v1.5, every mode is already on the disc and unlocked, no need to pay extra for DLC. I have to say that Espgaluda II is one of my favorites from Cave. Great game and it's region free! Hopefully Cave will start releasing more games this way.

Upscaled 360 version looks lovely. Although it seems tricky to score at first, like all Cave games is has a lot of depth and scoring potential once you get your head around it. Runs like a dream on my UK 360S

Great graphics, soundtrack and gameplay. A bit simpler compared to the masterpieces Ketsui and Daifukkatsu, but an awesome game nevertheless.

Espgaluda II is a great addition to the Espgaluda franchise. It's challenging and approachable at the same time. With a ton of modes, super slick 2D visuals, and a wonderful soundtrack, you can't go wrong with Espgaluda II.

Another classic from Cave
While Mushihimesama may still hold a special place in my heart, Espagaluda is a close second. Everything you'd want in a shmup is here, and the included OST is a fantastic listen as well. Since this is Cave's only other region-free release, it's more than worth owning. I can't praise Cave enough, they consistently deliver some of the highest quality games I've seen in my lifetime of gaming. Japanese is not required, the menus and HUD are mostly in english, or easy to figure out with some guesswork.

Fantastic Shmup!
This game has almost everything I think an awesome game should have, lots of replayability, a fantastic soundtrack (Both original and Arrange), challenge settings you can tweak, and an OST to go with it. Even on some of the more difficult bosses I find myself unable to stop playing this game even when dying left and right.

A great shmup from Cave
So, this is my first serious attempt at a manic shooter. In this review I will give you my opinion about the various aspects of the game.
Graphics:
The graphics are nice and smooth. I like the fact it is 2d. It serves this type of game very well. Granted, because of the frantic nature of this game it is sometimes difficult to see what you are shooting at, but the enemies and scenery still look very good. Same goes for the bullets fired at you. Also, I just love the explosions!!
Sound:
The music in this game is excellent. I love the tunes and actually think the boss theme “descend” is catchy J None of the tunes have gotten boring for me and they really fit the scenery. Good job. I also love the fact that the soundtrack is included. Every game should have this! The sound FX are great too. Great explosions and voice work (although I do not understand Japanese, the voices are clear) A plus is the sound you hear when a boss is damaged enough and a new phase is about to start. Again a feature that more games should have.
Gameplay:
This is where the game shines. There are a lot of modes to choose from. One mode lets you dodge bullets, on mode lets you destroy red and blue bullets, one mode lets you destroy bullets by destroying enemies and one mode lets you use slowdown to destroy red bullets. All in all, plenty to choose from. The controls are easy to learn even if you do not speak Japanese and that is awesome. The game responds well and there is minimal slowdown when the action gets frantic.
Story: I cannot read it but it is not really important for a game like this.
Difficulty:
This game is tough, don’t get me wrong on this. However, I do have the feeling it can be mastered. It needs quick reflexes and lots of training so you can remember the patterns. For someone who’s not familiar with bullet hell games it might seem overwhelming, but keep practicing and you’ll get better. It is not entirely unforgiving. The achievements are good too. Some easy, some medium and some hard (Mostly the ICC’s) With practice you could get them all.
Replay Value:
High in my opinion. The game can be finished in about 30 minutes, but this is a game you will be playing over and over. To become good enough to get high scores, or all achievements it will take a very long time (depending on skill) but this game is just fun to play from time to time, so u could play it indefinitely!!
Conclusion:
A game that looks and sounds good. With its many modes and smooth controls it will most certainly entertain you. It might not be for everyone but if you like shmups this is a hard but fair game with lots of replay value.
Cave did a great job on this one and it is great to see a region free game. To bad only 2 games are region free as I would sure want more of these games. I just couldn’t get enough of this game and am really enjoying myself.

Best 360 Game Period
This game has everything I want in a shooter. Intelligent scoring systems, tons of modes with unique gameplay, and beautiful graphics and character design.
Many people seem to be frightened of the large amount of bullets contained within this genre of game; however, I find that even a novice like myself can adapt and learn. Getting better is the challenge, and that's why it makes you keep wanting to play. That's why this game is great.

