New, original and a LOT of fun!!
Every once in a while a unique and refreshing game comes along and this is by far the first for a long time and whats more its great!!
The tutorials help you get straight into what seems like a very simple game, but hidden underneath is a real deep strategic battle game. Designing your Geo-Slate is a blast and deciding what parts to purchase and use (weapons, plants etc) will have you scratching your head for weeks (in a good way!!).
Basic premise is build suitable defenses for your "core" teaching your APO's (little acorn guys) how to swim and use the various contraptions you buy. You get 10mins to prepare for the battle and you carry your Geo-Slate over for each game. The higher you rank the more contraptions you get to buy from the shop.
You get to choose your opponents so if you need some cash for certain items you can just face some you know you can beat easily, but you will always have that urge to try and defeat someone more challenging. Also for battling you get creatures known as "Tela's" you can summon (2 can be active from your stock of 6, but there are LOADS to try out!!) and you get some Force powers which use elements (earth, air, fire and water).
Raising and lowering land is like populous for those that experienced it, teh potential for Geo-Slate designs is nigh on limitless. I haven't tried the online mode but I am certain that trying out various Geo-Slate configurations against human opponents would be amazing, plus on live you could discuss it all!!
All in all the most refreshing game released for a LONG time with an almost limitless life span, you are bound to come back to this one, the live element wraps off an already strong package, do not be decieved by the simplistic looking graphics.
