During the exploration for new materials to produce more powerful battle ships, the Material Forces discovered a space mine on the enemy territories. Then the scientists began to analyze the material and concluded they had found the one material to lead 'em all - they called it DUX.
The scientists used it to assemble a prototype battle ship with more power than any others in the space to lead the fight against the Spiritual Spacers. Somehow the material seemed to be instable and the use of the assembled ship seemed highly risky, so that a lot of the scientists fell away from the project.
Since there hasn't been any other choice, the forces were forced to let it fly. Now you pilot this ship to reach the obvious. Good luck!
Dux is a shooting game for Sega Dreamcast developed by HUCAST.net & KonTechs Ltd. This game combines traditional gameplay with modern shoot 'em up features such as many bullets on-screen and an adequate scoring system. To make advantages of the Dreamcast's 2D capabilities, the game completely consist out of CGI and features high-resolution with super smooth graphics.

Pretty graphics, nice music and rock hard
Fun shoot-em-up with very pretty pastel graphics, and nice music. The difficulty is unforgiving, in a masochistically good way. The way it handles restart/continue/quit is a bit confusing at first.
Worth mentioning is that this game has the highest quality packaging I've ever seen for a game - the paper quality and print quality on both the manual and CD itself is unbelievable.

I wanted to like Dux...
I really wanted to like this game, but I don't. Boring gameplay doesn't help, but the worst part is the colour clashes and bullets blending into the background make playing the game a frustrating experience. Kudos to the developer for trying something different but it doesn't look like it was tested too well. With more testing and bug fixing, as well as fixing the bullet issues this game could have been much better.

fun game
great game, and better visuals then you would expect from a home brew game. I do admit, there is a huge nostalgia factor in my review since it is on dreamcast, and it is a shooter. but nonetheless this is a well made game. highly recommended

Broken
Easily one of the most dislikeable games I've ever played. Worst shootemup on the DC by far.
*BORING enemy and boss design.
*No difficulty levels.
*Enemies and bullets blend into the background.
*Automatic continue(WTF?).
*Bugs and glitches.
*Checkpoints that you have to "collect"
*The controls suck (no auto-fire) and you can't change them.
Avoid at all costs.

Clunky and manic.
Im stoked that the DC is still breathing. But this game is a tad crazy n hard.
Def for the collectors out there.

A GREAT
DUX is a great game! The controls are nice and respond perfectly. Playing this game through VGA with your Dreamcast is the way to go! The game looks amazing. The game is quite difficult but they reward you nicely and advance you in the game as you progress with upgrades and checkpoints. (Who wants a wimmpy "easy" SHMUP anyway?) This game keeps you coming back for more, trying for a new high score and getting farther in the game! DUX is a blast to play. HUCAST (3 man team) has done an incredible job with DUX for the Sega Dreamcast! The game is great!

If you like R-Type, you'll fancy this.
This game is an obvious homage to R-Type, and though having it's flaws, really captures that game play well (orb works well, same weapon systems).
The style of graphics is an acquired taste, but it's got nice details (bosses coming in through the background, nice parallax). Color setting is interesting, though can be confusing (you can opt to leave out some backgrounds for better visibility).
Music is nothing short of fantastic!
Stunning and really adding to the atmosphere of the game.
The scoring bug and the "forced continue with keeping score intact" are indeed annoying, but will be patched and available to buyers of the original iirc.
If the patch works as promised, this is without doubt a great purchase for all people like R-Type.
I can recommend this if patched well!

Could have been better....
After many delays, the Dreamcast's latest squeeze hits the market after a long road. Being an indie game like Wind and Water Puzzle Battles released November last year it's very impressive to see what has been done with the little resources the developers had, the graphics are nice, the front end is very Cosmic Smash minimal chic and the music has had a great deal of effort put into it.... But.... like Last Hope before it... The Sol Feace style side on gameplay just doesn't suit the style of game, not only does it restrict the amount of freedom to move unlike something like Ikaruga it also makes you contend with debris like Last Hope to which by the time you have charged a shot your already looking at losing a life.. And starting the level again in some cases... I was annoyed that I died at the SAME point everytime on level one due to lack of movement. Don't get me wrong I will support the Dreamcast as long as developers still take the risk, but this game will be one to add to the collection rather than a constant player, lastly the packaging is stunning, I have the Limited one the one thing I did though was change the box to a nice double white DVD case. What the artwork could have done with was a Dreamcast logo in the corner as it does have an identity crisis next to some of my later DVD case DC titles.

No, I do not like it.
I am a fan of shoot em ups with classical gameplay like Thunderforce IV and also waited (too) long for DUX to come out.
On a real television the game just looks worse it does on YouTube or on the screenshots. It is more like a flash game then a CONSOLE videogame.
I also had problems with bugs such as saving errors with a third party vmu or the score bugs.
For how long I waited the game is poor.

Full of bugs and gameplay errors!!
I waited 2 years for this game, it got delayed all over and over and over again! Then I finally received it, after the rest of the world already had it for weeks, and found it full of gameplay errors and bugs! You can earn 99 mio. score in Level 1, you can not enter your name after you are Game Over, the enemies are too strong and on PAL DREAMCAST it is slower than on NTSC DREAMCAST!!! I feel ripped off, this game is just a simple big bug!!!
****comment Play-Asia.com: the distributor announced a patch, that we will ship to all DUX customers, once available****