Another great region-free shooter by Cave
Following the spectacular Mushihimesama Futari, here we have another GREAT shooter by Cave: gorgeous graphics, hundreds of bullets on screen, crazy score system, and even more game modes, to satisfy both the hardcore veteran and the ones who wants to approach this elitary genre for the first time.
On top of that, the game is region-free. Thanks Cave, and please, release more region-free titles...

Woot
Pretty awesome game - I didn't play the arcade version, so I can't exactly compare the port quality. The only thing I was kind of disappointed with were the lack of high-resolution redraws of the side panel art like with what was done with Mushihimesama Futari. Doesn't affect gameplay though, so it's nothing to cry milk over.

Insane Shoot'em Up Game
Espgaluda II Black Label is not a game for the faint hearted. The gameplay is insane in later stages. I died countless times in playing through the game. But I like it! :) There is charisma in the visuals & gameplay that makes me come back to challenge the game again & again. Overtime, you will master the pleasure of playing the game.

Probably one of the best maniac available on 360 with mushihimesama futari.
The scoring system is a bit tricky to get at first but once you've understood it, it's pure awesomeness and shiny bonus multipliers popping everywhere on your screen.
Also, region free.

Feature packed
Espgaluda II is a game that doesn't disappoint. Cave decided to include the Black Label game mode together with a whole bunch of other variations of the game which makes this one of the most feature complete Cave shooters on the market. The region-free standard edition is an amazing game that gives everything we've learned to love about Cave's games. If you were an early order a soundtrack CD was also included and considering the quality of the music it's well worth hunting down the first print. Espgaluda II is a shmup to grow with, a solid system and presentation really sets this gem apart from other shmups.
Espgaluda II is a game that doesn't disappoint. Cave decided to include the Black Label game mode together with a whole bunch of other variations of the game which makes this one of the most feature complete Cave shooters on the market. Challenging but FUN!
I think it's already a fact that Cave makes great shmups! If you like this genre, then you've got to buy this! I wish there could more games like this available! Please no more region protection!!! :(

Great game if you're into schmups!
This is definately one of the best schmups i've ever played in my life. However $70+ for a game where all you ever do is fly around and blow up stuff is a bit steep IMO. I would only recommend it if you're a huge schmup fan.

One of Cave's Best
When I popped in Espgaluda II for the first time upon getting it a couple weeks ago, the old school days of glorious shooters like R-Type and Gradius. But this isn't those same times now. Ikaruga (a Treasure shoot 'em up released first in the arcades in 2001), changed what a shoot 'em up game really was about. Espgaluda II is a maniac shooter romp that builds upon certain foundations to create an expansive shooter that never stops and is absolutely beautiful in detail and mechanics. There are various modes in this edition: the beautiful XBOX 360 version, Black Label (harder difficulty), and even an Ikaruga-esque mode where there are two types of bullets, red and blue that you can deflect with your different shots, the laser shot and auto shot. The game is full of mechanics, such as green gems that allow you to activate bullet time, allowing for you to squeeze in and out of some of the more difficult and tight situations. Should you run out of green gems, the bullets will actually move faster, requiring that you always keep an eye out for your vitals. Overall, Espgaluda II is an amazing shooter that is as fast as it is fun. It is quite difficult, but the bullet patterns make sense and through practice, you'd be amazed at what you can dodge. With Deathsmiles being ported to America in June, developer Cave is hot right now. Keep making fantastic shooters and I'll be happy.

awesome shmup game
This game looks great, it's loaded with hours of fun (albeit stressful fun), and will satisfy your daily shmup craving. I hope Cave continues the act of not region locking their games *cough*DeathSmilesII*cough*.

really wonderful
I love this game. It looks beautiful and I really like some of the music. The variety of modes available is nice, playing on the novice levels is actually quite relaxing (in a zen sort of way). Highly recommended!

Fun manic shooter!
It's nice to have games like this be available to American players. I enjoy the manic bullet action. The scoring system is very complicated, and I still don't understand all the differences among the modes, but Espgaluda II is a lot of fun! I hope to see more Cave shooters here, hopefully at lower price points. :)

Insane
One of those games that you can just keep playing forever. Extremely difficult but very rewarding. I'm especially impressed with the wide variety of game modes that really keeps things interesting and challenge the player in many different ways. A perfect companion to Mushihimesama Futari and I hope to see more great region free releases from Cave in the future.

