A product of simplicity and perfection When i got it, the other day i was surprised by the boxe's small size, even a bit disappointed. When i started playing i realized the potential of this little wonder. You can play all your favourite games from a wide range of emulators. The screen is vibrant with reach colors, the sound is bit weak for my taste, but this is not something to write home about.Built construction is good,a solid product.
To sum up , if u re a hand held man , this is a must buy.
Its like u re having your own gaming time travel device...and a great travel companion.

Overall, I like it. A bit expensive though. I got it for the sake of emulation and gaming. I found that the DS and PSP are superior to it. Eg. Snes works without a certain layer screen for more speed. DS snes emu doesn't have this issue. In terms of emu choices, you are limited to the really old emulators. The games are nice (many of them are homebrew like or rips of popular games (pop cap games). The screen is nice. The quality material used to make the Wiz are not that good (the buttons feels slightly cheap when compared to DS or the psp). The whole device makes a slight sound when you rotate it against itself a little (as if its not tightly built). When you switch on the device, it does not remember the last sound volume setting (even if it is a reset) so it becomes louder again. The switch on/off/hold button feels slightly cheap (sorry to use this word) as I struggle to switch it off quickly and I have to actually look at it to do it.
It depends on what you want it for. If you have a DS with a chip to run homebrew and emus, then you may not need this. If you are a collector, then this is a must get. I can say that it is way different from DS and PSP for sure as it feels more friendly and practical for apps and games.
The free games you can get from the official website is a huge plus and some of the games are really well made.
Overall I am satisfied with it but I think it should be cheaper that US $180 I paid for it. Maybe $125 would be ideal for the quality of the buidling material used.

Nice But ... Plays Retro Games (especially SNES) games really well. I would like to play SCUMM games but after less than 6 months of ownage, my two year old decided to hand it to me, got mad after I didn't want it that very instance, and threw it against the floor. This cracked the screen and so, the touchscreen doesn't function correctly. Everything else works fine. If it wasn't for the touchscreen cracking easily, I would give it 5 stars. The battery life is fantastic. The controls are nice and everything just works.

Incredible Bought it mostly for retro gaming, and boy does it work a treat. The resolution is perfect for Mega Drive/SNES games (with lower res games being bordered), and the contrast, lack of ghosting puts the screens leagues ahead of the DS or PSP. Screen's really probably too small for movies and photos, but for gaming, it's a blast. Solid all-round.

Exactly what I was wanting, with a single short coming I've been on the hunt for a handheld system which will play videos and MP3's. I've looked and played with other devices but they've either had bad ergonomics, too big, poor screens, slow processors or just been cheap and nasty.
As soon as I saw the GP2x Wiz I was impressed, it's list of abilities was beyond what I expected or really needed.
Overclocking beyond the normal 533Mhz was a massive plus, as I knew a few higher end emulators needed the extra grunt to play the games smoothly.
I highly recommend this device for anyone wanting to get into those old console games, watch videos on the move or listen to music.
It's biggest strength is definitely the screen, it can be viewed from any angle as it's an OLED. The colours are intense and performance is brilliant.
Button layout is perfect, I've put 3+ hour sessions into it without the slightest cramp, and my hands aren't the smallest. The weight of the device didn't put any strain on the wrists.
Touchscreen was great for Scumm games.
Speaker performance is excellent, loud and clear in almost all situations.
Video playback is brilliant, most DivX/AVI videos don't need transcoding. Just drop them on and away you go. But to save space I downconverted the video to the native resolution, this takes 5 minutes.
The only flaws I really found was the sound quality for MP3 playback, I found the sound to be rather tinny. There are no equaliser settings to improve this, but as it is still being actively developed, I have no doubt it'll be improved upon in no time.
Also I purchased a highspeed SD card to make transfers faster, but connecting to it through the device meant I could only get 1/3 the speed from the SD card. It was 3x faster to plug it into an SD card reader and copy on that way.
