Step into the skin of the pretty pilot and shoot your opponents down. Konami is bringing the arcade game, and much better, the cockpit of a fighter craft to your living room.
The Konamistyle Special Edition comes with a stylishly designed control stick manufactured by Hori Japan designed to match the original arcade feeling, with touch pad support and the profiles of all the pretty pilots printed on the front.
Slip the game disk into your Xbox360 and plug the control stick to the machine and you are all set to do war to all your challenging opponents out there.
As a special edition, this package comes with a set of six tin badges, pin these accessories to your shirt or bags to show your loyalty towards your favourite pilot.
For Gradius/Parodius fans only As the title suggests, this is a horizontal shooter based on the old Konami classics like Gradius or Parodius, where you collect capsules to upgrade your ship's weapons as you progress thorough a stage. The catch is that the ships player controls are rendered as different girls. If you're fan of the old games, you would be amused by many of the references. However, I only think the 3D graphics is so-so as I was expecting much more. Also there is not a wide variety of soundtrack as many additional background music are sold as DLCs on the Japanese Live marketplace, contents which I felt were withheld from the game at the beginning. There is also a multiplayer mode to compete for the highest score for up to 3 players which was kind of fun, however, it's not easy to find people available for online matches.
Great Game I love the 2D shooter legends Gradius and Parodius. Logically, I had to then watch Otomedius Gorgeous ... and I was not disappointed. Brilliant game. Buy it!
Gorgeous! The games title is very accurate in a number of ways, from the gorgeous HD graphics to the absolute cuteness of the characters themselves. Some may classify this as a "cute-em-up" because it is a parody game with TONS of references and nods to older Konami shooter games with a very light, tongue-in-cheek feel to the entire thing. Great fun, lots to learn, but still good for beginners if you're pretty new to the genre. One of my favorite horizontal shmups of all time.
Here's to shooters on the 360 Even though I've only played a few of the games from the Gradius series throughout its history (I, III, IV, and the spin-off Parodius) I very much appreciated the love this game had put into it. ...I'm not claiming I can measure love, but this game has so much detail in the form of remixes of old songs, the characters being the old ships (Lord British!), and the HUGE variety of weaponry. The game was a blast to play through the Arcade mode and through the Original mode too. Eh... I only have one minor complaint about the whole package, and that would be with the aforementioned character designs... did so many of them have to very scantily clad women? Well... I DID enjoy the eye-candy, but I kinda felt bad that I did. ;)
Well, I highly suggest it if you want a "just-plain fun" shooter.
Great shumps game for beginners When I first bought my JPN Xbox 360 on Play-Asia, I also ordered this game. I must say this is a nice shmups game for beginners. With cartoony like characters to amuse the player, this game will keep you busy for hours. It comes with the original arcade game and the new console version. It also has a lot of references from the old Gradius games (boss, theme songs etc.) With new add-ons coming to the Xbox Live Marketplace, this is a great game for shumps beginners and advanced players!