Another 5 stars
Espgaluda II is definately much more challenging than Mushihimesama Futari, but when you manage to pull off a good run, it's VERY satisfying. This has countless hours of fun (and a bit of frustration as well) and is a must buy!

Cave does not disappoint!
A great bullet hell shooter and nice looking faceplate too, too bad this is going to be the last region free cave game in a while (well the LE is not region free anyway), I'm glad that black label is included in the game this time, not like Deathsmiles.

Rich and rewarding
Espgaluda II is one of the most engaging shooters I've played. I've already spent well over $100 on arcade credits, and am glad to have purchased the home conversion. There's so much complexity to the scoring systems in the game that I'm not sure if I'll ever tire of playing. The systems in this game invite exploration and experimentation more so than many other games.

good, but hard
Another excellent Cave game, albeit too "theoretical" for me: you have so many scoring options that it takes forever to figure out the optimal way through a stage - which, no doubt, enhances the replay value greatly. Presentation is top-notch (this might be Cave's prettiest game, apart from DDP Dai FUkkatsu), there is a HD mode present, a Black Label Mode AND an additional arrange mode, so you get a lot of bang for your bucks. The only thing that really might make people not buy this is the difficulty level: it's closer to DDP Dai Ou Jou than the first ESPGaluda. All in all, excellent release for the X360.

Worth every penny.
This game is challenging because of the complex scoring systems but there is nothing more rewarding than seeing a screen full of bullets turning into gold.
The graphics are greatly enhanced alltough you can play it with the original gfx/sound.
Sound gets even bettter playing on a decent hifi system
The 5 differend versions will keep you busy for a long time and getting top100 on the leaderboards could take you a lifetime.

Great fun, many gameplay modes
I'm a casual fan of shumps, and Espgaluda II impressed me greatly due to the large variety of gameplay modes available. There's arcade, xbox, xbox novice, black, black novice, arrange and omake. There's also a full tutorial mode making it considerably easier to learn.

not really for me...
I play shooters for 'survival' rather than scoring and this game is most definitely for the score attackers. No dodging to do except on the bosses so for someone like me its no real fun. If you are more into scoring then add the 2 missing stars to my review.

Solid Shmup title though not my favorite
This is a great game and a great port. It has everything a hardcore fan would want, tons of modes and great system and hard difficulty. I gave this game 4 and not 5 though because i'm not loving the game's green color scheme and the sprites when not filtered look jaggie (this is corrected with filtering on). These are minor points at best, but they were enough for me not to give it the highest rating, in short, I liked some of Cave's other recent 360 games a bit more (Futari and Deathsmiles i'm looking at you).

This game is good. But i only recommend it to people who are hardcore fans of the genre. I personnally like Mushihime futari better. But that does not mean this isnt a great game. I didnt give it 5 stars because after i achievement whored it i went back to futari.

Sheer excellence.
The variety of distinctly different gameplay modes and lack of region protection makes this a must-have for any shmup fan with access to a 360. The difficulty takes a huge step up from the original game (a very welcome step indeed, as much as I love ESPGaluda it was a tad easy), the soundtrack is killer, the stages and bosses are excellent... Buy it.

Following on the heels of Mushi Futari comes Espgaluda II. While the scoring system is deeper than the former, is it more fun than the latter? It's debateable. Still extraordinary, and worth having in any STG collection, but I find myself wishing I was playing Futari...

2nd region-free Cave shmup after Mushihime
Following Mushihime-sama Futari, this is the 2nd region free shmup from Cave, so one can play this on a US 360. However, note that only the regular version is region-free, while the limited edition w/ the faceplate is region locked.
I have not played this in the arcades, this is the first time I've played Espgaluda II. There are many modes, including original, black label, arranged etc, which all have different ways of chaining combos and scoring. It has a tutorial and novice mode for beginning, but this is definitely more challenging than other Cave shooters that I am accustomed to (ie, Death Smiles, Mushihime Futari). I am looking forward to Death Smiles 2, Ketsui, and Guwange on XBLA as well. If you're a serious shmup fan, get a Hori Real Arcade Pro EX-SE (seimitsu stick and buttons) for the true arcade experience.

Very Deep
This game has one of the deepest scoring systems ever and that's just the normal game it also comes with 5 all new modes. Yagawa of Battle Garegga fame even steps in to make a vaguely Dimahoo inspired mode. This game is also extremely beautiful and comes with the great controls and feel you'd expect from Cave.

