I am very satisfied with my Caanoo. I would say that it is the best handheld for emulation that you can buy nowadays. Its hardware is vigorous and the controls are very playable and trustable. I do recommend for everyone who loves emulation and retro games!
I've been having lots of fun with my Caanoo. I always used to play emulated games on my computer, which was a hassle, but this thing is great! I have been able to put on tons of games from various consoles, arcade, sega, snes, even a few PS1 games. It also does movies, music, and web capabilities. I highly recommend it to anyone that loves portable gaming!!
I use this thing so much I thought I needed a backup just in case the old one dies or GPh stop making them.
The new one had a free 4Gb SD card = GPh game pack. Nice surprise and nice to see a couple of commercial games on the device.
Hint: PCSX ReArmed is a must have PSX emulator if you buy a Caanoo.
I bought my Caanoo about a year ago. One of my buttons on the left hand trigger started to stick and in vain I tried to find someone who would help me fix it. I emailed Play-Asia and they told me why warranty expired and that they couldn't help me. They suggested an hardware store that specializes in fixing consoles, went to them, no help. So, I decided from reading an online tutorial to open the thing myself. Bad move. The cheap plastic and wires inside broke easily. Now my Caanoo is useless.
All this could have been avoided if the company had a decent repair or replacement service. Its unfair not to have such a service when I've paid over $150 for the console. These events will make me wary of buying another open source console from Play-Asia, Gamepark Holdings, or any smaller name company again.
The Caanoo is lots of fun and is a great handheld emulator. The shape and feel of the handheld itself is very comfortable and the variety of things it does is great (apps,movies,e-books)...The only reasons not a 5/5: the a and x buttons should have been switched positions, and it is hard to play some games with the joystick . A d-pad along with the joystick would have been good. Overall a great handheld and a must for emulator lovers.