Another masterpiece from Cave
After the release of Deathsmiles and Mushihimesama Futari 1.5, Cave now brings us to another shmup to the XBox 360. The port itself is very well done, with graphical enhancement made on the 360 mode to make this game looks so much better on your HDTV. More importantly it includes Black Label mode in which, unlike Cave's previous outings, you can play it straight from the disc instead of DLC.

Terrific port with lots of options
Though ESPGaluda II is arguably one of the hardest of the Cave Shooter collection, its appearance on the port is not unwelcome. With several new modes, including Black Label, Arrange, and Omake!, there is quite a lot to do and definitely worth the money. Though the packaging on the limited edition is not as neat as the standard, the faceplate is definitely a nice addition.

Espgaluda II is one of my favorite Cave shmups. This limited edition is a must have for all fans. It doesn't matter if it's region locked, buy this and the regular edition as well!

More than just a straight Port!
This is my first CAVE game on the Xbox 360 and it's a real winner.
Unlike the straight forward PS2 ports the graphics have been completely redrawn to take advantage of the extra horsepower the Xbox 360 provides and it makes a world of difference.
Purist have the option of playing with the original graphics too but it's hard to go back after seeing the HD graphics.
Only flaw, and it's a major one, is the fact this version is region protected requiring a Japanese Xbox 360. For that reason I cannot recommend this version unless the faceplate is an absolute must.

The first complete Cave shooter for 360!
By that I mean no DLC, all modes are there for everyone to play. In my opinion, the best Cave vert shooter yet on th e360. Bring on Ketsui and DeathSmiles II : )

Possibly my Xbox 360 GOTY...
...and it's only March.
The first Espgaluda is one of my favorite games of all time, because of Cave's trademark intensity, the unique scoring system, and the way that the game loads the screen with danger, yet gives you several unique ways to stay in the game.
The sequel delivers more, more, more. High-resolution graphics and another pumping soundtrack fuel action that gets much more intense than that of the first game. If you love some strategy in your shmups, Espgaluda II is a great choice. Plus, included in the package are three alternate versions of the game: Black Label, Arrange and Omake. The scoring system is completely different in each version, so they play totally differently. You even get Novice versions of the original and Black Label versions. And of course, training and replay modes are included, along with online leaderboards. Downloadable replays from the top players will teach you everything you need to know about this game!
The LE comes with a beautiful faceplate. That's the only difference besides the cover art (on box & manual), so if you don't care about the faceplate, you're better off with the SE. The SE is region-free, as well; the LE is Japan-only.
If you are a fan of Cave shmups and you haven't bought this yet, what are you waiting for?

A true masterpiece for those who love SHMUP's.
Honestly I was a bit skeptical on buying the limited edition of Espgaluda II, but I have to come to realization that it was one of the smarter purchases I have made video game wise. The Limited Edition came with a Faceplate that looks even beautiful on the HALO 3 xbox 360's, and a soundtrack from the game that made your money worthwhile.
The Regular edition is also region free, so many SHMUP fans should jump on this because its one of the best there is.
The game is superb, and feels like a complete package, offering many modes to play through, and a few characters to choose from with their own special abilities. The customization of the screen was also a very nice touch especially for replays, and showing off the game to others.
Graphics were very nice with all things considered. The graphics are always improved for the console games, and this one is no exception, its beautiful. You can also opt to play on the original graphic arcade settings as well.
The achievement list ranges from simple, to Professional, as you will need to complete the game on one credit for a few of the achievements, which is by means no easy task.
All in all this felt more complete then many of SHMUP's that I have played, and its a game that I will keep playing for years to come in the ultimate goal to master it.
ESPGALUDA II Black Label [limited edition] gets a 5 out of 5.

Espgaluda II
Great game. Many different gameplay options to play with. Wish it had some display options like Mushihime Futari, i.e. scanline. Overall, fun game.

Another Cave masterpiece!
Espgaluda II Black Label is another top notch SHMUP from Cave! Everything is near perfect, graphics, sound, and gameplay! It also has many different modes of gameplay. Arrange mode is my favorite so far.
THANK YOU Cave for giving us another region free masterpiece.
